The recent storms in London brought down a few of our fence panels at home. So, my sister and I headed out to look for supplies to perform a few repairs. Wickes had more builders' materials than Homebase across the road We got good advice from the staff and walked out with the right tools to effect the necessary repairs. Sadly, if the fence falls down again, I'll have to blame my DIY skills rather than the materials. As you know, a bad workman blames his tools!

Our neighbours, friends and a local builder have all commented on the excellent brickwork and tidiness whilst the project was underway. We could not have wished for a more polite, conscientious and hard working team. Our thanks to Scott, Elliot and Jed for making it an extremely pleasant building experience. Even with the very difficult weather conditions they never failed to arrive early and cheerfully get on with the job. Dave and Tony, your plumber and electrician, have the same work ethics. They explained what they would be doing and worked hard and efficiently to get the job done. All round S M Berry Building Contractors Ltd have a truly brilliant team and I would unreservedly recommend them to anyone undertaking a building project. Our new garage, lounge and en-suite bedroom all seem larger than we expected and have transformed the feel of our home. They also have sample doors and worktop pieces of all their ranges plus displays of handles. They don't have the same amount on display as many other kitchen companies but it was sufficient for us. The staff were really helpful and provided us with details of some local builders and kitchen fitters they recommend. This was so helpful and we may be going with one of them who we wouldn't have heard of otherwise but seems much better than others we've met. We booked a Howden's designer to come out and measure up, which is a free service they offer. A really nice guy called Terry came out, measured the kitchen area and asked about items and appliances we want included. He was brilliant at giving ideas and advice for things we wouldn't have thought about such as not having cupboards with glass fronts next to the cooker/hob as they get steamed up/greasey/dirty more easily there. Less than a week after the measure we were emailed a link to see 3D CAD drawings of the kitchen with a video 'walking through' the plan. We can now ask for changes to be made where we think necessary and go into the branch to go through it too. The units seem good quality but I'll be able to update this if we do get our kitchen through Howden's.

WindowHub sent Jamie out to provide a quote. He did a good job. After placing the order they…read moresaid it would take some time to get the order made. That was October. In January I called to enquiry about installation. 5 phone calls later they advised they cancelled the order because the surveyor was not sure how they would fit the front door. No mentioned of the other 2 doors. Instead of saying sorry we've arranged this contract at a price that we can't fullfill they lied to me and said they would honour the original price for the doors except the front door that they thought would be difficult to fit. Just so they could get Jamie back to my house to requote for everything. Jamie then started to spin this web of lies to convince me that it is okay to do what they are doing. Daniel Robb the owner was pulling the strings on this process. The annoying thing is that if you look in the car park of Window Hub and find the car Daniel drives it will be an Audi or BMW. New. Probably on finance but funded by the ample profits his company is producing. Or funded by his salary even if the company isn't making any profits. This is the problem with dealing with a small business who do not have any experience of how to negotiate contract properly or plainly how to communicate. All they car about is what money they are making and how flash they are going to look in their new BMW. They have wasted my time and cost me a lot of money having to purchase doors at current inflated prices. They didn't even have an explanation that made sense or an excuse really. Zero stars on my review. I will be using Safestyle due to price, professionalism, and ability to carry out installation. Feedback I would give the WindowHub apart from the obvious is that they shold have a charity they support. Nothing. What benefit to society or the local community does Daniel Robb give? He just wants a flashy car - well that's just the way it appears and apprearances are everything. Greed is good.... as the saying goes.

Armourtex took my very average white Charge Grater 3 and turned it into a sexy, hot pink, orange and black beast. It wasn't particularly cheap, but I didn't want cheap - I'd have done it myself if I'd wanted to save money. Max, who did the tech work, couldn't have been more helpful and showed me how to do some useful maintenance tricks. Even recommended a couple of more local places to me for minor repairs if I needed them, rather than coming all the way back. He also gave me a lot of really useful info on tyres, and clearly knows his stuff. The reviewer who said it's inconvenient to get to must have a very low travel threshold - it's literally 4 mins walk from Hoxton Overground. Yasmin was very helpful and friendly, and kept me informed of progress along the way. The bike looks amazing, and it got a complete strip-down, rebuild, and service, so it's nonsense to suggest that you need to have your bike completely stripped before you bring it. That is actually the exact reason I brought mine here, as I had been told by another place I'd have to do this and I don't have time. I will be popping back there anytime I feel I need some more customisation, and I would use again in an instant. Added some pictures in my profile so you can see before and after.
