My doctor's office made the referral appointment for me, and I was very pleased to be able to get in to see him so soon - in just 5 days. I got to the office on time - was given 2 sheets of paper to fill out that wasn't in the 'online' version - and took care of doing the things you have to do when visiting a urologist. Typically I get gun shy, but luckily for me, everything came out as expected... After filling the cup, my wait was less than 15 minutes until I was called to be seen. I did all the 'new patient Olympic tricks' - checked my height, my weight - my blood pressure - temp - and was taken to 'the room' to wait for Doctor Chapman. The room was as comfortable as you can be, waiting for a doctor. I could overhear him talking to the patient in the next room - couldn't understand what they were talking about - but he was answering the patient's questions thoroughly - and that already impressed me. I like it when my doctor answers my questions, so there's another 'plus' mark in my ratings book. When he came into the room, he introduced himself - and I in return - and he started asking questions about the answers and concerns I had indicated on the forms that I had filled out. He listened to my questions - and answered them very professionally. He followed up with more info insuring me that he was giving me good information - and that he cared about my overall health and well being. We talked about a game plan he is going to put me on, and I look forward in working with him very much. He ordered some blood tests, and scheduled my next appointment with him - and now comes the 'fun' part... Time to meet the vampire who'll take my blood! I don't like having my blood drawn. Unless it's with a pen or a pencil, having my blood drawn is never on my million things to do.... ever. The guy in my primary care physician's office, has high ratings from me, in drawing my blood. This woman makes Doug look like a novice. She was OUTSTANDING! When she got done, I literally gave her a HUGE hug, as I've had mosquitos do more painful blood extractions than she did... I mean this woman ROCKS! I look forward in working with the staff at his office - and of course with Dr. Chapman... They are all very professional and did I mention how awesome the blood taking lady is?... She scored a 25 on a 1 to 10 scale!

I absolutely cannot recommend them!  Save yourself the time, money, hassle, and pain if you're in…read morepain by going to another digestive doctor because you'll likely end up there anyways!  The doctor was in and out.  He barely looked up at me.  He stuttered a lot and seemed quite distracted during my first appointment.  I should have walked away then but it waa hard getting the referral and I was desperate.  His answer, endoscopy and ultrasound.   No trying medines.  I didn't even get anything for my excessive vomiting.  I had my procedure, which was 6 weeks out!  Yes, I'm in severe pain and throwing up all the time but that isn't important.  It showed that I did have a hiatal hernia but that didn't explain the majority of my issues.  I also had some abnormalities from the biospy that needed to be looked into.  They did one test and it was negative.   I got a call about that and basically was told they were done with me.  Excuse me?  You see something wrong but make 1 effort to figure it out and basically cut me off?  I even asked during the last phone call if I needed to try changing my diet.  She told me to keep a food journal.  Then do what with it?  Give it to my dog?  I'm still in the same position I started in minus a big chunk of money.  Well, not really since my new doctor has diagnosed me. I ended up going to Dr. Rice and seeing his nurse practioner who was amazing and attentive.   She was able to come up with some theories and send me for testing which has pinpointed the problem and I am getting it fixed now but this should have been done 3 months ago!  I guess I was just another insurance to overcharge and not a patient sick and in pain.  That or their skill level doesn't go beyond the basics and that's quite scary. Also, when I called to pay my first bill they charged my debit card 2 days later and another 2 days later they charged it again.  I am certain it was done intentionally because they were done on two different days as two different transactions and the second one was applied to another bill!

Through my healthcare journey, I have never experienced a medical practice so unresponsive, so lacking in compassion and the worst, so incompetent. I was having a major complication a week out of surgery performed by Dr Spindler. I called and left a message on the nurse line. I never heard back so I called again. A message was relayed back to me that what I was experiencing was normal. I never spoke to anyone except the person who relayed the message. I knew it wasn't normal but I was never able to reach an actual person to speak with and no one returned my calls. By now, 30+ hours later, I was in so much pain that my husband had to take over. It took 12 calls for someone to FINALLY talk to me and to finally talk to Dr Spindler. He looked at the photo I sent and agreed that it was not normal (later he would say that he's only seen this once before). It was 3:00 on Friday. He said to continue to take pain medication or go to the ER if I couldn't wait until Monday. I asked for a refill of the pain medication and was told by the nurse that it would be quicker to get it in the ER than for her to get back in touch with the doctor. Needless to say, I ended up in the ER. The NP said that the procedure that I needed was too dangerous to perform in the ER. He increased my pain medication and sent me home with orders to see the Dr Spindler first thing Monday morning. I ended up having surgery that following Tuesday. The complication had gone untreated for so long that I ended up with an infection requiring two weeks of strong antibiotics. At my final appointment, I was able to pull Dr Spindler aside to tell him about my experience with his staff. What disturbed me was that he said that he has heard the same story 4-5 times in the last week. He also said that they'll get new people, things go well for a few months and then the same thing happens all over. I understand the issues with today's workforce but if this is something that occurs every 5-6 months then I have to believe that the problem may be systemic, something that just can't be brushed off as "people just don't want to work". I know the most important thing when choosing a doctor is their competence. When I read a review for a doctor, I usually disregard comments about the staff. In this case, please heed my warning, think very, very hard about going to this practice. Because of the staff, I suffered unnecessarily. I've never had such intense pain (and I've had 4 knee replacements). I suffered serious complications that could have been avoided had someone actually talked to me, asked a few questions, had a little compassion. To rotely tell me "it's normal" was completely unconscionable.

This man, my radiation oncologist Dr. Childs, and my general surgeon Dr. Shepherd, all saved my life when I was first diagnosed with breast cancer. He never makes excuses when faced with a health concern; instead, he keeps investigating until he finds the right answer. ​His nurse, Shana, is the first person I see when I go in, and she is truly dedicated to her job.
