'Twas the week before Christmas And in front of the house A gas leak was brewing Alarming my spouse... McHugh's Plumbing came out the week before Christmas in the cold to replace a leaking gas line in front of our house. This was the only company that took our call on a Saturday, was able to come out the next day, and could get a team together to do the repair in a couple of days. Our home suffered a number of water issues due to the 'bomb cyclone' weather event. Bob McHugh was incredibly responsive to my panicked call on 12/26 when many other companies weren't open and dispatched a team to address a broken water pipe. Bob also made a call to a water mitigation company to assist with cleanup. They came back a couple days later to address further water issues. I reached out to McHugh's Plumbing for a replacement of two bathroom toilets. Owner Bob McHugh responded immediately to my message, understood my timeline, and placed me on the schedule quickly. He was transparent on pricing, and even though he was out of town, kept me updated on the scheduled repair, alerting me when the plumbers were on their way. I met Bob's brother, Tom, and plumber, Brian. They were professional, neat, and efficient. They also provided the parts I needed, and warranted them (not a surprise- the old toilets were, well, old). They were done within two hours, they hauled away the old toilets, and cleaned the walls where the old toilets once were (the new toilets had a different profile). All in all, I was impressed with the ease of scheduling, the efficiency of the work, and the quality of the work. Great experience. read more

Awful customer service. After a few attempts at getting them out to the house, they finally came out. $140 later they told us what work needed to be done and that the other brother would be in touch to schedule the work. A week goes by...no call. We text them. They say they're on it and will call before the day is over...no call. We then call and still no response. We filed a complaint with the BBB and they didn't respond to that either! They're crooks. They took our money and didn't come out to do any follow up. Thankfully we found another great plumbing company to come out who didn't charge to diagnose the problem. I wouldn't recommend McHugh Plumbing to anyone! read more

Bob put a camera down the sewer line to check for any blockages. Showed me on the screen that I had 90% blockage in the sewer line going out to the street but since it was January they couldn't do the work until the weather warmed. Even had me flush the toilet and showed how the water flowed back after it hit the blockage. They were scheduled to come out in March but on the date they never showed and didn't call until 4:30 that afternoon. Wanted to reschedule but we had a family emergency come up so I said I would call them back. I decided to get a second opinion because after asking several times for a quote on how much it would cost to dig up the front yard to get to the blockage so he could replace the clay tiles with PVC pipe he wouldn't give me a quote. I had another plumber come out and he also put a camera in the clean out and low and behold there IS NO BLOCKAGE. I said there must be because he showed me on the screen I had a blockage so he put the camera in again and showed me all the way to the street that I had NO BLOCKAGE. He told me he must have showed me someone else's video as you can store videos on the screen. Be very wary of McHughs Plumbing. read more

Needed an urgent gas line repair after finding a gas leak and getting our gas shut off by Dominion on a Thursday night. Bob answered his phone at 7:30pm and they worked us into their scheduled and were done with repairs by Friday afternoon. Bob is very quick to respond to phone calls and texts and Matt did a great job with our repair and was very helpful in trying to get everything settled with our home warranty company. WAY OVERPRICED! He charged $595 to unclog a toilet, $75 and $85 to replace flapper valves, and an additional $235 to reinstall the toilet. Total bill was $1120 for repair work that most people could do themselves. I do not recommend this service. Get a quote from someone else. read more
