Many years ago a friend bumped his elbow into my front tooth, knocking it in. For decades I…read moreresisted doing anything about it. I'd rather get a, well, root canal than get a root canal... The dentist said it was time, at last. And it was feeling funky. Office staff were great, Dr Nealon explained what was going to happen at the consult with no sense of upselling; and during the procedure he exuded a casual professionalism and confidence as things progressed. His help was on top of things too. There was some pain for about 18hrs after, nothing that some high doses of IB couldn't handle. He even came in on a weekend to deal with a time-dependent touch up. Within a couple days everything seems back to normal. There are definitely things worse than a root canal.

Dr. Nealon put me at ease by answering all my questions about my root canal and by his polite,…read moreconcerned manner. I had heard many old horror stories, so was nervous, but was calmed by his explanations and reassurance. The office staff was polite and solicitous. I was more than pleasantly surprised that the experience was neither overly complicated nor painful. Thank you! Laurel de Wolf

Fortunately, I was able to get an appointment with my dentist, who immediately referred me to an endodontist. Dr. Anderson has a great chair side manner. Explains everything, almost to a fault, but for me, it's great. He's very gentle, considerate and respectful of your comfort. The office is fabulous and - OK, the music was a bit dentist office like, but quite forgivable.

He and his associates were in a relatively old building on Telegraph near Derby. They moved recently to the medical building at the corner of Telegraph and Oregon, which was renovated a year or two ago. The new offices of Berkeley Endodontics look great -- nice shiny surfaces and equipment that looks to be state-of-the-art. (I was impressed by the digital "X-Rays" that they took of my teeth and the subsequent manipulation of the images on the computer.) This person exudes competence and has a good chair-side manner. If I needed a root canal and was faced with a choice between a general dentist and this specialist, I'd definitely go with the specialist. These people know roots, and they drill through them all the time. By the way, you can read http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m2889/is_n15_v33/ai_19507347/pg_2 for a good root canal joke.
