My dryer broke a week ago and whole laundry started to pile up while waiting for a part, I found Maytag Laundromat on 18th and Washington. I dropped off two very large bags of laundry at 8:30 am and they had it all cleaned, folded and ready to go by the end of the day. Professional, clean, reasonable and professional. This was my first time at this laundromat and it was a positive experience. The lady that worked there was nice and responded quickly to customers who needed detergent, coins, etc. The place was clean, had an ATM and plenty of washers and dryers. So, the first thing that I must say is that I have been a customer for about 13 years. With and without a washing machine. I have been coming her since the Aunt first opened it. it has always been clean!!!Plus the owners, both of them, have ALWAYS been kind, I recommend this place to everyone. I was asked why don't I go where the free dry is at. I said because they don't know me and my clothes are safe there. Wash and Fold and Separate? Not even my mom washes clothes this well! Recently I have just been crazy busy. A friend has always been on me to just send out my laundry, but I'm a control freak. Well you can have your cake and eat it to if you are crazy like me. You can bring your own detergent and fabric softener. Which is a huge plus for me because I'm a tide free kinda gal. Then they magically will have your laundry done within a day. I was a day late, but there was my ikea bag safely babysat an extra day. With my washing products nestled safely in the bag. Sheets were in one pile, towels with towels, it was so beautifully folded and organized I sort of wept a little...or maybe that was me shvitzing? ( the place is a bit warm...dryers ya know) I dig this place. It would be even better if they picked up and delivered, but the turn around is so quick I really cannot complain. read more

This laundromat is conveniently located by my house. The place is always clean and the owners are very nice. The washers always have hot water and the dryers are always hot. There is also a drop off service that I've used before. The clothes folded neatly and smelled great for days. Could not recommend this place enough! read more

The staff was helpful and friendly - the patrons decidedly not so. I couldn't tell if the place was really clean because the lighting was so dim I couldn't see properly. There are very few chairs so sitting down is a problem. There was a giant flat screen TV that was really loud and I am going deaf in one ear. I read other reviews that the drop off service is way cool but I decided not to chance it because I use environmentally friendly products and it was apparent that that was not happening. Honestly, the place gave me the creeps, I'm sorry to say. I only went there because the laundry in the apartment complex where I live is unsafe - but that's a whole 'nother story. So, you may want to just drop off and run from the Maytag Laundromat. If you do decide to actually wash your clothes a triple washer is $3.25 and you should bring your own quarters or cash for quarters supplied by the staff. I didn't bother to dry my sheets. i just took them home wet. I couldn't stand it in there for one more minute. read more

With a trunk full of soiled linens from the recent Yelper Party, I searched Yelp to find a place to get them cleaned. Maytag came up with great reviews and weekend hours. Plus, it's in my neighborhood, so extremely convenient. I swung by on Saturday with two huge trash bags filled with linens, and the woman who worked there weighed them and gave me a receipt, saying I could pick them up later. Same day service! I ended up getting them the next day, but for more than forty pounds of linens, my charge was less than $35. Crazy! After the sheets were folded up, they all fit neatly into just one of the bags. After I graduated college, I never thought I'd have to schlep clothes to and from a laundromat again... until I moved into the city. 1 Bedroom flat on Christian Street without a washer/dryer? No big, I'm pretty resourceful, I'll just hand wash my clothes in my bathtub, hang them, and wait 2 WEEKS FOR THEM TO DRY. I literally used a blow dryer on my work clothes 5 days later, and the jeans still don't bend the same. Needless to say, I bagged the brilliant hand washing idea, and have been going to Maytag for almost a year now. If you're dropping off, prepare to drop some dough as well. It's honestly pretty reasonable, but when a roll of quarters is your only end of the month allowance, desperate times call for desperate measures.. so most of the time I opt for the DIY route. They have single, double, and triple load washers which is pretty cool, because who doesn't like options?! This is America, after all. And the washers actually dry the clothes (which is more than I can say about that of my college days). Oh, bring your headphones. Daytime TV pollutes the space. I'm a big fan of Maytag Laundromat's wash and fold service. I've made a habit of using their services because a) I'm busy, b) I'm lazy, or c) I think I'm busy, but I'm in fact lazy. Regardless, it works out well for me. I do next day pickup, and haven't had any problems so far. I can't attest to the quality/speed of their washers/dryers as I haven't physically done laundry here. Penny Pinching TIps: This place is cash only, but does have one of those sketchy grey ATMs with a $3 surcharge...so bring some cash. Also, they charge by the pound so have a light laundry bag instead of a basket. Finally, if you really want to save some money on laundry, DO IT YOURSELF! read more

Thank you, Yelp Friends! Yet again you have come through. I tried this service for the first time last weekend. I dropped off a 12 pound load of dirty clothes and was pleasantly impressed when I came to pick up the clothes the following day. All were neatly folded and smelled absolutely delectable. Price is very reasonable at 69 cents per pound. I may have to make a weekly sojourn here, it was so good! A couple of things to note: good parking in front of the laundromat or on a side street. This laundromat is great! Like most Philadelphians without a washer or dryer, I never look forward to spending hours in a laundromat. But, Maytag is great! Cheap and great service. Maytag is also located around a few other businesses to hang out while you do your laundry - sardine bar, cafe ynez, sidecar. I find it more timesaving however to get your laundry done for you. I always have a lot and the owners are always super friendly and help me with my super heavy basket. They even take off a pound or two to compensate for the basket weight. For only $0.79 a lb, it's only about 10 more dollars if I were to spend hours in the laundromat doing it myself. Bonus: I've never had my clothes folded as nicely as Maytag does read more

Last week was the week of the Yelp Fail (cf. my review of Avila Shoe Repair). For the bargain price of $14.22 ($0.79/lb), Maytag washed two sets of sheets and a load of darks. The pile was so small when I came to pick it up that evening that I jokingly asked the manager/owner (Jimmy) if it was all really there. He replied that the laundress just folds it really tightly. I took it home, and when I went to put it away I noticed that, even though it was folded neatly, the clothes were wrinkled like they'd been left in a crumpled pile for a while and then folded. Not a huge deal, I just HATE ironing, so I always make sure to fold my clothes promptly when the dryer stops. And then I realized that all of my clothes were not, in fact, in my basket. I am missing (1) a brand new pair of black leggings ($20) (2) an old pair of distressed dark wash jeans ($40?) and (3) my favorite (red, off-the-shoulder) sweatshirt ($40+). So, for the bargain price of $14.22, Maytag lost about $100 worth of my clothes. I called and spoke to Jimmy, and he took the list and description of my missing articles of clothing and said that he'd look into it and call me back by noon the next day. This was 5 days ago, and I expect that I won't hear from him because my clothes are just gone. Washed and folded into someone else's laundry basket, picked up, and taken away without a trace. I feel like I shouldn't have to make an itemized list of my laundry before dropping it off, and I shouldn't have to go through it piece by piece before I leave to make sure that I actually get it all back. I'm really disappointed. Pissed. The heavy scent of fabric softener makes me want to punch an orphan. If, by chance, you magically received some new clothes that match the above descriptions with your wash and fold from Maytag, please let me know. I would really like my clothes back, especially the sweatshirt. read more

This place is good for dropoff services if you give them clothes, which is currently 79 cents per pound. Blankets however, are $15 a pop, regardless of weight. Granted they do a good job and can even give it to you same day, but still. read more

Been going to this place since I moved in July and decided it was finally time to give these guys the accolades they deserve. I may be a bit biased because I literally live around the corner and down a block, and this is the first time I've ever utilized drop-off wash-and-fold service, but even if I lived a bit further away, I'd most likely come here specifically. The price is great at 79 cents a pound, and the level of service is fantastic. I've never had an issue with the job they do and it's always fantastic. But really what keeps me loyal to these guys is that it's a true family-run business and they couldn't be nicer and more respectful. If you bring your stuff in early, they can turn it around by the end of the day and they always have a smile on their face. Not sure about their self-service machines and what not -- as I said, I hate doing laundry -- but whenever I come in to pick stuff up on the weekends, it's usually moderately busy, so I assume the machines are top notch. You really can't beat this place. Don't be turned off by the unassuming exterior. Every once in awhile when I'm having a busy week and just don't have the time to do laundry at home, I'll drop off a laundry basket here. So they'll seperate, wash, and fold...with same day service. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. I was running late and had to do some last-minute laundry after work the other night, and even though I arrived after the "last wash" time the attendant cut me a break because I had just enough time to get out of there by close. There are always plenty of washing machines available in three different sizes and the prices are solid. I've only used their wash and fold service once, but it was likewise affordable and prompt. I have been coming to this laundromat for years, even thought I YEARN for my own Washer and Dryer!!! Until then, I will have to use them. Clean establishment, clean machines that work and friendly staff. They have pride in their establishment and keep it clean and tidy. Maytag Laundromat was my knight in shining armor when I was on my last pair of socks and the tap dancing elephant of an upstairs neighbor of mine was hogging our building's washer and dryer all weekend. I dropped off 20 pounds of laundry and by the time I got done work, I picked it up, perfectly folded too. I think that it was only 79 cents a pound too, which was still a lot cheaper than buying new socks that day. Lol. Until Yelp pointed me here, I had no idea that you could pay people to do your laundry for you. My life is much, much better now. Their drop-off wash and fold service is a godsend, cheap ($20-$30 for about 2 weeks worth for me), and quick - I've always been able to pick it up the next day. Anything needing special attention, I wash myself, in the plentiful machines. $2.00, quarters. Also not bad, since most places I go are $2.25 or more. read more

If you're the type that still does your own laundry, then this laundromat is a fine option. I went on a Sunday afternoon and was happy to find lots of front loading, double load, washers available. Everything I need except better TV and the ability to pay with a credit card. The fees are low enough that I don't mind paying the $1.50 at fee when I have no cash. Okay, I want to emphasize the HOURS. THEY ARE ONLY OPEN UNTIL 8PM. I know it says it above, but it should be shouted from the rooftops, especially when the head index is 102. They automatically lose stars for closing obscenely early. Also the laundry is now $.79/lb, not $.69/lb, these days. Laundry is laundry, so I'm assuming it will be folded when I pick it up and will smell clean. So, kudos for that. only in the last year have i had to re learn what not having a washer machine is like, at first i was doing my laundry and wasting time in the laundromat in addition to putting it off because i didn't want to be stuck there- but then due to a lack of time i ended up trying out this place for drop off because i knew a lot of my friends used it back when i lived in point breeze, so so so worth it, every week i drop it off it costs 10-12 bucks and it comes back smelling so good and perfectly folded. the owners are really cool too, also i can always find a parking spot so pick up and drop off takes a minute and i can move on read more

I have now taken my laundry to this place twice. Both times I got there well beyond a reasonable time for expecting to have it done the same day. Both times, without even a hint of whining or obsequiousness from me, they said I could pick it up later that day. Both times, the laundry was nice and clean and smelled fresh as the Tide laundry detergent and Downy Fabric Softener can make them smell. Nice that they use good products. The first time I went I felt a little wee bit disappointed that they folded clothes like my ex-husband: no system: no two towels or t-shirts folded alike. The second time, everything was uniformly folded. Who knows? Maybe she asked her teenaged son to help out; or maybe it was a group folding exercise. My wife normally does my laundry because she has free time to do it but she was traveling the past few weeks. I have working machines and could do my own but ive been working long hours and things have been stressful and I decided to try the laundromat. I've never used one before but when I happened to walk by it I stopped in the and woman I spoke with was so friendly and she told me how it would work. I bring in plastic bags and they will sort, wash and fold... she showed me the price list (hanging on the wall) and when I weighed two bags of laundry (on my home scale) I was pretty psyched at how cheap this service was. I returned to pick up the next day (they do offer same day service if you come before 9am) and she remembered me which instantly made me feel good and when I received my immaculately folded laundry I was shocked at how perfect it looked. I recently had to drop off my down blanket to be washed after my kid spilled his milk all over it. They did a wonderful job. It was done in the same day and when I took out the blanket it was still fluffy and smelled so refreshingly clean. Thanks for a wonderful job Maytag! read more
