After coming recommended by our wedding planner, my husband and I decided to book DJ Del for our wedding, and we both agree that it was one of the best decisions we made throughout our planning process! In my opinion, the DJ/ MC is one of the things that can make or break a wedding guests' experience, so I was super nervous about picking the right one, but DJ Del was 100% the man for the job, and crushed it from start to finish. To start off, he's just an all around cool dude, which made it super easy to work with him. We made the decision to book him after getting a bit of a sense of his vibe from his social media and website, and reading through a bunch of his reviews, which were all overwhelmingly positive. After doing so (through our wedding planner), he asked us to provide him with notes that went over the type of music that we like, what we want played, what we don't want played, ect. We tried not to request too many specific songs to allow him opportunity to cater his selections to the crowd, and instead provided him with information about our group, and described the vibe that we were going for. We also spoke on the phone a week or two before the wedding, where we went over the reception and discussed all of the details that involved him at length. He was funny, super easy to talk to, and answered all of my questions thoughtfully. He also had really good insight into what makes a wedding reception flow well, and assisted me in tweaking the order/ timing of a couple things so there were no lulls throughout the night, and the momentum of the party kept building. Ultimately, the result of the very simple groundwork that we put in, in combination with DJ Del's talent and preparation, was a reception that went better than I ever could have expected, and a dance floor that stayed popping the entire night. Even before the dancing started, DJ Del was amazing at engaging with out guests as MC. He was fun and funny without being cheesy or too unserious, and did an amazing job guiding everyone and encouraging everyone to visit the bar, go up to the food stations for seconds, ect. When it came time for the grand entrances and first dances, he made sure everyone knew what to do and where to go, and hyped all of us in the wedding party up, so we went out there with awesome energy that stuck throughout the entire night. After the first dances, we went straight into the dance party and the song selections did not miss. I'm pretty sure everyone at the wedding was up on the dance floor at some point in the night, and there was never a point where it felt quiet or empty. I could tell that he really understood what I wanted from my notes and did such a good job of choosing songs that matched the vibe that we were going for, whilst also catering to guests of all different ages. He also helped me pull off a birthday surprise for my cousin to the song "In Da Club", which went off without a hitch. He checked in with me at several points about different little details just to make sure I was happy with how everything was going. At one point I jumped on the mic to open the song "No Hands" by loudly exclaiming its iconic first line: "listen to this track, b*tch". It was a major highlight for me (lol). Up until the very end of the night, DJ Del had the best energy that kept us all hype and having so much fun. I HIGHLY recommend hiring him as your DJ if you want to dance your actual butt off and have the time of your life with all of your family and friends. Our coordinator couldn't be there the day before the wedding (for the rehearsal) and he took everything into his own hands and ran through it all with ease. Upon review all dj's available on Maui, Del was at the top of our list. Del came highly recommended by Lori Lawrence of Tropical Maui weddings to be our dj. Since we had a small wedding, I wasn't sure a DJ was necessary but Del was so much more. First of all, he has an awesome presence and is hilarious. He kept the wedding moving at a good pace and acted as the emcee for the evening. Beyond his stellar personality, he's an awesome dj. There are professionals and then there is DJ Del Sol. WOW! That is what the response was from our wedding guests. We couldn't echo that louder. From the moment we decided to book, working with Del was a dream come true. We heard him play for a friends wedding a year earlier and couldn't stop talking about it! Booking was super easy and he made himself available to us via phone so we could chat about specifics. Emails were returned promptly and there was never any confusion about how things were going to go. Once we arrived on island we met up with Del to give him our lists of what to play and when. DJ Del Sol is definitely the best DJ on Maui! Working with him was an absolute pleasure and I'd strongly recommend him for any wedding or celebration that may require an MC to preside. When searching for a DJ for our wedding - we definitely were a bit jaded by the DJs we have seen at some other weddings. Having seen the gamut, we knew what we wanted and that was a DJ that didn't hijack the event (by speaking too much or inserting random "not funny at all" jokes), that didn't play the generic top 40's or god forbid those "did they really put that on" jams like the Electric Slide and Macarena. Well fear not because DJ Del was the exact opposite of what we'd consider to be our ultimate nightmare! Del was the ideal DJ for our wedding. He never once tried to steal the show and really did a wonderful job getting the crowd engaged. His mixes were on point and did the most fantastic job playing the songs we had wanted - in fact I found out later on that he pretty much took my sample list (by sample I mean full 10 hour set list of well over 200 songs) finding which ones worked the best to create both our dinner & dance list for the night. He explained how to cut the cake for excellent photo opportunities, we went over the timeline and provided great advice, like having the father of the bride and groom speeches at our rehearsal dinner to save on time. Del was a huge part of our wedding from start to finish. He worked closely with us during the planning to ensure that we had everything we needed from a ceremony sound system to DJ and Master of Ceremonies services and more. Del has a great personality and made the planning process a breeze as he was super organized. My fiance had a few specific versions of songs that she wanted )some of them just snippets of the song) and Del responded back to her quickly letting her know that was no problem at all. He really made her feel at ease that everything was going to go smoothly on our wedding day...and it definitely did. Owning a DJ company myself I must say I was pretty amazed at the quality of gear that Del used for our ceremony. Knowing just how important a ceremony is means that he's not going to leave anything to chance...and it sounded great! At our reception Del was the definition of a Master of Ceremonies. He ran the show from start to finish and did so in a fun yet professional manner so that our guests felt at ease interacting with him. As a special surprise to my fiance I brought in one of her favorite musicians to sing our first dance. Del knew this was a surprise so as the musician was coming out to setup Del distracted my fiancé by coming over to our head table and talking to her on the mic. When Del knew that the musician was set he simply asked the two of us to follow him to the dance floor for our first dance...and only then did my fiance see the musician and she was completely surprised. I think there are a lot of DJ's that can mix and mash music well and Del is no exception in that regard but it takes a lot of talent, practice, and hard work to truly become a Master of Ceremonies. Of course Del kept the dance floor packed all night and was even able to bring some extra gear for us (highly recommend renting his lasers and extra sub if your venue will allow it). His ability to jump between genres and properly mix songs together is unparalleled. On top of all that, Del worked well with our meeting planner and was very involved throughout the evening.
