If you don't believe the bad reviews on this posting, you should. Most everything I've read is true. Had a home built, kept it for a year, resold it and took a great loss, how badly we wanted out! Look at all the homes on the market in Annafeld, notice how long they stay listed and constantly lowering their prices. Greg McCall did acknowledge my problems and I appreciated that but there was considerable buck passing between the landscaper, HOA, and McCalls. I don't like giving bad reviews, and maybe after the development has matured in a few years, things will get resolved out there. DO NOT do business with this company! They do not believe in service after the sale. We had a home built in the Annafeld subdivision. We have a couple of warranty issues that have never been addressed or resolved. Messages have been left on their answering machine with no calls back. There is a leak in one of the living room windows that is causing more and more damage each time it rains. Also, our yard has a large low spot that collects and holds water each time it rains and the lawn is watered. The sod pieces have actually started to separate in one place due to the sod slipping down into the low spot. Our neighbor has a gas meter that has sank and sits cock-eyed because the backfill for their basement was done incorrectly and has now settled also. They have plenty of time to put up new houses, but they obviously don't have the time or desire to fix their mistakes. Had we known that we would have these issues, we would have never ever gone with this company. read more

We're in our second home in Josephine Crossing. We finished building our second home about a year ago, and recently had our second warranty walk-through. Our first home was completely fine, but since it was a cottage we grew out of it quickly. The quality of the build never appeared to be an issue. About 3 years in we did have some issues with HVAC and concrete around the house. These were both covered under warranty; in the case of the HVAC it was fixed in a few days free of cost. The concrete took a little longer since it was more involved, but McCall communicated well regarding the fix. Building our second home was largely an excellent process: in the initial meetings we felt that our concerns were heard, and we were able to put together a plan that felt great to us; the team helped us make confident decisions in materials and colors. The build process went smoothly as well; only hampered by some heavy rains that we had in fall that year. Again, McCall was very good about communicating delays with us, and we felt that they were justified. The quality of working being performed always seemed quite good; above par with what you'd see in a home of this price range. After completion they have been extremely good about following up with us and making sure that warranty items are being addressed. Again, the team is friendly, and since they're neighbors there's an understanding that they stand behind their work. I do know that they're drastically improved their follow up process in the past couple of years, and at this point we couldn't be more pleased. I'd happily recommend McCall to anyone looking for a home in the JC area. The team and their dedication to improvement are a huge selling point for me. read more

Still waiting on warranty repairs to be completed though they started in June and mentioned in January. They have zero communication skills and do not take responsibility for delays. I'm stunned contractors are willing to work with a group so willing to throw them under the bus. I gave them a 2 because they created an incredible community that we love being a part of.. just wish my home looked less Section 8. read more

This business is very image-conscious, quick to censor posts that they disagree with. Hence, a suspicious lack of low-rated reviews exist. I know several people who have posted concerns to their Facebook page, only to have their posts promptly deleted. With that being said, our experience is that the McCall's will tell you what you want to hear, even if that means making false promises. When promises are not fulfilled, the McCalls are quick to back-track and make excuses, rather than taking responsibility. I could give endless examples! Josephine Crossing is not the neighborhood for you if you like having any space at all. The houses are crammed together in a way that you can *almost* reach out your window and touch your neighbor's house. It feels more like living in a condo than a single-family home. And let's face it, it's weird that the neighboring windows look directly into your yard. I understand that the neighborhood is going for a "community feel" but for those of us who chose not to drink the Kool-Aid, it's a far cry from freedom. As of lately, there are stacks and rows of condos being built in the neighborhood, which further congests a neighborhood that is already overcrowded. The motive for fitting more people into smaller amounts of space appears to be money and greed-driven. I wish that I could give the McCalls zero stars because I feel that one is even too many. read more

McCall's make a lot of promises, but once the money has been paid their service and excellence drops off considerably. They provide preferential treatment in scheduling construction, completion and warranty service for friends and family, while leaving others out in the cold. I would not purchase a home again from McCall's - the hassles and aggravation have not been worth the considerable purchase price. They do not live up to the hype - at least not in my experience, and others who are not connected in someway to the family. Overall - frustrating, a lot of wasted time, and after an almost two year process - I'm still living in a home with thousands of dollars of unfinished projects that were included in the purchase price. McCalls got their money - and since closing, they have been scarce - lots of excuses, missed deadlines, and other aggravations, but the bottom-line is that they have not honored their contract. Save yourself the aggravation go with a developer who is less concerned with expanding and selling homes, and more concerned with providing a quality home for a fair price. read more

The staff at McCalls will say anything to sell a home. They've ruthlessly over-developed the area at Josephine Crossing, degrading the natural habitat and turning a beautiful location into an overpopulated mess. Homes are quickly built using prefabbed construction - comparable to modular homes. After having our home repaired from a 2015 hail storm, LOTS of problems were revealed with construction not meeting city code. McCalls blatantly lie in order to sell homes. They sold lots based on features that they pushed relentlessly, such as a beautiful town center with an ice-skating rink and commercial space - but as soon as the last lot was sold, the original plans for the development were scrapped and all the amenities were disposed off, as they replaced the town center with 38 single-unit condos packed in so tightly that it resembles housing projects seen in large urban ghettos. Streets are too narrow to be safe and warranty issues are a nightmare to get resolved. It takes dozens of calls and emails to get warranty service, which often is substandard. This is a high crime area - cars are frequently stolen, vandalism is rampant, and petty break-ins are common. But McCall's do everything possible to keep these aspects quiet, in favor of promoting a false image of a safe, friendly neighborhood, which Josephine Crossing is anything but ... This company is unethical and untrustworthy. Choosing them as our builders was among the worst decisions of my life. read more

Nice location and neighborhood. They offer a nice selection of homes. Just make certain you get what you requested and do frequent inspections. They build their homes very quickly and skip code requirements. Their warranty is very difficult to enforce - they prioritize homeowners based on price of homes and personal relationships. A lot of unhappy residents with problems who end up stuck with repair bills. Not very trustworthy - they will tell you whatever they need to in order to sell a home.
