We had the absolute privilege of working with Jacqueline to plan our wedding in Paradise Cove on Oahu. We live in Australia and we planned our wedding at very short notice. Similarly to Holly's review, we contacted WOW and had what seemed to be a productive call with Kendall. She was the first planner that we spoke with and the conversation went very well. We discussed all of the details and our preferences and Kendall gave us some great insights. We are looking to have a smaller wedding, ideally on a beach, with a reception at the house we rented. Kendall was very receptive on the call and mentioned that she would get back in touch with us shortly with details on venue options and quotes. However, after a week, we followed up and have still not heard back. Like Holly F mentioned in her review, perhaps since our wedding is a bit smaller, it wasn't worth Kendall's time. I was very glad I chose WOW for our Maui wedding in May 2017. I had spoken to a few different places and all were "nice" and probably would have done an ok job, but I was drawn to the professionalism and polish of WOW, and they really came through for us. In planning a destination wedding and having very little "control" of the small details, there is a lot of trust that has to be placed with the wedding planner. We worked with Kendall for our wedding and I could not have been happier. She was helpful in teaching me some Hawaiian, but also helpful in providing me some guidance on what is reasonable or customary with respect to certain aspects of the process. (I have never planned a wedding before, let alone one that is thousands of miles away.) Kendall worked through all of the components, provided follow up and checklists that I found very helpful. For reference, we decided on the Old Lahaina Luau package, as we had a rather small guest list and we really loved our previous experience at OLL. We thought it was a great way to have a BIG party, even though we had only 9 guests. Plus, our guest also had the perfect excuse to attend their first luau! When it came to the wedding day, Kendall and everyone that was expected to be there for our wedding were there on time, ready to go and there was not a single thing missed. The maile, leis, cake, photographer, musician and officiant were all truly perfect. Everyone made sure our day was ours and it was great to finally be there to relax and enjoy our special moment. I truly can say that going with Kendall (WOW) was a great choice. I have zero regrets and I look back on the whole process and our wedding as a positive and once in a lifetime moment, as it should be. On April 15, 2017, I married the love of my life and my best friend in the world in beautiful Sugar Beach in Kihei Maui. I'm native Hawaiian and have family and friends spread all over the US. My husband is Australian and has family and friends spread all over Australia, Japan and Europe. We both currently live in New York City so choosing a wedding destination was a challenge. When we landed on Maui it was daunting to consider planning from such a distance , made worse because we own a start-up together and struggle mightily to find spare time on the best of days. Nalani was my coordinator at White Orchid. She did a fantastic job of listening to us, understanding our aesthetic and presenting options that worked. We did NOT stay within budget but then, do you ever? She did however try to present options that were in range and worked with us when things were just a bit too much. I couldn't have planned this wedding by myself, but with the help of Nani and WOW, when the day came, it was absolutely perfect. Venue: Sugar Beach Sugar Beach Events was the perfect spot for my 115 guests. It is a gorgeous self-contained venue. The garden looks down on the beach and the reception hall opens up to the garden (which opens up to the beach). I saw the venue once before booking it but it blew my mind the day of. My friends won't stop talking about the outrigger canoes that just happened to canoe past the venue during the ceremony. I swear it wasn't planned. Catering: Sugar Beach Events Both annoying and actually very conveniently, if you go with Sugar Beach you're basically locked into their food and alcohol. Luckily, the food is FANTASTIC and Chef Lee's creative presentation is remarkable. Fresh, local ingredients, creative diverse options and beautiful presentation. I don't LIKE wedding cake, but I liked the cake Chef Lee made. Yes, she's that good. Florist: Dellables How does someone you've never met know you so well? If there is a better florist on the island of Maui (or really, in the state of Hawaii), I don't care to meet them because Della is my idea of perfection. Kendall and Carolee were amazing and managed to put my wedding together in less than a month during COVID. They were both so professional, responsive, and helpful throughout the whole process. Kendall was so accommodating with my constantly changing plans & expanding guest list. She had taken me all around the island to look at their different venues earlier in 2019, but when COVID hit we knew were limited in the amount of people we could invite and were worried about Maui County changing the guidelines on gatherings. For me, a wedding optimizes an opportunity to join two souls together in commitment and love; to weather the storms of life and to build a life together. I am so fortunate to have had a wedding that far exceeded any dream I had. My now husband and I had planned to get married June 6th, 2020, about a year prior. Then, covid hit. As expected, the wedding had to wait. In the grand scheme of everything, my husband and I knew above everything, we wanted a wedding that would be safe amidst the chaos and uncertainty. It was also important to us that we have the most important people in our lives there to witness our commitment and love and to celebrate. We entered the planning of this wedding with little clue of what a "covid wedding" would look like. We feared becoming one of the "super spreader" weddings we saw on the news. Being that we both work in health care, we knew this had to be prevented at all costs even if that meant waiting till a far future date. Initially, we had planned to have the wedding at Kula Community Center, however, any future dates that were proposed were not available. We then approached Kendall about the White Orchid beach house as a possible venue. Just stepping on the property, my husband and I knew it was a magical place. Being both from Maui, we felt that it was an incredible place to celebrate love-amidst one of the more beautiful locations that Maui has to offer. I contacted WOW(via email) right after I got engaged in 2009. Stacey emailed me back promptly and we started planning. We had a small budget and planned on having only 35-40 guests. We set our wedding date for July 27, 2010. I originally wanted to get married on the beach but Stacey pointed out that you can't have any canopies or chairs on the beaches in Maui and that the sand can get pretty hot in July. She recommended the White Orchid Beach House and after looking at pictures, I fell in love with the house. We had a year of planning and Stacey was really good at sending me vendor information and getting things booked in a timely manner. Although I did feel I had to email her to remind her I was still around. I was able to pick my first choice pastor which I was thrilled about and they only other vendor that I needed was a photographer. The photographer wasn't a huge deal for me because my sister was going to be taking pictures as well so we didn't want to pay extra for a photo package. Stacey gave me a list of two photographers to choose from and they both were not available for my wedding. So she ended up booking another guy, Donald Nakooka. I wasn't too impressed with his website but I figured the pictures came with the package so I get what I pay for. After looking up this guy, I found out he used to be a Maui PD officer (well, ex-officer). I found out he shot himself and played it off as if he got shot by someone else while on duty. There was this huge man hunt for the suspect. Later it came out he made the story up. I would think WOW would look into things like this when adding them to your vendor list. Knowing this before I booked him, I wouldn't have booked him. Everything was planned for our wedding and I felt very comfortable with how things had proceeded. The only thing up to this point I would have changed, was I would have liked Stacey to contact me to make sure everything was in place and ready to go. It seemed I was always the one to email and see if things were progressing as they should. A week or days before our scheduled departure, Stacey emailed me and said regretfully she would not be able to be at the wedding due to family affairs. I totally understood and was okay with the person she was going to leave in charge, Nancy. Nancy called me the day after I landed and said everything was set up to go. I didn't feel I needed to ask any questions because Stacey and I had the list of what was to be arranged and I assumed she passed it on. The day of the wedding, we were running late....Uggg. We were to be at the beach house by 9am and I think we got there a half our late or so due to my family running behind. When I walked into the back yard to go into the house, I saw the chairs set up, but no canopy. I asked Nancy where the canopy was and she asked if I was supposed to have one? UH. YES...I paid extra for that. She said she would have to SEE if I had paid for it. WHAT? Really, you are going to question me? Ok. She made a call and found out that yes, I was supposed to have a canopy but she couldn't get a hold of anyone to bring a canopy. We waited patiently for 45 minutes and then finally the canopy showed up. I was a little upset because we had to be at the Maui Magic Charter for our reception at a certain time and this just pushed everything back and now I have less time for photographs. :( The canopy was set up quickly and the ceremony proceeded fabulously! Everyone loved the beach house, and it was such a perfect morning for weather and I couldn't have asked for a better ceremony. Now it was time to cut the cake and I think Nancy was in charge of that. Well, when I ordered my cake, it had two layers and the bakery said that if cut correctly, I won't have any left overs. PERFECT because we are going on a boat right after the ceremony and I didn't want any left overs. Everyone got cake and when it was time to leave, Nancy handed me one entire layer of my cake! Are you kidding me? What am I supposed to do with this? Then I found out they only cut up and served one layer and everyone got such tiny pieces they had to go back for more. Each layer was different and we did it that way so there would be one chocolate and one vanilla for those who didn't like the other. Well, cutting up one layer didn't give anyone a choice. I was so bummed about that. Also, they didn't save us any of the cake they had cut up. That was MY favorite layer. So bummed! Stacey emailed me after the wedding and asked me to send her pictures from our reception. I did so and explained about the canopy and the cake situation. I NEVER got a response back. You would think she would email me back and apologize. I got nothing. I would still recommend this place but had I to do over again, I would have taken charge more. I didn't feel I had to, but now I see I should have over seen the small details. read more

So, here's what happened...why I gave this company 1 star... I emailed the company waited two weeks..no response. Okay fine, it might be Hawaiian time so let me call. I called and I talked to Steven. Everything sounded good. I emailed him and I never got a response. So I called again and he told me it must've been in the spam box. Okay fine. He gave me a quote right away and I told him I would have to think about the two locations I was going back and forth on. It has been a few weeks and he never called to follow up. A wedding is such a big moment in a girl's life and especially if its a destination wedding where you're trusting a coordinator to take care of things from far away. I cant put my trust in Steven to plan my big day. I'm not a needy person, but if I were a wedding coordinator, I would make sure I at least touch base. It seems like he doesn't care for my business. So, I am taking it elsewhere and just lost a customer :( read more

Jackie Ishikawa of WOW was our wedding planner and she was fantastic. She coordinated the most beautiful wedding -- beyond what I had hoped. We had our wedding at the Olowalu Plantation House & based on the few pictures I gave to her, Jackie and her talented design team (a big round of applause to florist extraordinaire Teresa Sena, who works closely with WOW) created an absolute vision. People are still talking about the wonderful reception set up they created. Even dudes who are normally oblivious to wedding decor, commented that the reception set up was gorgeous & said it was the best wedding they'd attended. I cannot give Jackie enough credit for making sure everything was taken care of. Also, WOW gave us such a wonderful welcome gift when we arrived in Maui. They delivered to our hotel room a gorgeous (and massive) gift basket with a very useful beach bag with all sorts of goodies and snacks. It was such a nice touch & awesome start to our wedding week. I found White Orchid Wedding on the internet. I worked with Bernie Freitas to plan my daughter's wedding. I couldn't say enough positives about this company or Bernie. Our situation was a little complicated as well. My daughter lives in Australia, was marrying an Australian and their wedding was the the White Orchid Beach House and I'm in Houston as the mother of the bride! Bernie referred us to terrific vendors. We had a wide range of choices for cakes, photography, food, florist etc. She covered the little details like limos and dress steaming. All the vendors were top shelf and delivered the goods We had time before the wedding to meet and walk through the wedding day schedule and do a very basic rehearsal. The day of the wedding was absolutely perfect and low stress. I believe their pricing was very fair and they had a good contract and progress payment process. She was the first planner I spoke with on Maui and I was excited to get the ball rolling since planning at home during the pandemic has been difficult. I was interested in the white orchid beach house which she told me would not be available because it would probably be going through renovations. Big disappointment but not the end of the world. She told me she was going to followup with some information on other venue locations and share quotes but I never heard back from her. There were a few moments of freak out for me in regards to things that weren't getting done in the time frame I wanted but Bernie was cool, calm and collected through my ups and downs and her busy season. My husband and I knew upon getting engaged 11 months ago that we had to get married in Maui, but had no idea even where to start being that we live in Bakersfield, CA. After reading countless reviews, we knew that WOW was the way to go. It is so hard to let go of all the details, but Patty, our coordinator was spot on every step of the way. Our experience with White Orchid Wedding was truly unforgettable. From the first conversation with our coordinator Patty Flax to the very last one I knew we were well taken care of. I pretty much went with all of her suggestions when it came to the location, flowers, cake, hair and makeup and photographer. Patty is such a professional and she knows exactly what she is doing. We loved working with Kendall! and highly recommend WOW. Planning a wedding is a daunting task and Kendall did a wonderful job of being calm, cool and collected. She help guide us through each step and was able to capture everything we had envisioned. She ensured we had all of our basis covered (as when planning there are many things you tend to forget or don't even realize you need) Kendall did a wonderful job of making sure every little detail was put together perfectly so we didn't have to worry. Our wedding was an absolutely amazing and unforgettable day we will cherish forever!! We were recently married in Maui, Hawaii and used WOW to help us coordinate our wedding. We were assigned to Jacqueline; Jackie was super professional, patient, flexible, and detail oriented throughout the entire planning process. I worked with wedding coordinator, Kendall Oreta, of A White Orchid Wedding in Maui, HI for my Maui destination wedding. She and A White Orchid Wedding were actually recommended to us initially as a top planner from a 5 star resort here. I interviewed several of their recommendations and Kendall was the only one that blew me away. Where to even begin... I was one of the lucky COVID brides who started planning my dream wedding in 2019 with Kendall, to be delayed twice, with a final wedding date of May 2021. I have several friends who were also COVID brides and I can tell you from firsthand knowledge, none were as lucky or were in the same hands that we were; not even close. And that is all because of Kendall. I have never worked with someone before who is so genuinely kind and positive, works as hard, is as dedicated to making your dreams come true, and who I respect more. Truly. Not once during the multiple reschedules, shifting venues and vendors, and the chaos of planning this wedding over a two year period did she ever become fazed or waiver in our planning process. And as a result I put a LOT of trust in her... I delegated pretty much every last detail to her because we moved to two different states during those two years and I had a lot on my plate and not for a second did I second guess that decision. She is an absolute professional and hands down one of the most patient and most attentive to detail people I have ever met. But I was waiting his reply for 8 days and he never response me. The beach house and wedding plans are looks very attracted. But I am very disappointed the company and him. I got married in Maui, and my wedding was so beautiful. I had a very tight budget and my coordinator Barbara Gerraty helped me through it all. Carolee the CEO of WOW was very helpful with the planning as well. This group of people really do want you to have a amazing wedding to remember. I loved the caterer they chose and the decor at the Olowalu Plantation House was amazing along with the beach behind it all. My wife (Sanna) and I were married at the White Orchid Beach House through White Orchid Weddings in September 2015. This review will be focused primarily on the venue and our wonderful coordinator Jacqueline Ishikawa. The Venue First off, holy crap is this place beautiful! Our wedding wasn't the first wedding in Hawaii, however, it was absolutely the most beautiful (bias of my own wedding removed from that opinion). The water crashing right at sunset with the sun setting is absolutely breathtaking. The dinner setting with the lights above at night were so cool. Jacqueline absolutely was the best! We had friends who were married in Hawaii and had some disastrous incidences happen with other companies. We are so pleased we went with White Orchard Weddings (WOW) and grateful we had Jacqueline helping us. I regularly work 60+ hour weeks so my contribution to planning was piss poor. My wonderful wife was so stressed out with planning a destination wedding and all of the logistics that went with it. Jacqueline really helped removed the difficulty from all the parts she was able to. Everything went exactly as planned and she had a contingency plan for rain. Fortunately, it wasn't needed. Furthermore, she was extremely responsive with text messages and e-mail. If you are looking to offload some stress with a wedding planner I can wholeheartedly recommend Jacqueline at WOW. She will take care of you and make your special day as pain free as possible! 5/5 for WOW at the Beach House with Jacqueline. Working with Kendall Oreta and WOW was a total dream. We cannot recommend them enough. Planning a destination wedding while navigating the pandemic was no small feat, and there is no way we could have pulled it off with out Kendall's incredible expertise. Kendall's professionalism, top-notch organizational skills, and just generally wonderful personality made the entire wedding process a complete joy. With careful research and incredible thoughtfulness, Kendall dove head first into helping us incorporate Persian elements, including an elaborate sofreh aghd table, into our ceremony. Kendall also worked with us to find a planning style that worked for me and my husband's busy work schedules. She's a communication genius and kept us on task and on schedule (we definitely didn't make it easy!). Kendall was also fantastic at helping us determine what really mattered to us-- she was so receptive to concerns and uncertainties and really helped us create a wedding that was ultimately personal and meaningful (and super fun and beautiful!). It's abundantly clear that Kendall really cares about creating a personal, thoughtful experience and it really shines through in everything she does.
