I moved everything out of my apartment I didn't wipe the fridge down I will admit that but everything was moved out and everything else was cleaned the landlord couldn't find anything to charge me for, so he charged me for nail holes. 23 nail holes and I only had 5 pictures and a tv mounted into the wall he took $115 for nail holes, the building downtown at 318 Brady is a hazard I moved out as soon as I could there was a major water break water coming through all light fixtures like a waterfall in my unit and the hallway, he said that the upstairs apartment turned the faucet the wrong way, mind you the electricity was on.. There was standing water in my light fixture I had to go turn all breaker switches off and all he did was pour the water out the fixture and vacuum up the water from the ceiling and floors and painted right over it. For starters the property at 2330 46th Street Court, Rock Island, IL is not a 4 bedroom home as advertised. Contact the city of Rock Island. They will tell you that it doesn't have egress windows downstairs. Check for mold behind the paneling in the basement area, they are covering many holes which holds moisture and it leaks. The plumbing is horrible, and you may potentially have sewage back up on you as you will see the pictures below. They will not be responsible for cleanup nor will they prorate you for any damages that may obtain. The wall in the basement will continue to bow year after year. You will notice they will never have the same maintenance man as they have a hard time keeping them possibly because they have a conscience. Please make note of that before renting also make sure to document any and everything if you decide to rent this property or deal with this property management company. They will go out their way to make sure you screwed. Please do your due diligence or you would deal with many stressful moments. Document all phone calls, dates and times when trying to contact them as they will cause many delays as possible before reaching back to you. Is it possible to rate zero stars? As a property owner I say run, do not walk, from McDonnell Property Mgt. I learned early on to quit dealing with them by way of phone because the he said she said was often inaccurate. I started dealing with him solely by email so that I would have everything in writing and all the receipts that I do have now on how miserable they are as property managers. The only reason I decided to use them is because they had good ratings online I have no idea where those good ratings came from and I questioned their validity.  Perhaps from the tenant side but I read some horror stories there as well. Just a few issues that I had and this is just the tip of the iceberg. I was given several different dates as to when my empty apartment actually rented. At first it was towards the end of January then I was told oh no it was the first of January and then lastly I was told it was the first of February even though I had been presented with a finally would show the rental date of January the 1st. How can any professional property management company NOT know a lease signing/move in date? Speaking of lease, the signed lease given to me had wrong company names on the lease it also had Iowa laws highlighted where our property is clearly in Illinois and several other errors. Based on the questionnaire that we took when we first started with them and the leases that we provided them at the beginning also, this should have never happened. We were told that the lease was locked in a drawer that no one had access to for weeks. We asked for a corrected signed lease and to have a few other issues addressed by way of email and more than a month went by before those requests were addressed. They allowed a tenant to move in without proof that the utilities had been switched to their name and of course I ended up giving them a free loan to pay their utilities. McDonnell assured me I would be reimbursed as if I should be happy to be making this interest-free loan to the tenant. Had I not demanded that something being done, I might still be paying there gas and electric bill. After all the issues, instead of them assuring me things would go better they offered to let me out of the contract. I didn't want my tenants to have to switch Property Mgt again so soon but I accepted their offer for my sanity and asked for them to expedite our final reports instead of taking the month and a half or more like they usually do to free myself from what seemed like being held hostage. At first Cortney refused to expedite but then changed her mind however it ended up not being expedited at all. I was given two early dates and both of those dates came and went and I did not receive my disbursement nor my reports. Every single month they found a way to reach in my pocket and find something extra that needed repairing. They also billed me for shoveling snow that my lease plainly states tenants are responsible for. I could go on and on but I won't. If you're looking for a place to live do not look here! I applied July 8th for a place. It's almost October an no move in date. All they care about is collecting their little $300 when you turn in your application and then they will send you off for months with excuse after excuse after excuse. whenever you call the office whoever answers the phone that day we'll give you a answer different from the answer you receive the day before. They like to "bandaids" the situation rather than fixing the situation. The property that I applied for has been listed on the Internet for the past 3 months. For months I kept getting the run around on why the property wasn't ready and why I couldn't see the property they kept canceling the inspections kept canceling the viewing of the apartment. Come to find out that it's infested with roaches not just my apartment the whole entire building and they've been aware of it and done nothing about it. It's very sad that they manage a lot of properties around here and take advantage of people and according to their Google reviews that you can't even leave anymore because they're so shity. My friend also rented from them took months to get in her place kept telling her oh we're waiting on closet doors oh we're waiting on this oh we're waiting on that oh the cleaning lady broke her hip when she finally didn't get into her apartment it was disgusting we had to deep clean it and guess what the place didn't even come with closet doors. This management company should be ashamed of themselves. They need to hire staff THAT KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING! REALLY A whole new staff needs to run that office because not a soul down there knows what they're doing! Every other day somebody's calling into work and not doing their job. You couldn't pay me to let them manage any of my properties if I was an owner of a property and they managed it and my s*** sat empty for months and months I would be livid! Don't even waste your time looking at a property because it's going to be dirty, nothing will work and they just paint over or rig shit to just get by. Once your in a place they no longer care and will give u a run around and never fix anything. They will tell u that you have Central Air an rig it long enough to have it work to make you rent. and then it will never work again.
