The Kum & Go has a big enough parking area for semi's. From the outside you can clearly see that…read morethey had a big McDonald's and quite a few fuel pumps as well as diesel ones. Just inside the entrance is a big empty space. Walking in I noticed t-shirts, keychain and purses on the left. On the right was the food area. They had slices of pizza in a outbox, the roller grill wasn't on of course with the virus pandemic. Past the food was more items for sale. My husband was looking for a pigtail that plugs into the light, which they didn't have. Everything looked clean to me even the restrooms, which also were big. There was stalls on both sides of the wall, with a separating wall between for the sink area. It looks very nice and I love the stone walls. Last, we got fountain drinks and went to check out. The cashier was an older lady that looked grumpy, she had been standing in the same place behind the register since we came in. She didn't smile, but had a face more like the opposite. I kind of hated to bother her, but we did, ran our card and left. Outside of the entrance is a marker, I didn't take time to read it but got a quick snapshot to read later.

I cannot understand how the (now) 7 employees that I've interacted with over 3 separate visits had to be so rude. Could it be because they are slammed and are unstaffed? Likely. What is management thinking? If these employees are this bad, hire better. If they're bad because they're overworked and stressed, hire more before you loose the good ones. I'm leaning toward bad management. I just find it highly unlikely that there are that many bad employees here. They must be over worked and understaffed, and overwhelmed. They have to be. The store has great deals on $1 any size drinks (including icees!). Gum 2/$2.22, candies 2/$3. Red Bull 2 for a discounted price (I cant remember what it is). Bathrooms are nice, and clean for as heavily used as they are. But again, understaffed and need someone monitoring more frequently. It is a nice facility in a prime location. Has the potential to be stellar. I will avoid this establishment for the next few months and try again later. Hopefully it will get better.

Tried to buy gas today; it didn't go well. The pump wouldn't accept any credit card. We went…read moreinside and waited in line. Finally getting to the counter, the guy said "Yeah, our new pumps don't work very good. You have to pre-pay." (Sure would've been nice if there had been a sign saying so.) So we pre-payed. Went back to the pump, and it still wouldn't pump! Went back inside. Waited in a long line again. Reaching the register, we asked for our money back. The guy was like, "What kind of gas did you say you wanted?", and we said "91". "OH! I entered 'Plus' (89)". Really? The effing pump won't work without pre-picking the exact right octane? We got our money back. Went to Stillwater and bought gas at a station that knew how to sell it.

But there were several interesting things about this stop. First, they have an area off the parking lots with pony's. Inside the store, they encourage people to write messages on the wall (asking them to keep comments suitable for work) and the walls are covered with writing. The store also carries some items not usually seen in rural gas stops, including Icelandic drinking water. The store is decorated in a Western theme and was fun to walk around in. Although the gas pumps don't take Apple Pay, the store registers do. Easy access from the Interstate and back onto it.
