Great wings, nice beer selection, solid setting and quality patio. Fairly priced. Can't beat this place in Halliburton. I see several bad reviews by a bunch of whiners and babies. Set your expectations. It's reasonably priced pub food. And for what it is, it's great. It's not Michelin star fine dining so don't judge it by that criteria. We rented a cottage 20min from Halliburton and popped into town to take out some wings one night. It was so solid we went back again after playing a round of golf later in the week. The absolutely only negative is that there was a big beautiful bar, but no bar seating. Not sure if this is some kind of Covid hold over policy. But I'd always prefer to have my beer and wings sitting at the bar. read more

Though service is a bit slow if your in a hurry. The food when it arrived was fantastic, fresh and ready to eat. It is a pub/bar/restaurant so it can be a bit loud but the seating and lighting was enjoyable. There are a few stairs that may be steep for some but in summer there is a great patio just outside the front door. Been back a few times, alway enjoyable. read more

So thankful that it was opened on Thanksgiving Day! Quite a cozy and relaxed family restaurant / sports bar with TVs and a full bar. We came across McKeck's since Baked & Battered was closed for the holiday :( But it was definitely a great find in Haliburton because McKeck's had a great menu, delicious locally brewed beers, decent prices, and fantastic customer service. We ordered fish and chips to share! The waiter and kitchen staff seemed to automatically know how to split the order for us... very thoughtful of them and they gave us a generous amount of fries each! You can sub for sweet potato fries too ^^ I was also very excited to try a local Haliburton brew. We couldn't decide on two... so the server suggested that we sample first. They came in these cute mason jars :D! #easilyamused lol. The Honey Brown one was definitely my fave! I would love to come back for more comfort food and local beers the next time I visit Haliburton in autumn :) read more

Generally a good place to go, how ever the quality of the food isnt always the best. I have been here a number of times, however the last two times i had problems. It was busy one day, the staff forgot part of my order and it took 45 min to get our order. The last visit, all of our food was cold. We were the only ones in the restaurant. Overall, this place is till my go to place. Im just not as enthusiastic as i was at first. read more

We have been coming to McKeck's in Haliburton for years. Regret to report this evening at 6:30 PM Sept 9, 2021 the service was slow, the ribs were overdone, the Atlantic Salmon was at best par and the apple strudel had very little apples in it Can not recommend the restaurant if this is the new service and quality of food read more

Over priced!!! Spent $12 for mozza sticks because i wasnt too hungry and EVERYTHING costs more, and come to find there is only 6 pathetic looking sticks that were mediocre at best. Ive had better from frozen meals read more

We stopped in for a quick bite .., first mistake. The service was very slow. The chicken cesar wrap was served on a stale tortilla with dried out chicken and little to no dressing. The perogies were no better. They were so dry I actually choked on the hard crusty shell. I asked for a raspberry cooler and got a black cherry. For $70+ I unfortunately would not recommend. read more

I just came back from my cottage in Haliburton, and again (like always) we went to Mckecks Bar on Saturday night. I come to this bar every single time I come to my cottage, and that's about once every 6 months. I've eaten here a few times since my last review. Just want to say that, relatively speaking, they hit on every level here. The food is still good, choice of hamburgers, pasta (minimal choices there), soups, salads, and my friend ordered a curry butter chicken dish that looked delicious! They have a lot more dishes, that's just all I can care to remember right now. The service is always fantastic, and the atmosphere is great. Very disappointed! Went there for dinner this evening and upon showing my vaccine paperwork and ID I was refused entry as my photo ID was a picture of my health card! I have been to numerous restaurants, sporting events, theatres throughout Ontario since this has been a requirement and have always been admitted. read more

This is my first time in Haliburton with my boyfriend and some friends from America. We were trying to find some Canadian food and this place really had a great menu. We each got a poutine and an entree, all of the poutines were amazing and the Bollywood one was so good my friend got some curry sauce to go. I ordered the crispy shrimp wrap for my main meal and the waitress informed me that the shrimp are "lightly" battered. I am not a fan of any seafood that is really breaded or battered so I thought lightly would be fine. However, when my meal came the shrimp were so battered that I could not even taste the actual shrimp. This is the only reason I gave this place a four instead of a five star review. read more

I ordered the Thai chicken wrap. The description is a bit disingenuous. This should be called a "lettuce wrap with a very few pieces of scattered chicken in it." Oh my golly! There was probably less than a quarter-cup of diced chicken in this rather large wrap. I'm not sure why I bothered ordering a salad on the side when I clearly didn't need the extra lettuce. And this was not a cheap wrap. I think it was about 13 bucks. If you're charging 13 bucks in the boonies, at least give me a whole chicken breast in my wrap. McKeck's Tap & Grill is that comfy and local kind of place that you want to return to time and time again. Erin the chef and his competent kitchen staff are spot on for every dish they prepare fresh and serve; same for the bar and wait staff which are always friendly and welcoming to everyone that comes to dine at this amazing establishment. McKeck's has a varied menu with their famous "real beef" home burgers and steak sammies but the real winner here is their Seafood Chowder which they only serve on Fridays; this soup is seafood love in a bowl..... Try the Bollywood too, you won't be disappointed. Be sure to introduce yourself to Karen, Mick and Erin when you drop in and be treated like family. I do however hope to see some Friday and Saturday night blues and country rock band entertainment coming soon (over to you Mick!) read more

I made the mistake of ordering fish and chips and I should have known better. Hands down, I was served the worst excuse for fish and chips...EVER... in my 73 years of life. The batter was hard as a rock and the fish was dry. I do not believe that I was served Halibut even though the menu said it would be Halibut. The chef should have been taken out back and shot for allowing that plate to leave the kitchen. The cole slaw was watery and the french fries were boring and tasteless. The only thing that could have saved this meal was a stick of dynamite under the plate to blow it to hell. As for atmosphere......what atmosphere??? Would I go back again? No way. Just really good soul/pubby food. The restaurant is really cozy (especially in the winter). The food is always great -- really good warm sandwiches, poutines, salads, etc. The service is snappy and the waiters are very nice. Love this place!!!! read more

Way too much money for what you get. Wings were not so great 17$. A overcooked crap burger basic. 18 bucks. I really don't know why this place gets good reviews. Just a rip. Great atmosphere though. The wings were just fabulous, and they put just the amount of hot sauce on them. They really know how hot to make their sauces. One person might think that a certain sauce is absolute suicide, while another person thinks that the same sauce is super mild. I am sure that there are better wing places out there, but McKecks is really up there in my favourites. Some restaurant owners think that they have to be the best at making a certain kind of food. The beer selection is decent but I went with the Murphy's Irish Stout in draught form because well it's the right thing to do. They also have four varieties of Poutine. There's of course the traditional curds, gravy and fries. There's a curried, a jerk chicken and a pulled pork version. McKeck's is located in the heart of town where there were many pedestrians walking around and a few places to visit. Next time I visit my friends cottage at Blue Hawk Lake I'll try the other pub across the street to make a good comparison. read more

Just ate here and I have o say I was pretty impressed. Extensive menu but the food was well above average and the service was excellent.

We grew weary of cooking over a fire with sticks and tin foil and decided to give civilization a try again. We ventured into Haliburton and found few places open late on a Sunday night. We decided to go inside. We expected a bar with not much else but we're very pleased to find a well lit, clean pub. The service was very good, only bested by the food. I had pierogies. I usually consider them to be a side, however as a meal they were excellent. Great cheese flavor, fantastic comfort food. I didn't get to try the beers, the selection looked excellent but driving and all, not a good idea. I would go back. read more

My favourite place to go for dinner in Haliburton. Service is quick in the off season and slows in the summer because the foot traffic increases 10 fold, but still so worth it. Waiters and waitresses are very friendly and personable. Looove their chicken club melt. read more

I visited the Village of Haliburton for the first time, on a Tuesday night in July. While looking for a place to eat, a passer-by recommended McKeck's. The daily special was excellent, chicken wings were delicious, service was exemplary, the atmosphere was very friendly, restrooms were clean and the decor was interesting.
