Keep up the great work!!! I've used your facility since you opened in 2017. Always a smile…read moreespecially from your GM Tomiko..

I was having the urge to trade in my crossover for a truck in times of hauling need, but my…read moredecision has been made and I am not trading in my good-on-gas CUV for a gas hog that is the majority of pickup trucks. Why? Because U-Haul is here to save the day! THE SCENARIO: We had some very large items to dispose of and some to move. Neither would fit in our CUV's and I'm not one to ask someone to borrow their truck as I wouldn't like that asked of me. I jumped online to research prices. Home Depot wanted $19 for the first 75-minutes + $5 for each additional 15-minutes thereafter. No! Hotwire's truck rentals were going for $150. Hell no! Enter U-Haul who wanted $19.99 flat with $0.89 per mile. Oh yes. I booked on their website for a cargo van as their pickup trucks were available only in Kihei, but it turned out for the better as the van can hold more items and they were the same price. I also opted for the $10 insurance which would cover me with a $150 deductible should anything happen. THE PLACE: U-Haul took the space vacated by Maui's first big box retailer, K-Mart, so parking is ridiculously plentiful. The office operates out of the old garden section to the right side of the building. There, they also sell retail items related to packing and moving (gloves, ropes, bags, locks, etc.) The rest of the building houses storage crates; actual wooden boxes with locks and very ghetto-looking (if that's what they actually were). PICK UP: I checked in at the desk and a friendly guy assisted me. He found my online reservation, had me sign a few forms and sent me on my way. The only things I had to do was to check that the fuel gauge was full and that the odometer matched the paperwork. The odometer was higher by 1 mile so I let them know and got credited for it. Hey, $0.89 is $0.89 right? THE VAN: The Chevy cargo van was brand new with just over 800 miles on it, clean and in good shape. The cargo floor was lined with a sturdy rubber mat and the van's walls reinforced with wooden slats. Signs abound warn you that you'll be charged for any dents incurred. A protective metal grate separates the passengers and cargo area. Dual cargo doors on the back and passenger-side made for convenient loading. Regardless of its big size, a/c usage and weight we were hauling, the gas gauge didn't change at all, even after driving just over 20 miles in the city, so it got really good MPG's. DROP OFF: I simply walked in to the office and handed them my keys. The associate came out to inspect the gas gauge and printed out my final receipt. TIP: If you're going to the landfill, you must present your rental contract to the gate agent there (which was also mentioned by the U-Haul employee at time of check-in). OVERALL: Affordable, easy, convenient. I'm happy U-Haul expanded from their dinky digs in the Kahului Industrial Park to here. A definite return in the future!

At first, I was a little skeptical about the place. You can't see the actual storage facility from…read morethe front desk area. No one is there even though they're open. BUT I was thoroughly impressed after. The girl at the front is really nice. They offer first responder, senior and military discounts. The storage units are clean and they have a lot of availabilities. The only cons are: The restrooms have 10 stalls and ZERO stalls have toilet paper. How is that even a thing. Oh man. I guess I'm grateful that there ARE accessible restrooms but that seems weird. The drive way to get to the storage units are really narrow so if a car is parked you can't get past them and you are stuck until they leave

This place is awful. Rats ate my things, and soot fell all over everything. They originally kept…read morethe back overhead door open, but then locked it, so it became very difficult to access my unit. When I enquired about these things, they responded with helplessness. They couldn't think creatively enough to come up with solutions that didn't make things worse for customers. Just restrict, restrict, restrict. And they blamed me for not covering everything, or requesting the attendant to cover it. Yet in the beginning they didn't advise me that I should. They hired a security guard, whose only job is to watch the front door, not to patrol the whole facility. And the bathrooms are filthy, with the women's closed and the mens dirty and dysfunctional. Cheap for a reason.
