Jay Kim at Max Photo and Decor is a superior photo technician! He has been processing my film since the late 90's (especially Fuji, as I had learned early on that he used Fuji chemicals-for a better result with the Fuji films I started using exclusive). He actually told me he had gotten his degree in electronics, and that is why he is able to keep his photo equipment working so well. He can scan any size film. He even does 110 film, which no one in Tampa Bay Area still does, as well as up to 4x5 film. He excels in scanning, color processing (which you cannot find anywhere else in Tampa), organizing your negatives and slides after making the scans into jpegs or tiff files, and ordering them onto DVDs and CDs to match your batches of images, so you can keep track of your images. That is a great service. The images are of a high quality. His turnaround time is impressive, given all that he does. On 8-23-18, I dropped off 88 slides, 125 negatives for scanning to CD and he had the CD ready for me on Monday 9-8-18. On July 18th, I dropped off 288 slides for transparency scanning and 6 rolls of 24 exposure negatives (uncut, whole negs) and 4 rolls of 36 exposure transparencies (also, uncut, whole strips of film). He sleeved them all into Archival negative preservers for me, cutting them to fit into 'Print File", which I can now put into a 3-ring binder. It does not get any better than that, and he had it all done onto 1 DVD by 7-31-18. I just recently dropped off (a lot) 2 ¼ x 2 ¼ negatives (from my parents old Rolleiflex camera and 2 ¼ and 3 ¼ images from my Mamiya Sekor RB-67. My experience with Jay has been great. He is very professional. The first time I came in the store I was desperate to find someone who could make a big picture and frame it out of a very small, 120 years' old black and white photograph. Jay not only worked quickly, he managed to improve the picture, clearly show all the little faces, it looks absolutely beautiful. The price was very reasonable too. It now has a prominent place in the board room of our office. Passport pictures are done quickly and very professionally. He also tells you honestly whether a picture that you bring in will have the result you expect or not, which I can appreciate. I've used Max Photo & Decor for several projects over the years! I am picky about my printing however since I no longer have access to large format printers, I have had to outsource my prints. They have never disappointed! I always know I will get high-quality prints and it's generally one less thing I have to worry about. They also process all of my 35mm and 120 film as well. Many of the things I shoot on film are sentimental in some way or another and Max Photo & Decor treats my film with care. After frustration with how awful CVS photos turned out, I stopped in to Max Photo to get a quote on two 4x6 and one 5x7 print. Mr. Kim greeted me and treated me as if I was putting in an expensive order - he went over my options, made some suggestions, and said they would be ready next day (I came in late in the day) and at a very reasonable price. Next day comes and I drop in shortly after they open. Mr. Kim remembered who I was and what I ordered and went over my photos. To my surprise, he edited the photos so they turned out much better than I thought possible (they were taken in low light areas at night). I couldn't ask for better service or better quality. My wife had several hundred old 35mm slides to digitize from her father. Max Photo did a great job. They came out better than when we projected them. We shopped around and Max was a better price with more hands on service. They also gave us larger files in case we needed to make large prints in the future. I was recommended this place from a friend. I wanted to give my husband a framed picture from out trip to Yellowstone that my son took. I needed it for Saturday, our anniversary. Service provided was excellent. Brought in 70-80 year old small photo of my grandfather that was in rough shape. They digitally enhanced the sharpness as well as cleaning up the torn corners of a 2"x3" and made high quality 5x7 and 8x10 copies. I needed a Canadian citizenship photo and the usual places that do passport photos (CVS/Walgreens and such) couldn't handle the size requirements.
