My son dropped off a pair of boots to replace the heel and to stretch them. It was a Monday and they said tomorrow. We don't live in Tupelo so we came back the following Tuesday. He hadn't even started in the heel. They said we didn't put a "need by" date on them. I said they told him tomorrow and it's been 8 days. So I waited for them to get the heel back on. Got them back home and they hadn't even stretched them. An anonymous boot seller in Tupelo told us they never refer people to them and I see why. Lesson learned. read more

Same ad others, took an old pair of military field boots in to see if separation of sole layers could be fixed. Yes, I'll take them apart and stitch them back. Well, I install flooring and really rough on toes, can you add a leather toe cap...yes, come back Tuesday, a week. Tuesday, no caps, come back tomorrow. Wednesday, met him in the parking lot, said he'd get them. No, stitching, toe pieces I figure he added while I waited his return. Toe caps didn't last an hour, nor did the soles. Took them back again, same scenario except, showed him deamination he didn't fix, acted like he couldn't see the problem. Gotta return again, this time he actually sewed but the stitching through sole is on top of tread lugs so it will wear with each step as I walk. The sole didn't get any more attention. Bought some epoxy type toe protection and will attempt adhering soles when cobbler adhesive arrives. Matthew's was a big waste of time and money. Perhaps the should practice some of the sayings the have plastered on the wall. First impression, questionable thought, stitching must be hidden on military boots, really think he didn't know what he was he was implying for what I was requesting. I see it as thievery read more

Not only did he replace the four heel caps, he also did work on the heels. Finished the job with a good leather condition on both pair. I usually buy decent, but not extremely expensive, shoes because I am rough on shoes so I toss them when they are worn or messed up. However, my expensive shoes and boots are worth the care and repair, and Matthew's shoe repair is AMAZING. He is honest. I buy a lot of "vintage" or used boots because I like knee-high leather boots but don't like the typical $200 price tag. I have brought 2 pairs of very worn boots (one all leather, one man-made materials) to Matthew's now and he did great by me both times. He fixed the heel plate on my Born boots last November, but said he couldn't fix the bonded leather strip that went length-wise up the calf. I have since left it peeled off and canvas only in that section. He completely resoled my other boots this week with better quality soles than they had on them. He's very reasonably priced and the lady who works the front is a delight! I really enjoyed both interactions I had with Matthew and his business. read more

Dropped a pair of expensive Tony Lama boots off to have a seam that was pulling apart repaired. The photos attached speak for themselves. To make it worse, they slathered glue all over it so I can't take them somewhere else to have them repaired correctly. DO NOT take expensive boots or any shoes for that matter to Mathew's Shoe Repair. They will be ruined with even a simple repair. On a positive note, when I showed everyone in my office the stellar repair work on my expensive boots they all had a good laugh at my misfortune. read more

I found these folks on Google after one of the other shoe repair shops in town had burned. There were no reviews or ratings but I decided to give then a try anyway. I carried my old Dr Martin's in with a rubber heel coming off and asked if they could glue them back on, after taking a look he said he could but that they'd prolly come unstuck again but that he'd rather sew them on,, to which I said, have at it! Long story short, I think he glued AND sewed my heels back on, AND polished them, AND put a conditioner on the leather,, AND done it all in about 25 mins, AND all for $25 dollars! Very unprofessional and sloppy work. I called to see what hours they were open. I was told 10:00-5:30 Mon.-Fri. My husband dropped my shoes off and was told they would call when Shoes were ready and had him to pay upfront before the job was done. Thurs. we still had not gotten a call, my husband went by and they were closed, no sign indicating when they would reopen, same on Friday, was not open at all. I tried calling no answer, no msg and no way to leave a msg. On Monday my huband goes back and they had to find the shoes, told him they would be ready the next morning. He was able to get the shoes the next day. The shoes were fixed very sloppy, not happy at all. We will NEVER use Matthews shoe repair again. These are expensive Josef Siebel shoes. read more

Do not trust them with your shoes. I took them a $400 pair of Allen Edmond shoes to get resoled and they "couldn't find them". Wanted to refund me the $53 I prepaid and said they couldn't refund me $400 for the shoes. This place is a rip off!!!!!!!!!! read more

I took 4 pieces of nylon webbing ( 2 pieces 12 inches long, and 2 pieces 20 inches long )and 8 pieces of velcro, ( 4 pieces 8 inches long ad 4 pieces 14 inches long ) for the velcro to be stitched to the nylon straps. The velcro was to be stitched to the ends with a gap left between the velcro. Had to leave the material with them for a week, when the week was up went to pick them up. They had not stitched them when I arrived, and was told I could wait and get them. About 15 or 20 minutes later they called me to the counter. Was told the total was $40.00, which just about floored me. In my mind I thought maybe $10 or $15 since they weren't ready when I arrived, and had to wait, for something that took maybe 5 minutes to do. They handed me the webbing with the velcro stitched to them, in the right locations. The stitches were very erratic, some of them about 1/16 inch, some 1/4 inch, some 3/8 inch apart, etc... with nothing straight or uniform on all 4 pieces. I told them they could keep them and put them on display to show the quality of work they do. Was glad I hadn't taken them anything of real value, to mutilate. Don't take anything to Matthew's shoe repair, would be my advice, unless you're a punk rocker, or into hideous. Don't know yet if a NO star rating will be accepted, that's my rating, a ZERO deserves a ZERO. read more
