Go buy a bottle of nice wine or a bunch of flowers, whatever tickles your fancy. It's win, win, win! Orr's stock the best of the best. I would munch down on chicken olives if my life depended on it as long as they were from Orr's. Try their pork and leek sausages...I won't buy them from anywhere else! It's just a let down once you've tried them from here. Same goes for their chili sausages. The same probably goes for everything they sell. If I had the time and or money I'd have worked through it all by now. If I ever manage to do this I'll be sure to let you know. Though I'd maybe have died happy if I accomplished this. Stuck in the middle of a wide variety of old-looking shops is a fantastic little butchers, one which should (but never will) blow every supermarket and chain store out of the water. With every cut of meat you could possibly want, this place had a queue of about ten people waiting to get served. Anywhere else that would be deemed bad service and you would complain. However, a long queue in a butchers is a healthy thing because it shows that people trust it first and foremost, and don't mind paying over the odds for some great food. I would definitely recommend it, not solely because it sells some really top quality meat (especially the steaks) but because it is much better to support local produce rather than processed rubbish that gets shipped in from somewhere dark and dingy.

It's a family run place, and the staff are really friendly, and enjoy a good bit of chat or a joke with their clientele. One of only a couple of Butchers on the Antrim Road, Stanley's has the market cornered. During BBQ season the place is buzzing with people rushing to get their burgers and chicken breasts and steaks before that elusive sunshine disappears and at Christmas there is a list of people who have ordered turkeys in advance queuing outside to get their festive birds and hams. The quality of the meat is very good, and Stanley will order things in if you ask for them, but it is sometimes a little pricey compared to some other butchers I've tried, and he could try being a little more competitive by putting on more offers or discounts. But maybe he doesn't need to, as the place is always busy.

With Tescos located further up the road, the tendency is for customers to go to a chain store for cheaper meat. But as with most butchers, the food is nicer, particularly the minced beef which is perfect for any cottage pies or lasagne. I would definitely recommend this butchers because despite the price of their food being that bit higher than supermarkets, their food is much nicer and it is better to support local businesses.

Abbotts itself proudly proclaims on a board outside that all it's beef comes from it's own farm. How much more local can you possibly get?! Their lamb kebabs are fantastic. They are really cheap at 85p for one and make a fantastic lunch. Really happy this place is close to me.

My 5 yr old wanted sausages so I bought half a dozen each of pork, pork & leek and beef. On cooking there wasn't too much fat coming out of them, skins stayed intact and the meat was nice and juicy. There is a really reliable delivery service which is handy if you cant get the time to pop down to the shop which is located right at the heart of Ballyholme, on the Groomsport which means it is easy to get to by car and there is plenty of good parking right outside the shop. There are some other shops and an ATM right near by so its easy and convenient to get here and there is no real reason not to head to this wee shop.

Despite its looks it is a great butchers, my sister lives just up the road and I have been sent down here on many occasions to get sausages for a fry or bacon for a carbonara. It is very reasonable in price and it is a great local service. The guys in Ballyholme local meats are really friendly, they even got to know my 3 year old nephew by name and if he wasn't with me would ask how he was getting on. It is this type of individuality that helps businesses sustain their customer base and I for one will certainly go back in for a favourable cut of meat.
