And Grand Home Furniture in Roanoke, Virginia, is a perfect example. Located off Valley View Blvd almost across the street from Longhorn Steakhouse, this furniture store is one of the largest that I have ever seen. Many people are intimidated by the humongous size of this furniture store and its magestic entrance, and have never dared to enter the place. But because of its size, it also has a large selection of furniture of all prices and a large sales force that have been trained in Sales and are waiting patiently near the entrance to go after the first customer that comes in through the entrance. This can be a little intimidating to some people. Arriving around mid-afternoon, there were plenty of salespersons waiting at the door. The first one to reach me was one named Royce. He was very friendly and greeted me with a smile. I told him that I had heard about their La-Z-Boy 50% Off Sale and was looking for a nice leather recliner to watch TV comfortably at home. The Salesman was very knowledgeable about La-Z-Boy recliners because he was transferred from their Tanglewood Store a couple of weeks ago and yet he knew where to go to show me La-Z-Boy's best leather recliner. He asked me to try it out and showed me how the remote control worked. He then went about showing me a couple of other recliners to compare with the first one. Definitely, the first one was the most comfortable of them all. I asked him for the measurements of the recliner so I could see if it would fit in my space. He showed me the slip that had this information andvI took a photo of it. Then I asked him to write down the total cost for me with the 50% discount, taxes, and delivery fee of $150. Either he was not listening well to my request or didn't feel comfortable with numbers, because he brought back his card with one total price on it. Before I left he gave me another of his business cards and asked me to go back to him if I decided to purchase this item. I told him I much appreciated his time and that I would. As a former Professor of Salesman, it was interesting the different techniques that he used to get me to purchase this item today, but the most important of all, to listen, he neglected. But that's alright, without the benefit of a college education. He did his best, and if I decide to purchase the recliner, I go to him for his effort. I definitely recommend this furniture store for its variety of furniture of all price categories and quality, the beautiful display rooms, and the excellent customer service details that they have with their customers, like offering them something to drink, giving them a period where they can return the item if they don't like it for a refund, and a 5 year period of repairing anything wrong with the product.

I went to Virginia Furniture Market's main store to purchase a lift chair for a family member…read more Jannie, the sales person, was very helpful and the price was cheaper than any others I had looked at. The actual purchase experience was good. I would give Jannie and my purchase experience a 4 star rating. Where I must reduce my experience rating is with the delivery! My loved one lives in an assisted living facility and that was made known to Jannie and the cashier at purchase. I received a text the day before delivery that the chair would be delivered to the assisted living facility between 3:30 and 5:30. The next day, I received a text at 1:00 saying the delivery would take place between 3:15 and 5:15 on that day. With no further communication with me, the delivery was made around 1:10 pm. This 2 hour early delivery caused a great commotion with my loved one who was confused because the delivery time was 3:30-5:30 as far as she knew, and disruption of the facility staff. The chair ended up being left in the hallway to be put into the room later (by maintenance staff at the facility). When I called to speak with someone at VFM about this, they could not tell me why the delivery was made so early and why there was no further communication with me prior to delivery. All they could say was that their delivery drivers were knocking out time on that day and deliveries were running early.

My mother-in-law took her Stihl blower in to have the primer bulb replaced. That was all it needed. That was all she wanted done. What they did to her blower was criminal. Not only did they not replace the primer bulb as she had ask, they broke the throttle lever off the carburetor when they dis-assembled it. Why they dis-assembled her blower to replace an easily accessible primer bulb is beyond any conceivable explanation or understanding. When she went in to pick up her blower after being told it was ready, she was handed a bag of parts, and a bill for fifty some dollars. They had the nerve to tell her (after they broke the carburetor) it needed a new carburetor, and it was going to cost as much to repair the blower as it would be to purchase a new one. Then they charged her fifty some dollars for their "fine" service. All it needed was a primer bulb! You can see in the attached photo the condition in which they returned her blower. If legible, the broken throttle lever pieces are circled in the photo. Unbelievable!!! Had this happened to me, these people would be in court making reparations for the damage they caused. This is truly criminal taking advantage of a person in this manner. If I heard one day someone burned them out, I just might have to smile.
