I first met on a recommendation from my cousin who has done tree work for the big "Ax Men" companies and was familiar with Matt Mitko from his time in the trade but has never worked for him. Matt came out in early June 2021 to meet with me and my wife and go over the scope of the project. What i like about Matt's pricing is that the client tells him what their priorities are and he charges by the day vs. charging by the tree you want removed. He focuses on the customer's priorities and listens to them, he doesn't got rogue and do what he thinks the customer wants or what is easier for him to get in and get out with minimal work and maximum profit. He employees work a full day: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. At the end of the day you get a full day's work from Matt and his Team. Matt told me that he was booked until the end of August but actually started the job on July 28th. After the first day, I got home and was impressed by the noticeable difference on my property after just one day of a two day scheduled job. Anyone that has has trees removed or trimming done knows that after the "headache" tree is removed or trimmed you then realize that something in close proximity needs to go also. I called Matt and told him about areas that I would like to improve and he was very intentive to my goals. He agreed to address my concerns and while he was finishing he took the time to address concerns based on feedback from day #1. You would never know that Matt and his Team were on my property. The Mitko Team thoroughly cleaned up and paid special attention to not destroy my property by dropping large tree and causing impressions in the lawn. The Mitko Team's attention to detail was terrific. I have been waiting 13 years to do this work on my property but the estimates that I got from other "Ax Men" companies were never in the budget. For one tree to be removed, they wanted what I paid the Mitko Team for two days worth of work. The large companies only addressed a fraction of the tree work that the Mitko Team did in their time. I would highly recommend the Mitko Team to any relatives or neighbors. I am a very satisfied customer from Kingston, MA and told Matt to give out my number to potential customers. Matt and his Team were very careful to protect my property while getting me the results I've wanted for years at a fair price. The Mitko Team hit it out of the park! I refer to it as a Team because while they were here, I watched how they worked together to protect my property and give me the job I've wanted done for years. I admire Matt's dedication to his employees, when I wanted to add some extra trimmage to the project, Matt explained that he had given his employees a day off and that my request may put an obstacle to their promised day off. Matt and his Team accomplished what I wanted in the designated time and his employees got their needed time off. In Our Great Nation, we have forgotten what is important - family and friends. As a supervisor in my occupation, I realized long ago that happy employees do a better job. Matt's commitment to his family, in particular his grandson who was part of the Team, connected me to Matt. His employees politeness, professionalism and attention to detail is a direct reflection of the leadership that Matt possesses. I can say that it was truly a pleasure to have Matt and his team do work on our trees. We needed some work in a hard to reach place. The big guys (Newcomb, Hansen) just wanted to clear cut their way to the corner and sacrifice the other trees along the way. I had narrowed it down to two providers who had the equipment and will to take care of my tree issues. The price was the same. One said "I will Tryyy to squeeze you in." Matt handed me an estimate and said "I'd really like the opportunity to do some work here on your trees." I could tell that he would be easy to work with. When I told him in June that I was going with him, Matt said he would call after August 14 to line up the work for the following two weeks. On August 15 at 904am, the phone rang and it was Matt. He had openings that week and would come by. We hit some unexpected weather on the first scheduled day and he called to tell me that they would hold off til tomorrow. So few providers do that...they usually don't show. Matt arrived the next day for his planned 1.5 day job. He did exactly what we agreed to. I noticed that it took about 75 minutes longer. I was willing to give him a little more and his response was "I gave you an estimate and I'll stand by it. The number on there is what we agreed to and what you owe." Through the whole process, Matt demonstrated exemplary service and truly runs his business like a business with a focus on customers. He also cares about the trees. We had a good debate about a couple of trees and his recommendation was to prune rather than cut them down. They look great and I'm glad that I listened. Matt has work on my property on Cape Cod a couple of time. He is extremely knowledgable about tree health, how to keep your trees happy, and how to prevent your trees from coming down during our 3 months of Northeaster. This summer he was able to tell me what tree absolutely had to come down because this tree would take out my back deck. I still do not know how he see it. But that is his gift and passion. He has all the lasted equipment, will cut the wood to burn in your fireplace or take it away for you. His team was polite and kind too for old falling apart woman. Two other things I learn from old friends in Chicago after my first visit. I could not understand why they would not use my bathroom or enter my home or have a beer after a long day. Because the best contractors do not even want the possible of being accused of scoping out you home for valuables. Apparently that was happening in Chicago at the time. I felt really dump after that as my brother was a contractor on the south shore- we knew all the contractor in town and they all new us--but they too would not come into out home but were all patients of my beloved father. Matt came to my rescue! My cat Luna had been stuck, at least 50' up, in a cedar tree all night. Luna only goes out supervised but not this time, she got away and didn't come back all day, now we know why. She could not manage the climb down. We tried to coax her down until 11:30p, I called Matt at 6am expecting to leave a message, but he answered. He was at my house by 8am and had Luna down in an hour! He had to climb through a 20' section (beyond the ladder we had set up) just to reach her. He was so kind and gentle to her, put her in a pillow case and repelled down with her! After getting Luna in the house, I asked Matt what I owed him . He said "free". I was so overwhelmed! I still gave Him cash and his response was "I'll give this to my wife who will donate it to an animal shelter. He and Robert skillfully maneuvered the equipment around our wooded lot without damage to any other trees or plantings. We contracted Matt for tree work recently , as he was highly recommended to us by a neighbor. He reviewed the property and offered good suggestions as to what should be cut and what should be saved, and he also removed brush and limbs that previously had been cut and left in several piles around the yard. I met Matt after meeting with other tree removal companies. My back yard is fully fenced in and I am very particular about my lawn. The other companies wanted to bring in a crane and would not guarantee my lawn would not get damaged.
