I found this interesting and went on their website later that weekend and learned that, at Loft, "Living life fully means women choose to play all their roles with confidence and style." I spent some sifting through the clearance racks and noticed they had an array for sizes in regards to pants. I can hardly ever find "L" pants, meaning LONG. This really excited me! I inquired at the registers. I was informed that the store carries pants up to size 12 in store. Anything large is available on line. Same goes for Long pants in any size (For this, they lose a star.) I also noticed some "petite" and "short" sizes for pants. I did not inquire about their availability as I do not wear those, but its a heads up for those of you who struggle to find those sizes too. I think part of the problem stems from a misperception of who the target customer is and what that customer really wants. First of all, not all women of a certain age wish to wear oversized clothes in drab colors. Secondly, the sizing is very inconsistent/unpredictable amongst items. For example, I could wear one of 4 sizes in tees and sweaters dependent on the piece. Also, there is a big mark-up on the clothes only to be marked down within a ten day period or so but no longer are the reasonable clearance prices that remain from the past. Overall, the styling needs an overhaul which can be redundant at times. Twenty years ago, the clothes was comfortable and casual yet had a bit of pizazz. Bring it back, please.

The store isn't perfect, but there aren't a ton of great options for plus clothes. The offerings can be hit or miss, but when they are a hit, they are a big hit for me. I was searching high and low for real dress pants. This is only of the only places I can find pants that have any actual weight to them. Most dress pants I try in other stores are super thin and you can see the outline of the pockets right through the leg. They also have a lot of horrible pants with have no buttons or zippers - just elastic waist weirdness that I could never wear to work. I have just discovered they have a great shoe selection. I have wide feet and I like classic pumps and boots and they have both. None of their boots are real leather, which I think is great. I do have an hour glass figure and I have found nice things here, but I have the opposite experience of Lindsay. I think the tops tend to be too shapeless and too roomy in the midsection. I've gotten a couple suit jackets here, but I can't count on finding one any time I walk in the store. If I find a great jacket, it could be a year or two before they have another one I want to buy. One of the biggest cons for LB is that they seem to carry a very limited number of each size and when it's gone, it's gone, and the staff will just tell you to look for it online. This stuff is more expensive than your average store and for a lot of what they have, it's not worth it. However, they do have some nice pieces that are worth the expense.

A definite "must visit" for anyone a fan of the rockabilly or pin-up styles.
