Feckless and unaccountable come to mind in the lack of professionalism exhibited by this firm. From scheduling a closing after the days cutoff for wire transfers, to lack of knowledge of requirements for registration of deeds in Charleston County, poor knowledge of survey requirements, to arrogance of an attorney in Mt Pleasant telling me he wasn't giving us the key at closing until the wire transfer was complete, and I could drive 20 miles to pick up the key afterward. (It wasn't his 'job'). Wait a second, I just paid outrageous closing costs to be treated like a second class customer?? Guess again. The company is full of nepotism and daddy's girl gets a pass on her awful run Lowcountry operation. Find another!! read more

This is an excellent real estate law firm. Attorney Andrew Thompson assisted me with the closing of my condo. The entire process was seamless. Andrew was professionals, knowledgeable, and was available to answer my questions and concerns. McDonnell and Associates also assisted my mother when she sold her house in 2019. I sincerely appreciate their attention to detail and their slogan "Ready, Set, Close!". I would highly recommend Andrew Thompson and McDonnell and Associates! Poor excuse for a law firm. First they messed up the deed for my home on closing by putting he wrong name on all the paperwork. Then they said they were so busy that I could either wait a month to close on my home while they fixed the paperwork or pay to have to done now. Once the bill came in the mail over a year later it was addressed to the wrong name and and since it was certified mail the post office wouldn't let me sign for it. I had to call the office and argue with them on the correct name to have them send it again. It arrives and has no prepaid return envelope, even though it says they have enclosed one for my convenance. Bottom line: if you want to see a circus act clown show visit McDonnell & ASSociates, if you want legal work done go anywhere else. read more

I had contacted this firm regarding deed work a living will and a general will. After trying to get the attorney to follow up with me for 3 weeks he finally told me he didn't have time. I was absolutely insulted the treatment of a potential customer was disgusting. I will tell anyone that comes in contact with me never to use this firm again. This law firm is horrible and deserves a rating of zero! They made several mistakes during the closing process that ended up costing me money months after we had closed on our home. They were unwilling to correct the errors they made. If possible choose another firm to close on your home or run the risk of several errors being made during the process. read more

I only wish I could leave zero stars for the abysmal service we received from this law firm. They were not slow in responses to us, because there was very often in fact NO response to us. They do not answer the phone. They do not return messages or e-mails. I had to go to the office at one point to find out what was going on with our file because it had taken so long to get the title work done for our lender. I would NEVER recommend this business. The one redeeming employee they have is Stephanie Argoe. She is incredibly helpful, professional and courteous. Our experience was totally awful, except for our interaction with her. Save yourself the time and frustration and go elsewhere. read more

This firm was recommended to me in 2013 by Quicken Loans/Rocket Mortgage to handle a refinance that I was doing on my home. It's now 2021 and I had a contract to sell my house. Imagine my surprise to find out that McDonnell and Associates didn't make sure that the mortgage satisfaction had been filed at the time of refinance to my original lienholder. I and my current real estate attorney contacted their Managing Partner Mr. Thompson and were told that wasn't their responsibility it was the responsibility of the titling company that this office outsources to. Upon calling the titling service company, I'm told that filing the mortgage satisfaction was the responsibility of the attorney! This office refuses to do anything to help me. I'm losing the sale on my house because of this and now I'm the owner of a property that I can't sell. They refuse to help even though it was their job to check the company they outsourced to in order to make sure that the paperwork was completed and my deed was clear. I paid for a service that I never received. Despite what their website says, they only care about your money and are absolutely not helpful in resolving issues that are ethically their fault. Please beware and don't be suckered in by their "stellar" reviews on their website. If you are refinancing and your refinance company suggests them as a closer, do yourself a favor and say no! read more

It's a joke. Don't recommend at all. Sold the house before the poa got completed. I was even sent a poa giving someone from Ohio control if I wasn't able to perform my duties as poa. But was told by the lawyer who wrote it they went above and beyond. I just wanted them to do the job they got hired to do. The stress they created wasn't worth it. Use someone else you'll be glad you did. I won't let them write a receipt moving forward. I wish I could give zero stars. It's funny the below response they posted was exactly the same as the other review on here. Must be a generic response. Not impressed complaint stands. read more
