Even better, he provides updates on the entire progress (island life requires shipping which can take time). He is very professional and experienced. Cody suggested the Liftmaster 412, solar powered gate operating system. This allowed me to avoid cutting concrete, running electrical lines, and removing landscape. It also provides solar power (Keahou is really sunny) and enough battery life to outlast any power failures. My gates are steel with bamboo and weigh quite a bit but, not even half the rated weight for the Liftmaster system. Cody welded on the brackets, positioned the solar, and used my existing paint to match up the weld points. Take a look at the video - this system is quiet! No wheels, no chains! Both gates have failed due to sagging and fence installation was sloppy. Gates: front main gate was installed a little low but seemed ok. Cody told me that epoxy was taking time to set due to humidity. However, gate sagged more before he left and he ended up digging up front yard to "make gate open". He blamed problem on me since I decided gate should open inward instead of outward, however, installation was done after decision was made for inward change. I was so furious that I really couldn't talk to him as I didn't want to go off! Second gate opened and worked fine but after 2 weeks it also sagged and started hitting driveway causing obstruction. Both gates have failed and are inoperable!! Cody told me that fencing was not his specialty so he really should not have charged me a few thousand dollars for a bad installation. Hog wire was hung upside down and most fence posts are either lose or cracked due to cement either not being mixed or sub par product used. I feel completely ripped off and should NOT have paid the final payment as gates must be re-hung and fence will need to be re-done as well.

The couple that came was husband and his wife joined, since it was at my home. They spent several hours diagnosing and I was told I needed to replace the motor, I ordered the motor and called the company back to schedule an appointment to install my motor. I heard back a week later via a voice message which started with "I am married "which is creepy unprofessional, and very uncomfortable so I kept my distance while Rod was installing the motor. I would normally watch to make things were doing done properly. Rod finished installing the motor and left four screws out! I asked where do they belong no answer! I sent emails complaining about the screws and they just brushed me aside and will not acknowledge the problem. I explained that it's similar to not securing the footings when you're building a home. My bill for diagnosing was $266 which Rod and his wife Tamy said, included their time, I paid the bill. The bill for installing the motor was $428.09 one person 45 minutes, there seems to be a major discrepancy financially here. This was one of the most uncomfortable, nonprofessional companies I've ever dealt with and Jamie . The office manager is a bully to boot. I really don't want to pay them a penny however, I will pay them something but certainly the fee they're asking for which they did not tell me upfront. I've been trying to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau to resolve this matter. However, the website is down. I will not give up.

Ryan and Jasmine are the perfect hosts and they both radiate the love they have for the land, and everyone who joins them at the Sanctuary can feel it. When you put your foot on the land you can feel the love they have for the land and can see everything it is giving back. The land vibrates at a frequency that flows over you and clams your nervous system. Within minutes of being there you feel the calmness and serenity of the land and find yourself taking a deep breath exhaling and feel your body relaxing. Walking the land and seeing what Ryan is doing with his planting practices makes you understand what is happening there. It rained most nights when we were there and the gentle pattering of the rain on the roof is a wonderful way to fall asleep. If you're lucky enough to be there during rainy season you will understand why they call it a rain forest. There are so many fruit trees on the property there is always something fresh to pick or new fruit to try. There is a banana plant before the gate to the parking area where you can grab a few bananas before you take off for a day of adventures around the island. If you stay on the big island, staying a few nights at Hamakua Sanctuary will be the highlight of your trip, but I suggest a few weeks to really get to know the land and people who visit the sanctuary. We met so many wonderful people in the outdoor kitchen every morning at breakfast with baskets of fresh fruit and veggies picked and ready for you to cut up and sample. Some mornings we would all eat together and talk about our adventures the prior day. Connecting with people from all over the country and world. I know someone will roll their eyes and think this is too woo woo for me, but I guarantee within 10 minutes of stepping onto the land you'll be thinking, damn she was right!

My absolute favorite part of my stay was connecting with Ryan, his friends, the other guests, and the folks who have come to work on the 'aina and be part of Ryan's program. The space itself goes above and beyond. The house is beautiful, well-kept, well-appointed, extremely clean, peaceful and serene, with character for days. The sheets and bedding are luxurious. Stunning, sun-soaked kitchen. Cute bathroom with a full tub! Gorgeous, big screened-in lanai (porch) for yoga, meditation, reading, or what have you. Separate structure just below the main house offers a peaceful little meditation studio. I have never seen anything like it. It was a joy to putter around the property and sit with all the wonderful beings that live there - from humans to dog and cat friends, duckies, and birds. The road on which this property is situated is quiet and pastoral with beautiful vistas, flowers, trees and more along the way. I highly recommend taking a leisurely stroll during your stay. Mana Loli was exactly what I needed, and if you feel drawn to it, it will be exactly what you need, too.
