It's a perfect minimalistic home (were this place in Seattle, the price would be CRAY). Every inch of this place is just SO pleasant to look at; that's why living and taking walks in here is awesome. The great things: Safety (gate&everything) Affordability Location Very recently made (thus clean and new looking) Garages the trash section outside (yes you have to pack it in your car trunk and drive to throw a lot out) Microwave Bathrooms Living room Installed heater system Our own laundry room (very spacious...nail racks high up on the walls and turn it into a closet also!) The fake fireplace; looks pretty (on top you can place your tv...looks baller and saves space) Balcony (if you live on the upstairs...every apartment is one floor I'm pretty sure. It's just upstairs to your garage not to other rooms) Neighbors Clean grass and trimmed trees Parking The small fitness room!!! The small downside: -The FRIDGE (maybe it's because we have 4 ravenous people in this 2-bedroom apartment who shouldn't be occupying such a small place anyways, but the fridge in the kitchen is only one of 2 refrigerators that we have since it does not hold a lot.) -The stove (glass top, looks cool and luxurious but doesn't heat fast or strongly enough for people who cook all the time...like my family.) -Getting out onto Pacific ave. takes a while sometimes but you get used to it. -Getting in and out of the gates takes a while for the gate to open but you get used to it (you get a button to enter the apartment, and you don't need it when you're getting out. It automatically opens) Living here is peaceful to the mind, heart, eye, and soul.

Alpine Way in Shelton has had a long time wonderful reputation for the quality of food they serve…read moretheir residents. However, that has completely changed in the last 15 months or so. The food quality is pathetic, often worse than institutional food. They produce a fancy menu that has all kinds of exotic names of dishes to cover up inedible meals. Food served to the independent dining room residents is often cold and dried out. Very little fresh veggies are served. Bagged frozen vegetables, and everything laden with sauce to cover up poor quality meats. Residents have complained to deaf ears through the administrator. Promises, promises, promises are all they've supplied for over a year. If you are looking for an independent senior apartment or assisted living, consider that meals are a very important part of each day for people living in these situations and often they have very little else to look forward too. Olympia has some finer options with administrators that listen and see that changes are made. Shame on you Cascade Living and Alpine Way.

Vince Himlie at Windermere Shelton turned out to be a very shrewd and clever operator…read more My real estate agent was convinced we had solved a problem with my loan near the end of a long and difficult escrow on one of Vince's listings and that the sale would now go through. Vince had been somewhat vague and not very forthcoming the last few critical days leading up to the close, but we still felt quite confident on the last day of escrow when he agreed to accept a filing asking for a bit more time. We had disclosed in detail with him the glitch we had just resolved and had every reason to believe he would grant the request. The next day I got a surprise call from my agent stating our deal had fallen apart and that the home had been sold to someone else. It seems that Vince had lined up his own buyer and had intended to sell the home to this buyer for several days. By not disclosing his true intentions and distracting us with a bogus filing on that last day, he precluded any possibility of my settling and saving the home with my own cash. His last minute timing was clearly intentional and had a devastating effect. He was able to inform my agent the very next morning that it was too late for us to do anything in that he already had a signed contract. He also possibly cashed in with a much larger sales commission. I believe Vince Himlie's actions were calculated, misleading, even cold hearted, especially with my agent having had many candid face to face meetings with him. He was also quite aware that my agent had months of hard work and a large commission at stake. He apparently had no qualms about snatching all this away. I should mention the home we lost was a one in a million gem that had taken nearly a year to find. I was heart broken and also furious at having been blindsided and deceived in such a manner. There was also a strong sense of betrayal. Vince, with his vast experience in real estate, had generally conveyed a tone of understanding and good will, that is, before he put the knife in at the end.

I have lived at these apartments for the past 4, going on 5, years and my experience has been all…read morearound fantastic. This is the best place I have lived so far in Olympia. At Bayview the rent is cheap by Olympia standards and the utility cost low, the buildings are extremely clean and well maintained, the landscaping and overall maintenance is top notch. There is an on-site repair person who is very responsive to any difficulties I have had (which have been very few). The apartment manager is also very helpful and responsive, in addition to being a genuinely nice person. The people who live here are for the most part very nice and/or keep to themselves. I have never felt unsafe here, although there has been an occasional car break-in or bike stolen over the years. The buildings themselves are well lit at night. The only downsides would be if you are loud and/or like to have lots of people over frequently. Most of the apartments house single residents, and the owners like to keep things quiet/low key. Also, because the apartments are so clean to begin with, there is a good chance you will not get all of your deposit back- which I have heard people complain about. Honestly, I consider it a fair trade off when all is said and done- I have lived in many a moldy, dingy Olympia rental and this place has zero mold issues and is cleaner than any place I have lived in. Despite raising multiple maintenance issues and requesting clarifications on overspend, they were slow to respond (if at all), and the issues went unresolved for months. Even after asking for a breakdown of the costs and a deferment of payment while awaiting answers, they continued to impose late fees and even threatened court action. Their lack of transparency, poor communication, and unwillingness to address valid concerns are unacceptable. If you're looking for a management company that values customer service, avoid Gateway Property Management at all costs.

So I tried getting all my stuff packed and moved before my surgery but fell short and when I asked for an extra week to get the rest of my belongings because I physically was unable I was told it was against the law to give me a week.
