But OMG some of the front desk ppl need to knocked down a notch or 7 with their attitudes. My daughter needed an appointment but the person on the phone said the her ped wasn't taking anyone for the rest of the day and didn't know when she would be open again. She recommended we go to PH UC so we did. I did file a complaint already with financial services (so that is done) and the pediatrician called me back to find out what happened and has already put in notes about the experience so it hopefully doesn't happen again. The snobby lady at the front desk with short blonde/white hair (old woman on first floor) got up from her desk when I was trying to check my daughter (after she cut me off several times) in to UC. The other lady (younger, long hair and nice) was checking me in after the crabtree left the desk. Then the old bag brought back someone from administration that repeated herself like a broken record with every question I asked. She was completely coached and wasn't even answering my question. They must be worried I will sue them, I would sure like to. I did video all of it. It was so disgusting how my daughter was treated and spoken to by the appointment coordinator. Anyway, we ended up going out to the car and skipping UC. For kicks, I tried calling pediatrics again and got AN APPOINTMENT literally minutes later since I was in the parking lot. We walked right up there and got checked in no problem. That lady on the first floor made a mountain out of a mole hill. Just do your damn job; pandemic crap is hard enough as it is. Stop the power trip already lady. If I find out her name I will be posting it here later.

Dr. Michael Hartman was the emergency room physician that was assigned to care for my father when…read morehe was brought in via ambulance in December. My father is 83 years old and has a myriad of medical issues ranging from cancer to congestive heart failure. He had a fall and was crying out from low back pain. When it hadn't improved a few days later, my mom wanted to bring him to urgent care, but he was in so much pain that she could not transfer him to his wheelchair to get him in the car so that's when the ambulance was called. Several hours had passed and I wanted to find out what was going on with my dad and was put on the phone with Dr. Hartman. Dr. Hartman was immediately hung up on the fact that my dad has dementia. We know that he has dementia, but it is quite mild. He still watches the news and knows who we are and can play sudoku and cribbage with the best of them. Dr. Hartman informed me that he did not see any indicators on the images as to why he was experiencing pain so he said to me "it's all in his head, he has dementia". To which I replied, "I do not believe that he is making this up. I know my dad and he is cognizant enough to know what is going on and even if he does have dementia that doesn't mean that he can't experience pain at the same time" I then said to Dr. Hartman that "it seems very inhumane to not treat an elderly man's pain just because they have dementia". Dr. Hartman then said to me and I quote. "That's really obnoxious of you". So he basically called me, obnoxious for trying to be an advocate for my elderly father. He then said "there's nothing wrong with him". "He's going to be discharged so someone needs to come and pick him up." My mom and I arrived shortly after that conversation it was in the evening and Dr. Hartman had left for the night. Another doctor had taken over his name was Dr. Fazzari and he was professional, kind and wanted to help. We spoke with him, and I reiterated the fact that I did not believe that this pain was psychosomatic and that there had to be something more causing his pain so Dr. Fazzari, wanting to be thorough and reach an actual diagnosis, ordered CT scans of his spine and head to make sure that there wasn't a brain bleed. Guess what, a few CT scans later and my dad has TWO fractured vertebrae. We found out that Dr. Hartman for some strange reason ordered x-rays of my father's hips and not even of his spine when he was brought via ambulance for lumbar area back pain. So not only is Dr. Hartman rude and callous he is inept and took imaging of the wrong body parts. But I don't think it really mattered because he was so hung up on the fact that my dad had dementia that he could've had a sword plunging through his body and he still would've wrote him off as making the pain up. Another issue that I have is this whole time before and after they had confirmation of fractured vertebrae, they only treated my father's pain with Tylenol. An 83-year-old man with everything under the sun wrong with him, including liver and kidney failure, and he received zero narcotic pain medication. They would rather risk messing with his liver by filling him full of acetaminophen than giving him an opiate that is FDA approved to treat pain because Mayo is an opioid stewardship hospital. This means they are going to do everything in their power to NOT administer an opioid for chronic or serious, acute pain in the emergency room. Opioid stewardship hospitals, receive funding and grants for providing subpar alternative options. This will affect you or a loved one at some point in your life. Dr. Hartman engaged in an egregious violation of medical ethics, (do no harm?) and I'm appalled that he would treat a patient, an elderly man, with such carelessness

I have been going to Mayo Clinic for most of my life, and as far as the general hospital goes, the…read morecare has been more than adequate. Since 2020 however, I have seen a rapid decline in care at the emergency department. Since starting college, I've had to make trips to the ER on roughly 5 situations, mostly heart related, and most recently for a concussion. The last 3 times I've gone in have had terribly similar end results; showing up with emergent symptoms, waiting upwards of half an hour to be triaged, and a minimum of 2 hours before seeing a doctor. Today, I was waiting for 3 hours to be seen, brought back and was set in the hallway, and sat there an hour before Dr. Aaron Triplett came to tell me that they would not be running any tests, didn't even check me out to see what had happened that caused the concussion. This is following a previous visit to urgent care in which I was initially diagnosed with the concussion, and was told if symptoms continued to get worse to go to the ER immediately for a CT and MRI. After a few days, symptoms continued getting worse, my vision fading from blurry to shaky, pain level increasing exponentially throughout each day, and having more symptoms pop up before going to the ER today. After 3 hours of waiting, I was more than just let down that the people who's job it is to take care in being thorough, will be willing to cut corners and outright deny looking into why my walking has now gotten to be borderline scary, feeling like I'm going to fall every step. But they'd rather have one less patient to deal with, so they sent me home with nothing more than a lighter wallet. Would not recommend the Emergency Department at Mayo Clinic Eau Claire

The actual nurse-practitioners/doctors and…read moretechnicians (i.e. xray) as well as the front desk staff have all been great, helpful with my problems, and understanding of my issues when interacting with me. However, there is one nurse here who is just horrific at her job, even arguing with me out of nowhere (and being COMPLETELY wrong about something VERY IMPORTANT for her to be right about, which I have verified thoroughly she was wrong about) and she is always super disrespectful. I have considered filing legitimate complaints through the hospital but I have been lucky enough to stop getting her every single time I come in (though I did like 3 times in a row). When you're already at a hospital you clearly aren't feeling good or are even physically injured, and then you get some woman who wants to be rude, disrespectful, offensive, and basically insult you for no reason and that makes it pretty awful. Again, to be clear, NURSE, not the actual person "seeing" you there, the one preparing you to be seen and giving you your documents before you leave. Everyone else is great. Having a built-in pharmacy is also a really nice bonus, always quick too. I'd give it more stars, but this woman has made me avoid going when I really needed to multiple times.
