Just checking in to say that my five-star rating for the RPD continues!…read more A few nights ago, a really loud car alarm kept going off outside my house, starting a little before 2 AM. After the fifth time it went off, I got out of bed to call the police, but I was pleasantly surprised (and comforted) to see two squad cars already out there with flashlights. An hour later, the car alarm went off again. And again. And again. I think it went off a total of about thirty times before I finally called the non-emergency police station phone line at around 4 AM. I could not believe how quickly a squad car arrived at the scene. It only took two minutes TOPS for the car to arrive! Of course, the car alarm had stopped at that point, so I hope I didn't look like a crazy person. Despite the lack of car alarm, the policeman (or woman) remained outside waiting for a good fifteen minutes or so. Even though this is such a small seemingly non-significant interaction with the police, it is truly comforting to know that the Riverside Police are here for us, no matter the hour, and no matter the call. Even though I only called in a persistent car alarm, the police still deemed it valuable enough to stick around for a while.

The professionalism exhibit by this officer motivated me to write down this acknowledge to him and commend him for his professional behavior. I just can dream about a similar service by the CPD. Thanks officer Eberling!

They responded quickly to a suspicious vehicle with tinted windows that had been parked for a while, but............. when someone was attempting to break into our home, lots of questions as I am watching the car with the 2 men in it drive away. As I am describing the vehicle hoping the police will stop them before they exit the subdivision, I am being asked to describe the individuals, DID they get into the house, etc. As I am stating that they are now exiting the subdivision, the dispatcher says they will send someone out. Why bother? They are long gone. Did the police stop at my home to see about any damage? NO Was there any follow up to the incident? NO AND, they came back and attempted to get into another house in our subdivision, but had a bogus story when the homeowner answered the door. The home owner recognized the vehicle because I had sent out an e-mail to warn everyone. Congratulations to the Naperville Police Department, they caught the guys.

Maybe not there problem! 2) Cop finally shows up ask him to search home no can't do it with out partner, wait some more (criminal now long gone) Second cop shows up all tattooed up if he didn't get out of a cop car I would have guessed he was the crook coming back for more. And by the way the second cop could have care less!!!! 3) finally the CSI cop women shows up (she has more tattoo then the second guy) said she was going to take prints. I am pretty sure never happened. Never took my prints or any member of my family to eliminate 4) they were never really sure were they got in and were all leaving. When I was walking around my house to lock up I look at my back door and they ripped it out of the frame. Had to chase the cop back down to come look at it. They hardly cared. God forbid you park your car on the street at night though. There will be a ticket waiting for you. They don't serve and protect they are just revenue generators! Oh by the way it's been more then 10 days never even got a follow up call. Nice job Woodridge Police.

The State of Illinois does regard cursing at someone reportable if the victim feels threatened or…read moreunsafe. it is unlikely that asking a question to be met with the extreme of cursing is the way a doorman should respond. The job of a Doorman is safety for the residents. Unfortunately the 311 non emergency dispatcher explained he is a Policeman and I do not believe his total explanation nor refusal to consult the specific definitions. If this is a non emergency number I do not think the dispatcher should evaluate probable cause and criminality. My question after 45 minutes on hold was can a police report be made without a last name...he responded "yes." The next step was not necessary as I am the one threatened and he of course, turned it around on the victim. The exchange was 11:51 am, Saturday, December 13th, 2025. Does it take a murder ... ? My escalating incidents from a Doorman took place at 400 N. LaSalle Dr. Since no one seems to listen or consider random escalations of harassment lead to larger escalations of threats and safety concerns to the victim; the name of the Doorman is Dan should anything happen to me or my Service Animal please begin with him.
