Very disappointed with this Kumon center and how they treat motivated students…read more We enrolled our 7th grade child -- who is ahead in math -- expecting a structured program that would support and encourage his growth. Instead, we've experienced the opposite. Despite clearly being capable of progressing faster, the instructor Denise refuses to provide new material, not because of his math performance, but for arbitrary reasons like not writing his name or the time on every sheet. This is being used as an excuse to hold him back intentionally, even though he completes his work and understands the concepts. We started with basic addition and subtraction -- far below his level -- and stuck with it, trusting the process. But now that he's finally in a position to advance more quickly, they seem more interested in slowing him down than supporting his progress. We're paying for this program with the expectation of consistent academic advancement -- not for excuses, delays, and a system that punishes kids for wanting to move forward. If you have a child who is motivated and advanced, I would strongly think twice before committing to this Kumon center.

This program taught her how to visualize and introduced her to mental math. She now has an increased confidence and new enthusiasm towards math. She really enjoyed going to her abacus math class and wants to continue - they made math fun for her! We are very happy to see the progress our daughter made in a relatively short time. We are grateful to her teacher, Ms Jan, who was very motivating and patient. Ms Jan has a wonderful way of working with my daughter, the entire class, and us (parents) to ensure success. I recommend Abacus West as a math enrichment option. This local company takes the time to understand the background of each child before the first class even begins. This program teaches kids to develop their visual skills while making math fun to learn.

Ann is a truly amazing and genuine person, who cares about the kids and parents equally. Tony my son's tutor has been so amazing, patient and so much empathy for him. Although the program motivated me to have some structure during the summer, there were several days when class time was not productive. For anyone who is thinking of taking classes here, I highly recommend taking a trial class for one-on-one tutoring and then deciding if it is a good fit.
