Love Maya's location. Total professional employees, served by Soni today since owner was out...and ran in and out in no time. Majority of 'threaders' like myself know there are very few you can trust to do eyebrows right, and this location indeed does it right. Was confidently able to be serviced today by Soni knowing she wouldn't mess with shape/form already predetermined by my favorite beauty consultant here. She totally proved today I can trust her too...Hooray! It's the location folks, you will be satisfied regardless of associate that you get. Can't wait to try them out for henna needs/wants when needed...Hey I have friends with weddings/parties that as guest its super fun to really be apart of the festivities. *Note: they also offer henna hair coloring. The price is right $5 for brows (+tip). They have new promotion where if you purchase one of their facials you can get brows threaded for free...Sounds like a deal to me if you need/want facial services anyway. Only makes sense to give attention to all on face at that point. If you are bold or in need of other areas like lip, chin, sideburns they easily do that too. I had this place booked marked for a while but yet adventure out to other threading places and still wasn't quit satisfied. The other day driving with my husband we passed it and I thought to myself it time to come in, I was in definite need of my eyebrows being done . When I walked in 2 other people was ahead of me. Wait wasn't too bad. Ummmm atmosphere wasn't that pleasant but it was clean so I can't complain too much. I didn't get the Ladies name but when it was my turn. I explained to her what I wanted. 5 mins later I was actually satisfied with my eyebrows. They may not seem perfect to anyone else but to me she did a perfect job because I had an issue with my eyebrows before from going to a random so I had to let my eyebrows grow back and it had no shape or form. Horrible service provided, employee name veer. She completely took off a small Portion of skin from my inner groin while giving me a wax. Her face looked like she was having a hard time. I was completely dissatisfied. Turned out when asking for her license from another employee they were not able to provide. She was unlicensed and working there. I've been going here for years and when Maya was around still, she was the best. The new guys do a good job with eyebrow threading. However, beware if you're paying with card. I got charged an extra $10 from who knows where. (I KNOW I didnt tip $10...) When I asked last time if there was a receipt to sign, the lady said "No." So go figure. She probably did something shady to charge me extra. You may be thinking, "Big deal. It's just $10." But the principle still stands. Don't scam people. It just ain't right. I always come to Mayas for all my beauty needs. Veer is amazing at providing the services whether its threading or waxing. I've been going there for over 2 years and never had any problems. Veer has fixed my brows like no one else could! Before I started coming here my regular lady had made my brows so thin that they basically weren't even there. Futhermore, before I used to cry into tears, but when Veer does my threading or waxing I feel nothing! Again, she's amazing. I highly recommend Veer if she's available! BEWARE!! NOT AN EYELASH SALON!! Maybe they know how to thread eyebrows but they know NOTHING about lashes. I've had my lashes done at professional salons with beautiful results. When I needed a fill-in I thought I would try this place because it was local. Big mistake. The woman who glued my lashes clearly had no experience nor the proper supplies. She permanently glued flared lashes on my own and the amount of glue she used was absurd. When it dried, there was so much extra glue that it scratched my eyeballs every time I blinked. The lashes looked so fake and were extremely painful, even when my eyes were closed. It took 2 hours and cost me $150 to get them removed at a legitimate eyelash salon and, to make matters worse, the majority of my natural eyelash were lost during removal due to the glue that was used. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED When I booked this establishment I thought it was too good to be true! A quality wax for a price that is perfect, sold. I had received plenty of waxes before, so this seemed like a great deal. I walked in and immediately a red flag went off. I used the bathroom and was horrified to see how it was maintained. Dingy, unfinished, cramped and dirty. The last thing you want to see from an establishment tasked with cleaning up your most private parts. When I went into the waxing room, I was told to immediately strip. Feeling exposed and without privacy, I inquired about a covering while she did my wax. Ignoring my request she began. It was beyond unprofessional. She was quick with her strips and sloppy. Forcing her to go back and go over everything. It was so bad I asked her to stop. When she did, she just wiped the wax and squirted a mist. No cleanser. No moisturizer. Nothing to calm the burn. NOT WORTH IT! From my experience, it was a hostile environment. Soni would get fiesty with me for no reason. I stayed for about a year despite sometimes going home bleeding, but finally had enough when she changed her pricing on me. I liked the younger lady in there, but I haven't seen her since before the pandemic. I switched to the place on Dogwood and it's a lot cleaner and friendlier. read more

I booked an appointment at Maya's Eyebrow & Threading the day before the appointment for Henna design, eyebrow and upper lip threading. I do Henna on my hand every year for my birthday and usually do it at Unique Threading in the city. However, this year I decided to do it in Long Island since I am around the area anyway. After I got my eyebrow and upper lip done, I was talking to one of the ladies that work at the salon (Priya) about Henna design for my hand, a white girl just walk in to the salon to get her eyebrows done. She did not make any appointment. When another lady who works there and told her that she is available to do this girl's brows, this girl said that she will wait for Priya. Priya proceeded to tell her that she has to wait until she is done doing my Henna design. This white girl said that she will wait. However, not long after that, she changed her mind and demanded that she will be treated first since she will be quick. At that point I am already pissed since I have other experiences about white girls always get the special treatment. I told her that I made an appointment and been waiting here for quiet sometime unlike her who just walked in but she insisted that she will be treated before me - and she did. At this point, I just proceeded to pay the eyebrow and upper lip ($8) and gave ($10) for tip for the Henna solutions that Priya already prepared - and I left the salon because I do not want to create any drama. It is true when they say that white girls can get away with almost anything in America. Too often when people of color are wronged by white people, many have assumed that "the victim" are just too sensitive, always reading bad intentions into harmless situations. It is just saddens me that this experience happened before my birthday. I still give this salon a good rating because my experience with this white girl have nothing to do with the service that the salon gives. read more

My fiance and I usually go to Sonny (sorry if I spelled your name wrong!) She really knows what she's doing and we are very particular with our eyebrows. She is super friendly and listens to what you want when you explain how you want things done. I also go my eyelashes done here and it was AMAZING! I got so many compliments and they lasted for 2 weeks, had I taken care of them I'm sure they would've lasted longer. Threading is affordable and there is street parking. Soni did not do what I asked for. I like my eyebrows done a specific way. I had been growing them out to get them the way I wanted for months. Before we began, I asked soni not remove any hair from the front of my eyebrow. I told her to square it out by cutting it, and not to remove any hair. I also told her i just want a clean up and not to make my eyebrows skinny. She did the exact opposite. She removed hair from the front of my brows and now they look too far apart.She also made them a lot skinnier and one is slightly skinnier than the other. I felt like my wishes were not respected and she did what she felt like. When I told her it looked skinny she said " all I did was a clean up". This experience was very disappointing and I would not recommended this place. In the photo below you can see the chunk of hair she removed from my left eyebrow. It's not even. I didn't even want her to fix it because I felt like she would make it worse. I've had bad experiences in the past before in other salons.. which is why I asked her not to do those things.. I don't get why it's so hard to follow simple instructions. read more

I dont regularly get waxed "down there" but I do know that I'm not supposed to be left bleeding afterwards like I had minor surgery. Smh! This was the worst waxing experience I probably would ever receive. It was painful, messy and unprofessional. Stopped by Maya's to get my eyebrows done while in town for the holidays. I called before arriving since it said "appts only" on yelp, but I was quickly welcomed in and accommodated. I had let my eyebrows grow a bit to get a better shape / arch, so I was glad to get them threaded. The pain was marginal, but tolerable -- although I don't remember threading hurting this much the last time I had them. The woman threading my eyebrows was nice enough -- she even commented on how good she thought they looked afterwards! For $6, I'm not complaining. Will be back when in town. read more
