On entering through a fairly plain black door you walk upstairs to find yourself in a lovely room filled with quirky lighting, mis-matched chairs, tables and sofas and with loads of art by local artists on the walls, (most of it for sale). The venue regularly hosts gigs, film nights and quizzes with a different theme each week. Last time I did a film quiz there, one of the rounds was 'who can draw the best picture of Steve Buscemi'! The bar is well stocked with a good range of beers, wine and spirits and also sells snacks like crisps and nuts. It also has a really great sound system and a small area that serves as a stage and dance floor. I went to Scary Canary last night for a birthday party and had a great evening, I would really recommend it as an alternative to all of the chain / old man pubs that are in Stourbridge.

It isn't very big and the décor is quite simple but still the atmosphere is very nice. You can sit at an open fire and enjoy a drink. They have a small menu which is based on normal pub food. To be honest, I haven't eaten here myself but the food I saw looked good.

The pub is excellant , great beer , a little pricey perhaps but i love the place . Additional note , its no longer a Banks's pub its actually the home of the Craddocks Brewery .

For example - the big screen broke before the Grand National, management apologised and quickly got the race up on their laptop and we all gathered round to watch. Then they let us bring chips in from next door (as we were fairly drunk by then). All in all a non pretentious boozer that defines itself as a gay venue but offers all the warmest of welcomes. I urge anyone who is passing through Stourbridge and inclined to support a gay venture to get down there. Oh - it's a Banks's pub and the bitter was brilliant. Anyway, the venue itself is in Stourbridge. I don't know the town well at all, so maybe if you are local you would find it more easily. I had to ask the bus driver, because it's just off the ring round, in an industrial estate below a Domino Pizza (!!), so I was a bit worried where I was ending up! Nevertheless, once greeted by friendly staff and walking inside I was pleasantly surprised. Apparently it has been refurbished recently and I have to say it looks pretty good. It's not a large venue, but has a warm and friendly atmosphere. Wherever you stand you could have a reasonable view of the stage and the sound quality wasn't bad either. A pint of San Miguel was £3.70, which was reasonable for a music venue. Shame about the plastic pint glasses but it seems to be the norm now.

The inside is small and cozy with a traditional looking little wooden bar and great comfy seats. The prices are not too bad and the staff are really friendly, making sure you get a pint instead of waiting at the bar for half an hour. Downstairs (alot of small old-style stairs) is the reason I had first ventured into this place. They have the most atmospheric small stage and crowd area with regular live music from amazing unsigned bands. Plenty of seating, another well staffed bar. Brilliant venue for those that love music and a pint :) The parking is the only issue really. The area is quite residential so you can't park anywhere and there is only a small private car park on the back. This is a common problem for most pubs really though and I guess if you're having a few you don't need to worry about your car! Anyone that wants a good, traditional and friendly Irish pub go check it out. They really have a lot of passion for what they do and that shows by the kind of service you get when you are there. on living close by we used to use the glass works a lot but the food and service was dreadful when…read morewe saw it was being revamp we,ve give it another go we where in the front of house both doors were open it was freezing we ordered a drink try to get out of the cold the only seats were high stools so we decided to go to the lounge found a seat by the bar no menu on table we found some on the next table it read very nice has we sat there the queues got longer to be served there was three staff on they indifferent to the customers as we watch there was only one young man delivering food to customers two men were complaining about the wait A young girl come out of the kitchen with really long hair which she not wearing a net she also had no kitchen whites on she help herself to a coffee we could not deleive she was working with food ererwith hair not tied up she went back in kitchen only for us to see a young man in a base ball cap with long hair with no net this totally up us off ordering any food also there was which we thought was a lady walking round with asheet of paper in her hand she pulled the only sever over to the next table to us to discuss his rotas he looked really fed up then four people came in they had booked a table both bar server behind the bar can no help they called this manager to she just said table for four and walked down the lounge away from they looked at each other then walked after her we decided on to stop we think you should get some staff training or a misterey shopping in to see whats going on we will be going back to witherspoons
