Boston airport from the MBTA Commuter Boat

If you're not actually commuting and thinking about using the ferry to get out on the water, there's nothing wrong with that at all. You'll want to check the calendar for the time of the sunset because it's absolutely lovely with the city skyline in the foreground and the sun in the background. Do it! We queued up behind a bunch of folks on the "North" Long Wharf space (there are two) and after the initial passengers disembarked, we boarded smoothly and there were plenty of seats. Both ships we rode were clean and comfortable with a free wifi signal. There is a small refreshments station that sells chips and sodas and some alcohol. How about that! Great view of the skyline, the harbor, the airport and the Harbor Islands. It was a high speed trip that was mostly smooth and definitely efficient. Tip: The MBTA has an app. You can buy your tickets on the app and not have to deal with money or tickets on board. Way easy!

Loved taking the ferry just for the ride! Great price for a beautiful trip across the bay!!! I highly recommend it as a fun trip when you are landlocked with work commitments. Take a short ferry ride to unwind from your busy trolley, subway, buses, walking, and staircase terminal commutes, I did! Hey, the views of the skyline are worth it!

Also, this was a relatively cheap trip to get out on the water of the Boston Harbor.

Logan Airport Ferry Terminal - Beautiful view of the city from the ferry terminal

    Logan Airport Ferry Terminal

I finally got a chance to take the ferry from Logan airport to the city. To get from the airport…read moreterminals to the ferry, take the 66 route Massport bus. The ferry terminal itself is served by the Hingham-Hull ferry route along with water taxis. There is an enclosed waiting area that looked new, modern, and clean, with a lot of seating. Not sure if there are any ammenties, I didn't have a chance to go inside as the ferry was arriving and I had to head down the ramp. You buy your ticket on the ferry. I paid $9.75 for the trip from the airport to Boston. The view of the city was fantastic and got a bonus view of the old Natucket Lightship on the way. The trip itself took about 10 - 15 minutes to get to Long Wharf (near the Aquarium and Long Wharf Marriott). From there its about a 10 - 15 minute walk along the Greenway to South Station. The Aquarium Blue Line subway stop is located near Long Wharf also. You can also take the ferry in the other direction to Hingham & Hull. I'm not sure about pricing going that way. I'm giving the ferry 4 stars as it doesn't run as frequently as other public transit options from the airport. At this time of year (November 24) the ferry only stops at the airport inbound to Boston at 10:50AM, 12:45PM, 1:45PM, 4:20PM, and 8:10PM. Going outbound to Hingham/Hull, the times are 6:40AM, 7:40AM, 9:25AM, 11:15AM, 7:55PM, 9:30PM, and 10:05PM. So these are fairly specific times. It would be much better if there there were more frequent stops at least between the city and the airport. The water taxis may run more often or may be pay and go, however I'm not sure of how they work.
