No valet or porter available when we arrived. Check-in: adequate check-in process Room (305): A large room that needs more furniture and some comfortable furniture. There was no place to comfortably sit in the room! Small and older TV (no Netflix access or smart functions) with all channels in Spanish. Mini-refrigerator, safe, etc. Major disappointment- Nespresso in-room coffee maker was fee-based! Who provides a Nespresso and then charges for the pods? Furniture was below average. For example, little sitting chair in the corner of the room was completely uncomfortable. Floors were tile but not very clean. Bed: Average king bed with above average linens. Bathroom: Large bathroom with large walk in shower, but shower was not well-designed. It didn't drain well and water pressure was bad. Lighting was not the best. Hairdryer was broken, and we had to request a replacement. A lovely and super clean hotel. Prior to arrival they sent us an email with recommendations for adventures in tequila. It was recommended to take a tour of the Jose Cuervo distillery. I called and they were so nice to assist over the phone. Great service! Arrival: by car. Hotel has valet service provided after check-in. Nobody will greet you at your car. Park in the front and go in. Service: employees are all very nice and friendly. Security is everywhere keeping everyone safe. Room: 305, very clean. With a nice King size bed with high quality bed linens. The bed is medium comfort and nice firm pillows. The TV is quite small for the size of the room. The chair and ottoman are uncomfortable. The desk is a nice spot to do some work but the WIFI in the hotel is quite slow. Working remotely here would not be n option. There is a mini bar. The coffee is not free in your room, so be mindful to check prices before you brew a cup. One pod of coffee is 60 pesos. Coffee in the restaurant with refills is 40 pesos. Get yourself ready and head downstairs. The coffee in the restaurant is out of this world delicious and worth getting dressed for. Bathroom: lovely bathroom with gorgeous chandelier but a bit dark for shaving or applying makeup. NIce double sink but water pressure is lacking. The left side sink hot water never got hot. There is a soap dispenser that both sinks my must share. Reaching over from the far sink can be a pain if another person is at the closer sink, we made due, but bit akward. The hair dryer is low quality and did not put out hot air to dry your hair, we did request a new dryer. The new dryer works good, but again not the best quality. Gorgeous gigantic walk in shower but the water pressure is not that great. You have this lovely gigantic shower but the pressure of the water and the shower head does not allow the use of the entire space but you do have hot water. Sleep quality: varies depending on the night. First night was poor and we did not get any sleep. Our room faced the swimming pool so not sure if there is a better place in the hotel, but you can hear everything. The church bells go off every 15 - 30 minutes and each time it is between 8-10 rings. Then you hear water running from other rooms from the showers to the flushing toilets. The street noise. The second night it was quiet and the sleep quality was great! We think it was because of Christmas Eve and Christmas that the Church bells were going off so much. The next night, the church bells were silent. Pool: there is a lovely outdoor pool. There is an adult pool on the floor 4 with the sky bar. What a lovely pool on the rooftop and the bar is overlooking the downtown Tequila area. Restaurant: on site restaurant and quality of food varies on what is going on. See separate review.

The location is just far enough away from the noise and traffic of the town square but close enough to walk (4 small blocks). They booked transportation to and from the airport for me. They booked my tequila tour. The room was clean and spacious. The grounds are quaint yet beautiful. You will be in good hands and feel comfortable.

In short my family and I were targeted by a ring of extortionists claiming to be part of the "Nueva…read moreGeneración," and this hotel was involved. Where they really the cartel? We didn't stick around the find out. After realizing the town was having a special event and streets were closed with carnival type games, fireworks, and music, we decided to book a hotel for the night. We wanted the adults to enjoy drinking and not worry about driving, and the kids to enjoy the fireworks and games without rushing. Three rooms were booked at the Plaza Jardin. When we all decided to call it a night, the room with the person who registered their number during the booking, received a call from two "comandantes" advising them who they were and threatening to harm our family if we did not listen to them. Amongst our group were 4 kids, so you could imagine the dilemma we were in. Throughout the almost 1 hour drive f back and forth, we'd realized the hotel employee was involved, the business outside the hotel selling drinks was involved, that we were monitored throughout the day, and that we were being watched via a camera in the room mirror and the 2nd floor of the hotel. All our rooms were on the first floor, towards the back of the hotel. Our rooms were divided by a patio where anyone from a higher floor would be able to see if we were walking outside. I won't go into detail in case one of those ass***** are reading, and they use us as an example of what not to do on their end. The point is after we all found out we were all physically okay, we decided to grab what we could, and make a run for it. We had family in town, who we'd failed to mention we were staying in town to avoid the awkward "stay with us." We didn't want to be a burden. We were a large group. The family lived near the city center, so in the middle of the festivities, close to midnight, we made a run for it. My cousin and I were the last ones out. As we ran through the hotel, I noticed the receptionist was not at his desk, he was standing at the hotel entrance keeping a watch and watched as everyone of my family members ran out. I yelled obscenities at him as I ran alongside my cousin. She later mentioned that when she turned back, he was smirking. Was it only a scare tactic? Not sure. We did not stick around to find out what they wanted and what they were capable of doing. I am sure the goal was to have us wire money. And they used scare tactics like good cop, bad cop, and mental warfare to try and break us. Using words such as "if you don't listen to us, your family will be leaving this hotel in body bags." Bottom line, don't stay here. If you visit Tequila, leave the same day.

We were extremely disappointed that they had taped off the entire common seating area with the comfortable chairs which is actually one of the reasons I had picked the place. I guess because of Covid but it seemed excessive especially since the staff was still sitting in there eating their lunch. The front desk staff was attentive but not particularly warm or welcoming. Not really helpful with local questions. There was nothing that made me want to come back. The room was clean and I did appreciate that they had a pitcher and glasses and all the water you could drink. I would go back if nothing else was available but otherwise I would try a different place next time.
