Sadly this location does not have a cafe, unlike there only other Hawai'i location at Ala Moana on Oahu. However, they more than make up for it with the overall feel of the store. As this location is much smaller than Ala Moana, it gives more of an independent bookstore vibe. There are plenty of books, manga, kids section, magazines, and other types of merchandise such as those for K-pop, crochet, and some limited selection of cds. No DVDs unfortunately. They also sell nook merchandise but I didn't see a display for the actual e-reader/tablets. Probably you will have to ask the cashier if you want to buy them. So be quick and come on down to Barnes and Noble. There are some good deals, but if you just use their premium membership you get 10% off almost everything or if you use their basic rewards membership after 10 stamps you get a $5 reward. 1 stamp for every $10 spent in a purchase.

While heading off to the mainland today, I guess I must have misplaced my phone charger/phone cord, and unfortunately since I didn't have my computer bag with me, I had none of my cell phone accessories. When I landed on Maui this morning, lucky for me I saw this - "News Stand" so I decided to take a quick stroll into this little business to see if they had what I was looking for. After looking around, BINGO! Sure enough they had what I was looking for........the little "News Stand" is a LIFESAVER! Prices are airport-high and ridiculous, but if you're in a pinch since you didn't stop at Walmart... The reporting of US mainland and world coverage is very limited and they don't feature a lot of entertaining stories either. Online access is free with a paid print subscription. I like the "Scene" insert on Thursdays which features events happening on the rock as well as the dining section with Entertainment Tonight-like reporting. I also enjoy the pictures of their excellent staff photographer Matthew Thayer. My only complaint stems from the way the car section in the classified ads is listed. Instead of ascending from oldest to newest, it oddly starts with the year 2000 till the current year, then 1900 till 1999. Come on!?
