Quill gives Meadowsweet Midwifery 5 Milks
    Bennixio ..

Melissa, Geneva and Margie we awesome. My partner was pregnant for the first time and really wanted to have a homebirth. Melissa and Geneva are incredibly knowledgeable and warm and open and reassuring and thorough. We have an unconventional queer family structure and we were very nervous about finding a midwife who would be comfortable with us and who would make us feel comfortable. From the first 5 minutes we decided to go with Melissa and her team and I would heartily recommend them to anyone even considering homebirth. Quill was born in August and Meadowsweet made that experience everything we wanted in a pregnancy and labor and aftercare. These people are the best at what they do, support them!

She never pushed an agenda - instead, she empowered us with information, supported our wishes, and helped us feel prepared every step of the way. During labor and delivery, she was an incredible advocate while also working seamlessly alongside the medical team. Her ability to strike that balance - supporting us wholeheartedly while fostering a collaborative environment with our doctors and nurses - made us feel genuinely cared for. Beyond her expertise, Merrie is simply an amazing human being. Compassionate, calming, intuitive, and deeply invested in her clients, she made one of the most important days of our lives so much better than we ever could have imagined. I truly cannot recommend her enough. If we're lucky enough to have another baby, Merrie will be my very first phone call to make sure she's available for the birth.

Then I found Dr. Margie Amos. I left my appointment feeling like I could cry again, but this time they were tears of happiness. I finally had answers and was met with a doctor who was patient, attentive, and never rushed me. She wasn't bothered by my anxiety or my long list of questions. She was thorough, educational, and incredibly kind. I am so grateful I found her and that she took the time to truly get to the bottom of what was going on. She ordered tests that no one else had considered and looked at everything from multiple perspectives. She provided several options for next steps, clearly explained each one, and helped create a game plan we both feel confident about. I truly cannot say enough good things about this doctor.

I arranged my entire life around it, took an extended leave from work, made arrangements for my recovery, and showed up at the hospital on the morning of my scheduled surgery prepared to have the procedure. **The hospital had no record of my surgery.** I was left standing there on the morning of surgery trying to figure out what had happened. I was later told that the person responsible for scheduling at my doctor's office had sent the request to the hospital, but the hospital says they never received it. Apparently, no one from the office ever followed up to confirm that an operating room had actually been reserved. Because of that failure, my surgery did not happen. They then attempted to reschedule me for the following Monday. At that point, the hospital/anesthesiology team required additional medical testing before proceeding. I completely understood the need for the testing and immediately did everything that was asked of me. I have now completed the required testing and have repeatedly called and begged this office to tell me what is happening and get my surgery back on the schedule. **They have essentially stopped responding to me.** The most unbelievable part is that I finally had to get **my insurance company involved just to find out what was happening.** My insurance company contacted the practice and then informed me that the person responsible for scheduling my surgery had gone on vacation and would not return until the 20th. No one from the practice bothered to tell me this. Apparently, after their original scheduling error caused me to show up at a hospital for a surgery that wasn't actually on the hospital's schedule, my case was simply allowed to sit while the person handling it went on vacation--with seemingly no one else taking responsibility for getting my surgery scheduled. I have been calling. I have been leaving messages. I have explained repeatedly that I am already off work and losing income. I have pleaded for someone to call me back. At this point, I don't even have enough time left in my leave to reasonably schedule the surgery and recover before I am supposed to return to work. This isn't a missed haircut or a dinner reservation. **This is surgery.** Patients arrange their jobs, finances, transportation, family support, recovery care, and their entire lives around a surgical date. There is absolutely no excuse for a medical practice to allow a patient to arrive at a hospital for surgery without confirming that the surgery was actually scheduled--and then, after causing that disruption, fail to communicate with the patient while the situation becomes progressively worse. What has been most upsetting is not simply that a mistake happened. People make mistakes. It is the **complete lack of urgency, accountability, communication, and effort to fix the mistake afterward.** I trusted this practice with my medical care. Instead, I have been left chasing them for answers while losing income and watching the window I set aside for a medically necessary procedure disappear. I am posting this because prospective patients deserve to know how this office handled my surgical care when something went wrong. I am still waiting for someone from this practice to take responsibility, call me, and tell me how they intend to get my surgery scheduled.

We asked her to be our Doula, and we are so glad she was with us on the day we met our sweet baby girl. One of the main reasons we love Danielle is her attitude and perspective towards giving birth. She helped us have an amazing natural birth, but she also made sure we were all on the same page with the choices that come up during the process. She wants you to feel comfortable and prepared for wherever the labor process takes you : ) Danielle is very relaxed and matter of fact, which was exactly what I needed to keep me sane. Secondly, her focus is on a team effort. This makes Mom and Dad center of attention and helps us be the best team we can be rather than take the place of Dad. In order to do this she helped my husband understand what I might need and provided advice on how to get through tough points during the day. Obviously it is not all rainbows and sunshine, but when I thought I couldn't make it she helped us problem solve and get through it. Her postpartum visit was so sweet and pre-visits were very helpful. She can come to your house before or meet you at the hospital. Danielle made it a point to meet with us a couple of times beforehand; spending over 1.5 hours each time, answering all of our questions and explaining what the process could potentially look like. She even made sure we had multiple birth plans so all of our bases were covered. Most importantly though, we felt like we had an invaluable resource during the labor process. From finding the most comfortable position for myself as things progressed, coaching my husband on what was normal (it's all so foreign when it's your first), to what he should say/do to provide the most support was not something we could have done on our own. (Can you really imagine navigating all of that on your own? No thank you.) In the end, my husband and I felt like we were their only clients (not the case, there was another birth the same day/around the same time!). But the love and care showed to us even after our daughter's birth made us realize how authentic Roots to Nest was and is. Do yourself a favor and hire a doula. Hire Roots to Nest!

The other midwife would not test me, even though the test was a simple blood test. I expressed my concerns to Janet and she ordered a test for me without question, even though she disagreed with me on the relevance of the mutation to pregnancy. Janet listened and eased my fears and walked me through everything I could need to know about how home births usually play out. I had told her that the birth of my son had been traumatic both physically and mentally, and she took that into consideration to make sure that both my mind and my body were cared for during labor. She took all measures necessary to make sure I did not feel violated during this labor as I had with my son. I called Janet to my house once my contractions were close together and unignorable. When she got there, my contractions came erratically and far apart. She stayed for a few hours to see if they would pick back up, and they didn't. She said "I don't think you're in labor." I said, "That's not possible." And she said, "Okay. I'll stay." It is so refreshing to have a medical professional take you seriously and BELIEVE you when you tell her about your own body. About twelve hours of erratic contractions later, Janet informed me that she thought my waters were preventing the baby from dropping down, and asked me whether it would be okay to break my waters. After a few questions, I agreed. She broke my waters and immediately I felt I had to push. Three pushes later I had my baby in my arms. Throughout the intensity of that time, Janet was there encouraging me and making sure I knew I could do it. Thanks in part to her care, I can say that that day is the most proud I've ever been of myself and I am empowered knowing that I'm capable of that degree of strength.

She knows her stuff, but her 35+ years of experience leave her stuck in her ways. I utilized the Hypnobabies program during my pregnancy and birth, and I always felt like Janet did an internal eye roll anytime I mentioned it. When telling her my preferences for my birth plan, I was basically told how SHE does things and that nearly all of my choices were "wrong." So why did I continue to work with her? To put it simply, she was the only CNM in the state that did home births. Everyone else spoke so highly of her, I never understood the hype. What's worse is that the birth of my daughter took a sharp left turn, and I ultimately had to get a c-section. The level of empathy and follow-up from Janet was subpar at best...and for the hefty bill we paid for her, my dollars could've easily been better spent elsewhere. I was diagnosed with postpartum depression shortly after my daughter's birth. Janet couldn't seem to care less, and all I felt was judgment for wanting to quit breastfeeding. To get an idea for her lack of empathy, just see the attached image of the last text I ever sent to her. It was 6 weeks after my daughter's birth, and she NEVER followed up to see how I was doing or how I was handling the postpartum depression. The last I spoke to her on the phone was to collect our credit card for the final bill. By the time I was due for my 6-week postpartum check up her bill was already paid...so why bother, right?

I arrived open-minded and hopeful, but after my experiences here, I've decided to seek care elsewhere. I've experienced two pregnancy losses while under the care of this practice, and during an already difficult time, the care I received often felt more one-size-fits-all than individualized. I recognize that this may be influenced by the volume of patients or broader systems within pregnancy care, but for me, it meant that I didn't always feel truly seen or held as an individual with a unqiue history. The midwife I worked with was kind, but on more than one occasion she appeared unfamiliar with important details of my medical history. After experiencing my first pregnancy loss with her, it was difficult to return just three months later and realize she had not reviewed my chart before coming in to discuss my second loss. In that moment, the lack of preparation felt especially painful. Scheduling appointments was also challenging, and after my second loss I waited an additional 45 minutes to see a doctor, which added to an already emotionally difficult experience. After my second pregnancy loss, I was not offered guidance around possible testing, follow-up options, or next steps unless I explicitly asked. Additionally, after an ultrasound confirmed a pregnancy loss, I was told the earliest available appointment for the necessary procedure was six days later, which felt unreasonable and I was forced to complete the procedure at an entirely different practice. I don't share this to place blame, but rather to help others make an informed decision. If you are someone seeking highly personalized, proactive care, especially after loss or if your pregnancy journey may not be straightforward, this may not be the best fit. For those with uncomplicated pregnancies who are comfortable with a more standardized approach, this practice may work well.

Please check Gina (Regina) Gerboth's license before hiring her…read more She didn't follow my birth plan- which including leaving my waters intact and transferring if there was meconium. She didn't know the position of my baby. She said he was LOA. Really, he was asynclitic posterior. She had me pushing for so long that my cervix was so swollen and when I transferred, I was 6 cm. They don't know if I got to 10 but I pushed for 3 hours at home. At home, I kept telling Gina something was wrong. All I wanted to do was be on my hands and knees. She kept wrapping a blanket around me and forcing me up to "engage the baby." When I told her I was going to pass out, she put on oxygen on me and left the room. She did not turn on the oxygen tank. When I told her I wanted to transfer to the hospital, she didn't take me to the facility in my birth plan. I later learned it was because she had just taken a client to that facility so she drove me farther to a different hospital. I felt such immense pain- I later learned it was because my bladder prolapsed from pushing for so long at home. Gina kept saying she could see the head, but I didn't feel it. It's because she was seeing my bladder, which the hospital instantly recognized. Getting my bladder moved to get a catheter was an agonizing process. I was GBS+. I was a primip. I was 42+1. I was only 6 cm. There was thick meconium. The baby was asynclitic posterior. I required an emergency c section for prolonged late decelerations. My baby had to be resuscitated. My care at the hospital was delayed. Why? Because Gina refused to transfer my records so I had to slowly, painstakingly tell my history between contractions with a prolapsed bladder. Since she refuses to transfer my records, I was drug tested and the baby was drug tested because it was as if I had just come off the street with no prenatal care to have a baby. I filed a complaint with the state. Gina was found guilty of negligence. She fled town and moved up to Denver. She changes practices every couple years.
