The Josephina Event Venue - Inside the barn

    The Josephina Event Venue

What a beautiful venue!…read more My sister got married here over the weekend. We were nervous about attending a wedding during COVID, but I was happy to see that the barn that is the main venue has great air flow with the doors and windows open. My sister kept the capacity down, so for the most part, people could spread out. Once I could relax a bit, I was able to really take everything in. The barn has large chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and lights strung around, which created such a fun atmosphere. There are also cabins to rent in stay in, as well as what my sister used as her bride's cabin to get ready, which had plenty of space and was steps from the main venue. Two parking lots also easily accommodated all the guests, and this was an easy drive off of the interstate. Saturday was such a special day, and Josephina had a big part to play in that.

The Josephina is a very cute venue. My husband and I attended a wedding and reception here…read morerecently. Consisting of two floors, with a main level and a loft area, the venue is, "not too big, not too small, but just right". On the main level there were tables (for the wedding party and guest), a buffet, a small bar and room enough to dance as well. The loft is were the happy couple decided to have their gift table, and more guest tables. The "backyard" was set up for the couple to say their I-do's. Scenic with rolling hills, a small cabin and bridge. Complete with wild turkeys wandering in the distance. It was very quaint. And very country. The only downfalls about this venue that I can speak of, would be that there are railroad tracks nearby, and it can be a little noisy. Also, if you don't live near Dry Ridge, Ky, this may not be a short drive for you. It took us 40 minutes to drive from our house to here, but, it is easy to get to though.

Difficult to make a long story short but I payed in full a year before when I booked, being told the gazebo in the back would be fully decorated for fall complete with mums ,pumpkins etc for the couple's final dance. My daughter talked of little else to cap off her night.I requested china service for dinner which apparently wasn't noted in the managers notes.approximately 5 hours before the event I was verifying china and was told no,it wasn't in her notes sorry. I replied sorry doesn't fix anything go ahead and set it up.no go. Additionally the bridal party was for 12 they set up for 8 ,when pointed out simply brought more chairs to an already crowded table to ends,my girls brought chairs for their table.my guests reported the limited beer selection was warm as well as the wine.they did not reserve a table for myself and father as requested so we arrived from church with no place to sit.The catering service cut 2/3 of the cake and left so I look over to family cutting cake.I brought this to the managers attention who said they only cut part of the cake?! ( the top was not to be reserved and already cut.) The outdoor gazebo had zero decorations even though I brought it up the day before.the bathroom door had broken locks which I discovered that night.Completed disappointed and would recommend somewhere that was operating as a business and not just a side hustle.clearly they had my money a year earlier and where uninterested in hiring appropriate event staff ,or in customer service.

A few hours before my wedding, we found out we weren't having China, and I found out while eating that we had STYROFOAM PLATES. My bridal party did not have enough seats, and my mom's table was not reserved! Guests were waiting for drinks since the manager was also the bartender who was arguing with my mom about why there weren't enough seats. THEN, while I was chatting with guests, I noticed mom and the manager by the cake table.. come to find out, she was again arguing with her, telling her she said we were responsible for plating and cutting the cake! Which we would have never agreed to. I was also looking forward to a final dance with beautiful lights and mums under the gazebo in the back, and that too was not set up. If you use them, keep your contract and have them sign off to what they agreed to!!! Yes, I am happily married now, but they dropped the ball on the most important details !!! more than one time on the most important night of my life!!!

Visiting the area and wanted to do a wine tasting. Called them up to see if there's any particulars…read moresuch as needing a reservation or if they only offered tastings at certain times of the day. There are none. You can stop by whenever you feel the need to taste some wine, tequila or bourbon Hannah, the manger, is so sweet. She reminds me of Joanna Gaines. She's one of those people you feel like you know and want to be around. Just a beauty inside and out. She was the only one there and had a few guests to help and she said she was having a bad day but you'd never know. She made my bf and I feel more than welcome and took care of us. We got a small charcuterie with nuts, meats and cheeses and added olives. The charcuterie was not what I was expecting from a winery. It was more of an adult lunchable than charcuterie. The cheese was like that precut Cracker Barrel cheese found in the store. I would have like to have had some freshly grated parmesan or mozzarella. Something that would pair well with the wines. I'm not a fan of Swiss. Love Colby jack and cheddar but those don't really go with the wines I had. I got a flight of white wines that are numbered in my 2nd picture. They were all pretty good but 1 & 4 were my favorites. I was able to taste a new wine slush they're offering. I chose the red wine slush over the white moscato one. I fell in love with it. I tried to get one to go but was unable to due to them not having approved to go containers for them My boyfriend got a flight of premium bourbon which he enjoyed. There are lots of cosy places inside and out to sit and sip your favorite drink. We did leave with a bottle of the # 4 wine I liked and garlic sausage though. I will definitely return for a slush!!
