We were given room at the Eisenhut building across from the main hotel, clearly a lower tier accommodation. The pictures speak for themselves. Be aware, if you book a room and make sure to ask if it is in 4 Herngasse, which is across from the main hotel and not what is pictured on their website. They don't post those pictures for a reason. Very disappointed with the misrepresentation.

Design: the exterior neoclassical design is quite nice, it is cozy, inviting and at the same time, elegant. Probably the best part about the hotel. The lobby is small and simple, as one would expect for a hotel in this range. The room design was also quite a simple one and was a bit cramped, but modern and nice which is contrasting to many hotels in Rothenburg that show their age and lack of upkeep. Service: at check in, they were very direct as people appear to be all around Germany. Basically, straight to the point, no chatter. The lady was kind to walk us to the room. Comfort: the room bedding was again about what one would expect, not particularly comfortable, but bearable. There is no air conditioning, which can get annoying depending on the weather. Coffee maker did not work despite many attempts. Parking is very limited. Shower was nice and hot. Overall impression, I'd stay here again as options are pretty slim in Rothenburg. Two sinks, a tub that could fit two and a shower stall. The bathroom was just as big as the bedroom! I guess this is why the hotel is rated as a 4-star hotel on booking.com. Breakfast was included during our stay and is served in the ground floor parlor. The ambience of the entire hotel is "old" in a historical kind of way. Pretty cool. The hotel covers three floor and is accessible by stairs and a small elevator. A nice convenience feature in an old building.
