My husband and I bought a lot of furniture from Ashley Furniture when we moved to New Bern. It took 14 months for the furniture to arrive. We vowed we would never use them again. Well, time passed. We have the new Ashley store, so we decided to give it a try for some lamps. Our credit card statement shows up with a charge for "New Bern Performance" right next to a charge for New Bern Civic Theater. Our credit card has been hacked 3 times in 6 months so we immediately disputed the charge only to discover that "New Bern Performance" is actually Ashley Furniture. Go figure!!!! My husband talked with the owner Mike, who indicated that there is"nothing he can do about it" . When we recommended that his employees simply inform the customer that the charge will not say "Ashley" he said his people are not privey to that information. Well Ashley employees.... here is the information. Your parent company is New Bern Performance. Now you are privey. Unfortunately, Ashley is still providing customer no service.

What they failed to tell us was that before they would deliver our furniture, we would have to prove the check had cleared our bank. I received a text from the delivery company asking me to schedule a delivery appointment, which I did. One hour later, I received another text saying I would have to provide proof that my check had cleared. Why is the customer responsible for proving a payment has cleared? Doesn't the store have access to verify that themselves? I sent a photo of the canceled check. That wasn't good enough. I was then told I had to send it to the store instead of the delivery company. So I did. Now I've received another message from the store saying I must also provide proof that the money was actually deducted from my bank account. This process has been frustrating, time-consuming, and completely unnecessary. If this is your policy, it should be clearly explained before customers choose to pay by check and schedule delivery--not after. If you're considering paying by check to save a little money, be prepared for extra hoops and delays that were never disclosed upfront.

Maurice and Johnny helped us today and were amazing. They had him lay on a computerized bed to see where he needed support the most for his comfort .
