Originally I was looking for counseling to help me navigate my feelings around my mom with ALS, with whom I didn't have a good relationship, and since then, she has helped me grow into such a calm, collected, understanding, and strong person. I'd always considered myself strong, but I was very closed off from certain feelings. I can now feel all the things that arise and not be debilitated by them, including the overwhelming empathy I used to have. I can sit comfortably with people I don't agree with, I've learned the power of listening over simply talking, my marriage is absolutely incredible despite serious health challenges and other things life throws, and I am a truly optimistic person now rather than being more of a "realist" who focused more on possible negative outcomes. Life feels fuller, my career(s) keep evolving into better things, and even when I'm not struggling with any issues actively, I still love to have a session and reflect on the current state of life or possible future goals. He also does sessions over the phone and Skype, so you have lots of options if a trip out west isn't in the cards for you right now. I live in Indianapolis, but got a chance to visit Elevation Center last month while I was in town. I'll admit that I was a little skeptical, never having had any experience with healing/energy work, but Al did a great job of explaining the process to me and making me feel comfortable. We talked about some really sensitive topics, but I never felt awkward or uncomfortable - you can tell that he genuinely wants to help you and will do whatever he can to get you to where you want to be. The night after our session, I fell asleep ridiculously early and slept like a baby. Two days later, I flew home with zero anxiety---that was huge, because I'm one of those people who always thinks the plane is about to crash at any minute for the entire flight.
