I received my certification to teach Mindfulness and Meditation through the McLean Meditation Teacher Academy. It was a wonderful experience every step of the way. I attended the SEED meditation class as I am new to meditation, and was both inspired and filled with new knowledge. Several attendees had come from Hong Kong, Ireland and all parts of US, and this diversity of experience made it even more enjoyable. I highly recommend it as a way to unplug and find a little joy. I learned that we "metabolize" our life by not only what food we consume but by the thoughts we have and the people we spend time with. Different types of meditation were explained and tools were suggested. Very useful. And finally, the location in Sedona AZ is so beautiful. Several years back, I began to recognize stress was stealing my life. I had become unclear of my purpose and was missing life's joy. I read somewhere that meditation had many benefits, especially the benefit of stress reduction. So I did what most people do, I Googled 'meditation'. Sarah McLean's (MMI) link was first on the list and she was hosting a retreat in Tahoe in a few weeks. With a couple days of vacation left in the year and some frequent flyer miles, what did I have to lose? I signed up. That evening, Sarah called to welcome me to the class. After taking a meditation class in San Diego and experiencing more focus and less anxiety, I wanted to learn more about mindfulness and share this amazing resource with my fellow endurance athletes and college students. I looked into my options, and the McLean Meditation Institute seemed the most legitimate choice. The coursework is 150 hours, and the week-long intensive is 50 hours. Highly recommend! I was in Sedona for vacation and had been meaning to try a mindfulness/meditation class for the first time. So glad I found McLean institute. All I needed was right there, tucked away upstairs in this adorable little studio. From the moment I walked through the doors of the McLean Meditation Institute I was at peace. The shop in the front of the studio was amazing. The staff was very attentive to my questions but yet not intrusive at all. Sarah's meditation class was hands down the best I have ever attended. Sarah created a very warm and inviting experience in the room. Her tone was so soothing and I just felt so connected to her style of teaching. During a two night stay in Sedona, I was looking for a meditation, yoga, or Qi Gong class to attend. McLean Meditation Institute was located nearby our Bed & Breakfast and was advertising a 45 minute donation-based guided meditation. Walking in to a crowded, warm, inviting space, I had not quite put together the fact that the Sarah leading the meditation was in fact Sarah McLean of McLean Meditation. She was warm, humorous, and easy to understand from the beginning. I loved the format of the 45 minutes. She led a 20 minute discussion followed by a 20 minute body awareness meditation. I loved this because the 20 minute discussion was filled with key take-aways about meditation that helped to get us all in the mindset to actually quiet our minds. Sarah's teaching was so down to earth and accessible that it renewed my commitment to do more guided meditations. Her expertise for having meditated 27 years manifested in her concise and easy-to-follow instruction. My fiancé and I left feeling totally renewed for the rest of our vacation in Sedona. read more
