They do have a good sized field house here, with programming for a variety of age ranges, so it's worth checking out the CPD activities schedule. There's lots of green space, but also baseball fields, tennis courts, and a nice sized playground. The playground, too, serves a nice range of ages. But what I liked most about this park was the greenhouse and outdoor natural play area. There are places for kids to sit for various activities that take place here, an outdoor kitchen, and a large greenhouse. It's called a "teaching greenhouse", and is unique amongst Chicago parks (at least as of 2026). There's a program called garden buddies aimed at toddlers and I wish I lived closer to be able to have my child participate in it! There's also a plant sale each year. If all that weren't enough, an orchard--the first in a major metropolitan city in the US!--was planted in 2008. Apples, pears, and more--including the paw paw, an unusual, native Illinois fruit--grow on these trees. Currants, berries, and more have also been planted here. I'm excited to keep an eye on their events.

I dony recommend this place for children with autism or any other disabilities , they are extremely understaffed and there is not enough help to properly watch your children!!!! My son was thrown out for having autism, he was not given the month everyone else was to fix attendance and refused to work with my child, it's very sad to see a place like this turn into something that doesn't benefit our children.

I went to Albany Park Community Center as a kid, for their after school program and extracurricular activities. I commend the center for being so involved in the Albany Park community, which is the 3rd most ethnically diverse neighborhood in the U.S. My family eventually became friends with one of the volunteers there, and we invited her and her family to our family gatherings over the years. They had International Night, where every family brought their own dish. Just think of it as a really big potluck. I had my first taste of kimbap there and was hooked for life! Overall, it's a wonderful community-based organization that offers programs for everyone - young and old.

Frankly, I've had a house here for a few years and the 30+ year residents on my street are delighted by how the neighborhood is changing. If you pine for the gang/drug-ridden BS, well...you're an idiot. I love my neighborhood. I like that it still IS a neighborhood. I like that some local merchants are tasting some success, and I think it'd be great if some of that blighted shit on Milwaukee got filled with stores of any stripe...chain or otherwise. I know..."waah chain stores". Y'know what's worse than chain stores? Empty store fronts and vacant buildings. This is where I am raising my family, where I put my stake in the ground because I believe in the area.. If all you want is a dive bar, cheap rent, and taco stand, well we pretty much have nothing to talk about since you're probably going to flee the hood at some point anyway. If you are one of those whose ideal Logan Square consists of empty community centers, free health clinics, squatters, and dollar stores, welp i am actively working to makes sure your dream does not come to pass. Get involved with the community, get to know your neighbors, start building a life here and then we'll talk. Otherwise shut your mouth.

A great neighborhood to commute from - 10 minutes to 290 (via sacramento), 7 minutes to 90 (via california) and 20-30 minutes via el. Neighbors are pretty friendly, lots of opportunities for dog parties if you have your own precious pooch. Reports of gentrification are both exaggerated and expected. Yeah, so rents are going up...well guess what, rents all over Chicago have gone up, so it isn't just your landlord trying to get your sorry art student ass out. And as far as I can tell, the gangs are still here (hell, the Latin Kings and their arch enemies Orchestra Albany marked up my alley pretty well last week)! And if that ain't a sign that gentrification has not completely arrived, I don't know what is. If gentrification means that art students and their parties that go until 5 am move to another neighborhood, I'm all for it. Because as far as I can tell, kids from Columbia College haven't done a thing to make Logan a better place. Also, for those of you freaking out about changes in the neighborhood: patterns of migration. This neighborhood, and neighborhoods all over Chicago, have ebbed and flowed with different immigrant and/or ethnic groups over time. You may not like it, but it is life. Not just here, but all over the US.

There are also probably three or four businesses operating within. I was here for HotShots kids program where the kids play multiple sports in one day. The staff have all been very friendly and helpful. There is also a parents lounge (Glass) area to do work if needed with coffee and wifi. The entrance is on the back side of this enormous building, which is a little confusing but once you figure it out, there is plenty of parking. This was an epic find for us for the hot summer.

During Covid it was a lifesaver offering open hours. It is a repository of information and knowledge that elevates us all. I appreciate their collection and how they highlight new and recommended by staff books. The staff does an amazing job to keep this a meditative space for learning on a busy street corner for all ages and nationalities. During book bans and other human rights struggles, the library helps us thrive and keep hopeful. My daughter volunteered here and I've lived in area for 20 years. One of the reasons picked home here is the library!
