Highway traffic is an ever present noise throughout the forested park. There's a picnic shelter with BBQ grill, April-October restroom, low ropes obstacle course, and access to the Katy Trail. Group camping is also available but I didn't see the camping area. Make sure your brakes are good for the STEEP decline from the bluffs to the Katy Trail. A trail spur connects to the I-64 bridge connector path across the Missouri River to the Monarch-Chesterfield Levee Trail in St. Louis County.

However, the trail goes past the golf course along Dardenne Creek to Mexico road. The problem I have is the park is cutoff from the townhouse subdivision where I live. (Just drive to Dew Court) This is a small annoyance.

A historic home is located there with some neat history if you get the chance to stop and read. It's a great place for family photos or wedding/homecoming. There is a great playground for kids with a pavilion next to it. I really enjoy the quiet of the park. I feel safe even coming here alone.

My earlier review opinion hasn't changed: Towne is a wonderful park that should appeal to about any age and ability. My greatest criticism of it is that it's just feet from busy Highway 61 and you can't escape the traffic hum, even on the furthest trails. (If you overlook the traffic noise and award Towne five stars I won't argue.) Today I walked the periphery on a series of trails that put me on natural, crushed stone, and asphalt surfaces. They skirted two ponds and went up and down moderate hills. The feature asphalt trail is just over a mile and passes through woods and prairie. Children will enjoy the outdoor classroom that's as much playground as teaching tool.
