My daughter made a dramatic improvement in her ACT scores thanks to HLC in Issaquah. Rebecca at the center created a well crafted plan and the tutors carried it out perfectly. Of course, my daughter did her part as well. We are now utilizing them for tutoring for classes. With Huntington's help, my daughter got a 36 on her ACT after working with them for just two months. I highly recommend Huntington in Issaquah for test prep. Huntington has a great system where your child takes a practice ACT and SAT with them, and based on the results, they make a study plan for whichever test plays to your child's strengths. I loved the flexibility in their scheduling and the ease of the process. My daughter met with her tutor once or twice a week, and they went over the homework he'd given her. Your child will have homework and will need to do it to improve. Will you be out of town here and there over the summer? No problem. They build the schedule around your availability. Here's my favorite part about Huntington. They let you take lots of practice tests that are actual ACT tests from prior years. (Lots and lots of tests!) We have used Huntington for small tutoring sessions in the past, so when it was time to prepare my 11th grade daughter to take the ACT exams, we decided to use Huntington for test prep. For her first ACT exam, her score went up around 6 points from the start of tutoring. We were happy with that, but wanted to improve her score. She went back to Huntington for a few sessions prior to her 2nd ACT exam. Her score improved another 4 points! We were beyond thrilled! I cannot recommend them enough for test prep! Huntington Learning Center has been an absolutely wonderful resource for our family. After spending a great deal of time evaluating other programs in the area, we decided on Huntington. We had our son evaluated, through a very thorough process where we felt his needs were well identified by Huntington. We then committed to a rigorous plan for tutoring. We have been absolutely pleased with the results thus far. Our son is happy at Huntington, and thriving as a result of the program. Huntington takes a very collaborative approach to working with their families, one that even extends to going into the child's school, to observe and meet with teachers to hear their concerns. Our son's teachers were very impressed that they would go to that extent to collaborate. We have heard rave reviews from his teacher, as well as his school specialist around progress. We are both happy for his success thus far, and relieved that there is such a difference being made for our son. I HIGHLY recommend that Huntington be a part of any exploration around tutoring. Rigid one method to test students supposedly how to succeed. Each student learns differently. I rejected this method and found I could try different methods for my son and others, and they rose to the top in SAT/ACT tests and other areas. Trust me-don't go this route. I would leave zero stars if I could because zero equals the improvement we saw on my student's ACT scores after spending $4,675.00 and months of bi-weekly 2 hour sessions. I asked Huntington to refund my remaining 8 hours of tutoring they still owe me because of the covid shutdown, and they offered to only give me $350 even though I was paying $86 an hour. I also asked that they give me back the amount of their profit outside of what they pay their tutors because they should not make a profit after they totally failed to live up to the promises they made in order to get our money. My student's score started at 21 and they promised they could help her achieve a 27-28 if we bought a certain number of tutoring hours, but it has remained exactly the same. I spent all that money and have absolutely NOTHING to show for it, it was a total waste and I would caution anyone else not to fall for their scam. read more

I cannot recommend Issaquah Huntington Learning Center enough! my son got the assessment, plan, time, attention and direction he needed to raise his test scores big time! The personal plan Rebecca and her team put together had his best interests and learning styles in mind. They communicated every step of the way. Do not waste your money on Huntington Learning Center to prepare your child for the ACT/SAT test especially for the 1:1 individual lessons program which could cost more than $6,000. Beware that Huntington does not refund your sessions if you are not happy them. There is no guarantee even they tell you they stand behind it. They will continue to promise you that they will improve while you continue to take classes until you are too invested in time and money to stop further sessions. I highly suggest going with C2 Education in Sammamish or Issaquah. I would not be wasting time typing this review if I don't feel strongly about my bad review for Huntington. Unless your child has scored above 30 in initial ACT assessment test, it would be extremely difficult to raise his/her score significantly with the disappointing approach they take and the inconsistent quality of teachers they have. If you are going with Huntington based on blind trust and faith, I'd suggest being very proactive and vigilant about what is being taught in each lesson making sure that the teacher is focused on improving areas of weaknesses identified from previous test results. Do ask your child about the teacher and how s/he is teaching your child. Make sure you sign off on how much homework is being assigned at the end of each session and whether the teacher reviews the homework and work on mistakes. My child basically spent the bulk of her time doing problems in the 2 hour sessions on her own while the teacher sits there doing nothing. On top of that, my child does not have much homework (15 minutes to none) to do between weekly sessions - which is quite odd because the concept of practice makes perfect somehow does not apply here. Huntington will boast that they have students getting 35 or 36 in ACT. Don't be fooled and know that these are already exceptional students and it takes minimal tutoring effort to get their perfect scores. In fact these students will get higher scores even doing the ACT prep book on their own. Do not pay thousands of dollars when what you are getting is/are tutors (uncertain quality) who are there to make extra money on the side and not truly committed to helping your child succeed. You are better off having your child buy a ACT prep book and work through problems they have issues with and get focused help from school teachers. We have switched to C2 in Sammamish and we love its teaching philosophy and approach which are geared toward helping each student as an individual with unique learning styles. Good luck. read more
