We dropped off plastic bags here for recycling and also there are those blue textile recycling bins outdoors collecting clothes, linens and old runners that are too old for donations. Like the other Yelper mentioned, the only thing that is inconvenient is the parking. I think max the lot can fit 3 cars or so. Backing up can be difficult due to ongoing traffic on Main Street, so be careful when you're driving!

I also like how their hours with alternatively Early Morning (8:00 am) opening and Late Evening (8:00 pm) closing. Here you can drop off Styrofoam, Tires, Fluorescent Lights/Tubes and other recyclable items that cannot be recycled curbside using the Blue Box. You can also pick up extra Green/Blue Box here or exchange damaged Green/Blue Box here without charges as long as the box has Markham logo on it. I drove northbound on Rodick Road and made a left turn into the depot. I learned later that I had entered this depot correctly and that it's a one-way path. I thought that I needed to park and then bring my stuff over to two guys sitting behind a desk. I was backing up my car and got yelled at by one of them. It was quite the rude awakening. I always find that if signage isn't clear to me, it needs help. Nowhere did it say that driving in was a one-way direction and that formally parking next to other cars that were parked wasn't allowed. It's the main reason why I took a star off. Rather than yelling at a first-time visitor, how about being more cheerful and tone things down? One of them asked what I had. I said a keyboard and mouse. He said to go up to the pink table. I thanked him and said that it was my first time here. I implied to give me a break from yell-fest 2025. I drove up next to the pink table. There was a guy. I asked if I was at the right place with a keyboard and mouse. He said yes. I then asked if I could park off to the side and fetch my stuff. Heaven forbid getting yelled at a second time. He said yes. I brought my stuff over to the table as he dragged a large bin over. He said to set my items on the table. I did. I thanked him and went back to my car. My keyboard and mouse had served me well. The former was ergonomic and corded. The latter was my first Apple mouse. They were both over a decade old. Farewell! I left and continued running errands. This depot is open Thursday through Monday, from 8:30 am till 4:30 pm. It's closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I was here at around 1 pm on a Saturday afternoon. One sign said that photo ID was required because this depot is for York region residents only. I never was asked to present photo ID. I am grateful that this place exists. It's almost 2025, and it is still as easy as 1-2-3, just like what Allison Y. wrote in her review…read moreback in 2017 :) This hazardous waste depot makes it so easy to dispose electronics and household chemicals. They ask you want you are disposing, check your ID, and you just leave everything at the table, and the staff will help you sort it out. The service is usually fast, and they already have a great system in place to make our lives easier during our visit. The depot is opened everyday except for Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

My parents love watching TV. Channel 36 is all that matters, which is Fairchild TV. It's the Cantonese channel that they love. While I was out with friends, my dad got a new TV. It was huge. I'm not sure how he got it out of his vehicle's trunk and into the garage, but he did. I was heading back for Father's Day dinner. He needed help getting the TV into the house. I helped him carry it inside and onto a stand. I also hooked up their Rogers digital box and had to get Rogers to get the volume working on their Rogers channel changer. We had dinner. My dad quietly approached me afterwards and asked where he could dispose of the styrofoam that protected the new TV in its box. I said Milliken Mills Recycling Depot. I was here a while back with styrofoam and the place accepted it. I told my dad that it was behind the McDonald's that I enjoy frequenting on Wednesday mornings before I head to the office. I drew my dad a map, which has always been my thing. He likes that I do that as he's a map person. What's weird about this place? Its hours of operation. It's worse than banking hours! It's open from 9 am till 3 pm Monday through Saturday. There is at least one person on duty who is available to say yea or nay to your items to be recycled. My dad appreciated how resourceful I can be. The following day, he came here to dispose of the styrofoam. He told me a day after his experience that it was great. I'm glad that it's close by. The hours aren't great if you hold a day job. However, I'm happy that it's open on Saturdays. (208)

These items include propane tanks & camping fuel cylinders, batteries, non-empty paint cans and household cleaners, and compact fluorescent light bulbs to name a few. Anything that is flammable, corrosive, explosive and poisonous to humans do not go in the Blue Recycling Bin or Garbage Bin. Please take these items to a Drop-off Depot for proper disposal....and it's FREE! There is a separate disposal area for regular household waste with a fee structure associated with the weight of the goods being disposed of. Proceed to the scale weighing area.

If it doesn't break your back transporting the items then I think it's a simple chore to do to help the landfills. I've been to other metal recycling centers but many of them seem to pull numbers out of thin air which doesn't earn my trust. I found Triune through forums, read great reviews all around so I thought this time I'd give them a try. Location is right off of 401, super convenient. Nothing fancy. It is literally a junkyard. Piles of scrap metal all over the place. Dirt road (lol the guy behind me came in his sparkly clean Porsche, so yeah.. don't do that!) But as messy as the place may seem, they have a system in place, even a POS system (see receipt) which super impressed me! They took each item as it was, I received no judgement here, not like some places where they'll give you attitude for bringing in something small or low quality that's "not worth their time". Upon arrival, park as close to the building as you can. Grab a shopping cart, load your items, and they'll help you move the cart up to the loading dock with a forklift. My husband sent me here to bring in some copper scraps. He warned me that it's not a very intuitive set up and he wasn't wrong. I parked in the small lot in front of the yard gates. I then went over to find a cart to load up my scrap. Because it was non ferrous, I went over to the 3 non ferrous bays and approached the weigh desk and scale. It's a large metal plate on the ground and they weigh each type of metal in the cart, and then print out a chit which says how much of each metal you brought in. Your chit has your license plate number on it, which is basically your account number. Then you go line up in front of the trailer office where they process your chit for an official payout receipt. The receipt has all your account information, the day's rates for your metals, and the total amount you're entitled to. The receipt has a barcode on it which you take to another area near the entrance to cash out. I took my receipt to the cashout area, which is basically a specialized bank machine in an enclosed area with a storm door. This makes it feel more secure as I imagine some metal drops could add up to some significant cash. I scanned the barcode on my receipt and the machine dispensed my payout. Cool! I did have to wait outside quite a while lining up to get into the office and the signage could be better, but the service was friendly and otherwise good. Would definitely return anytime I had metals to drop.
