Our stay concluded here with a lunch for our two families totaling 23 people. Our 12pm reservation was upstairs. We ended up taking over the whole space overlooking the view downstairs. My cousin Diana basically took care of everything. She ordered for all of us with exception of the teenagers who wanted to eat fried foods. Based on what came my way, the highlights were: Bistek tagalog - it left me wanting more rice Puso ng saging - hands down everyone's favorite. So much so we ordered one to go to bring to our family in Manila. We're from Bicol and have this dish regularly when we're there so finding it here after we had just left Bicol certainly was no coincidence Halo halo - best one I had. PERIODT We only ordered one which the kids ended up hogging to themselves since it was that good Turon - fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiire The kids had fish & chips which I was told was good. The ambience here is it. You're transported in time as soon as you walk in. It reminded me of places in Vigan. Even the decor had us staring. My sister wanted to buy one of the paintings, but we were told they weren't for sale. It rained for a few minutes shortly before we left. The garden area looked so breathtaking as it got poured on by so much water. We left full and thankful. The drive back to Manila was so chill. Most of us were knocked out from the best food coma. If you're in the area, this place is a must.

My favorite: Crispy Tilapia - Whole small tilapias split in half and fried until crispy and golden brown. The texture was super enjoyable and it was accompanied by a delicious sauce. Worst item ordered: Kare-Kare - Walang lasa. Super bland. That was surprising to us considering the red hue. Also, why the heck was this kare-kare so red?! Most unique: Tuna sisig - I've enjoyed many different types of sisig but I've never encountered tuna sisig. It was tasty. Didn't have that crispy texture that I love so much but the flavor was nice. It has bones so be careful.

Initially trying out their generous offering of Bulalo along with the tempting offer of 5 pesos per cup of rice, Mang Toto's has since then been at the top of my glutton-and-budget-friendly restaurants list. Grilled in the traditional fashion of Bacolod Inasal, what makes Mang Toto's special is that it's one place that's not about to waste any part of the chicken. Here, you can choose to have them grill a variety of chicken parts including the neck, the butt and even the igado! Dip these in a mix of soy sauce, vinegar, limes and chilies...Next thing you know, you'll be ripping your wallet apart just to find another 5 peso coin for another cup of rice!
