Probably my first one star review - we purchased the mattress and adjustable bed in September 2018 - first 60 days the mattress was great , we wanted a firm one and the sales guy gave the us options for firm mattress but after 60 days it really shows if the mattress is firm or soft . At the time of buy the trail mattress at the store was only in for 30 days - long story short I called and wanted an exchange for which they kinda agreed but the firm option that I wanted (the actual firm one that stays firm after 60 days ) is additional cost of 1500. As a single gal, I had lived very happily with my Tempur-Cloud for 5 years, but it's an older version (before Tempurpedic came out with their "Breeze" cooling series); not ideal for the Mister who sleeps hot. With all the moving expenses, we initially decided to budget about $1800 for a new bed, which cut out proprietary brands like Sleep Number and Tempurpedic. On President's Day, we hit up all the sales, tested out dozens of beds and finally bought a Stearns and Foster from a major retailer, best known for its Turkey Day Tromp through NYC. It took two weeks to get the bed delivered and it was clearly defective. A few weeks later, said retailer replaced the mattress with the same problem. Said retailer seemed incapable of fixing the problem and was happy to keep supplying us with defective mattresses from a line that had been discontinued because of the defect. After a month, said retailer finally agreed to take the bed back and refund our purchase. By this time, we had learned the age-old lesson that we should have learned from Goldilocks: when it comes to beds, don't mess around, find the one that's just right. For us, that looks like a Tempurpedic Cloud Breeze Supreme and is 100% worth the $3400 we paid for it. Mattress Firm financed our purchase INTEREST FREE for 3 years through Wells Fargo and we slept in the bed the same night we ordered it. We have slept blissfully in our new bed ever since, happily ever after. For those of you hung up on the cost, here are some useful ways to think about this: 1) Studies show that the most important indicator of good health is not diet or exercise, but quality of sleep. 2) If you amortize the cost of the bed over its useful life (i.e., 10yrs) it works out to about $1.00 per night. You and I both know we spend more than that on Starbucks and Slurpees. 3) Proprietary beds like Tempurpedic and Sleep Number typically prohibit retailers from discounting the cost of the bed to prevent product devaluation; so, retailers generally create other incentives. For example, we got a $200 credit at Mattress Firm that we used for delivery and this delicious coconut scented pillow that tricks me into thinking I'm sleeping on a beach. 4) If there's no discount on the bed anyway, you may as well purchase from a vendor that specializes in mattresses, as opposed to larger retailers who are not dependent on their reputation in this one specific department. read more

I went with my cousin to help her pick out a mattress and ended up buying one too. Tom R. had assisted her the previous day. He was very patient and took as much time as needed to answer questions about the various options. Tom was friendly, well-trained and extremely helpful. Purchasing the best bed for you is difficult to do in a store jumping from bed to bed. Tom was able to reassure us that Mattress Firm stands behind their products and if we weren't happy with our purchase we had 100 days to exchange or return. TERRIBLE experience with OVERPRICED mattresses! You're not going to find anything worth sleeping on under $900. Though I will say the layout is pretty cool - four different sections separated by color and firmness. We asked the guy, think his name was Eric, if there was any wiggle room and he said absolutely not. Then when I said let's check out another store because every mattresses here is going to run from 900-4K! And suddenly, the guy said you're not going to get a better deal anywhere else and BTW I'll knock off $100 off the mattress of your choice. I said I'd rather compare mattresses from another store since I'm going to be sleeping on it for the next 8 years of my life and instead of saying I'm sure I can find something that will work - he mumbled under his breath "thanks for wasting my time." Thanks a lot asshole. SO, we went to DENVER MATTRESS at Furniture Row, which happened to be less than a mile away and were pleasantly surprised. They had mattresses from $300 +. I told the guy there I wasn't looking to spend more than $600 but wanted something decent. He found a Serra originally 1K that was on clearance for $540 since it had been returned a week ago. Anyways moral of the story is skip Mattress Firm because it's a total ripoff and has terrible customer service. Not saying Denver Mattress is the way to go but there's so many other options out there, so don't fall for the glorified reviews because I'm sure buyers remorse accounted for it. read more

While I assumed mattress purchases were in one category or returning....I thought frames and box springs were under a different policy. Be careful. Run...do not stop at Mattress Firm-not just this one location but every location in Denver. It's a corporate culture of shiny packaging filled with stinky garbage. In simpler terms: they promise you everything with signs and cards bulleted with promises about their guarantees and reasons you should buy from them, they charge exorbitant prices and then give you the proverbial mile high salute when you expect them to uphold their end of the promises...the ones that are in writing. You have better places to spend your money and better things to do with your time. Trust me! Same day delivery (purchased my $8,000 mattress and adjustable base Sunday at 1:00 pm) has turned into next day delivery with a 12 hour delivery window of 9 am to 9pm. But at hour 12.5-ALL day of sitting there waiting for our deliver and it arrived at 9:28 pm. But the legs needed to make it fit in my bed frame? Ermiass only sent four of the eight legs needed for the base. And so, I was forced to wait another day for another 3 hour window to have two more delivery guys come back and install the legs. One can't even reconcile this kind of BAD service-there is no way...absolutely NO WAY Mattress Firm didn't know that our original delivery would be the very last one of the day so that they could let us know that we didn't have to wait all day 12.5 hours to hear from them. A 3 hour window is reasonable. Our salesman, Ermiass, was so crafty that he doctored the invoice for the mattress so delivery was free-he just covered the cost in the higher price of the mattress price to cover delivery, this way he doesn't have to compensate me per the Red Carpet delivery policy which says there is a 3 hour delivery window. The salesman, Ermiass is a snake, the likes of which would even be fired at the sleeziest used car lot in Denver and surrounding areas. Like others have said, the prices at Mattress Firm are set until you want to shop around, then they have all kinds of room to dicker. But Ermiass couldn't settle on a price and because I needed my mattress sooner than later I agreed to pay him more than his one time best offer...which was the best price I found in town but the mattress was not in stock. This higher price happened once Ermisass lied and told me his boss wouldn't let him go that low. Come to find out...the man he said stopped him from selling to me at his lowest agreed price wasn't even his boss but another employee "helping him out" by calling like he needed to stop him from losing money. Ermiass isn't even a good liar, and the Mattress Firms best price guarantee isn't worth the paper they printed it on. The warehouse/dispatch people are unemployable by anyone else's standards. They only have a job with Mattress Firm because the standards are so low...simple math, phone numbers, and supervisor names elude them. Customer service is something they just don't understand. When I called to get a close estimate of time at 7 pm (hour ten of waiting for the delivery) the woman, Tammy, could not hear me, but when I spoke loudly she threatened to hang up on me. She insisted I called her, rather than acknowledging that she called me when Ermiass directed her to because he couldn't answer my questions regarding delivery. Ermiass asked her to call me. When I asked Tammy for her number she told me I'd have to get it from caller ID-but she said I called her? She told me her boss was named Joe but couldn't give me any other information, and said Joe didn't have a phone number to be reached "because he already left for the night". After all the crap Mattress Firm put us through the two delivery guys were exceptional. Professional. Clean. Friendly. Hard workers. Honest. And as tired as they were having to work this late at night...they never took it out on us! They were in our home until 10:25 pm working like we were their first stop. Too bad the entire Mattress Firm clan doesn't have the ethics and tenacity that these two men have....it would be an exceptional corporation with an in beatable culture. And that my fellow yelpers, is the only reason for the one star review (and also because zero or negative is not an option on Yelp.) Mattress firm called to survey me-a robot asked questions and I got to give answers 1-10. At the end of the call, after reviewing Mattress Firm as a 1 across the board the robot asked if I'd like someone from management to contact me. I responded "yes" and waited for them to call me before I posted this Yelp. No one ever called.
