Tom was always a no-B.S. person, so don't go there looking for counseling or emotional hand holding. He's there to win your case. He's not rude, but you have to be prepared to understand that you have hired a litigator, not a paper pusher who just writes wills and trusts and does real estate closings. He can do that too, but his strength is in functioning as more than a basic "I can do it cheap" lawyer. I found the consulting borderline arrogant and condescending. Their "representation" consisted of a great deal of effort and extensive billing but very little by way of positive results. The outcome of their legal assistance resulted in me being handed quite probably, the worst outcome imaginable during the temporary maintenance period. This order came from the judge's decision, negotiated in the back chambers without my knowledge and with no transparency. The lawyers (two of them) representing me in the "hearing" did not include the principal I met with on several occasions at their offices. They came out of the judges chamber with an order for me to sign. It was onerous and one-sided. What's worse, it was agreed by my lawyers without any consultation or discussion with their client (me). I should have protested and demanded to talk to the judge but they dissuaded me and assured me not to worry. They basically told me divorce is devastating financially. What!? Apparently, it is lucrative for some. At best, they were totally incompetent, at worst, they put me in a position to pay my way out of this terrible situation by surrendering all of my assets in the end- to guess who??? I promptly fired them and received a small fraction of my retainer back. They extensively billed me for a situation I probably could have navigated with a much better outcome on my own. I have never in my life paid so much (in more ways than one) for such a poor service. These people give lawyers a bad name. The lawyer I eventually retained vigorously represented me and demonstrated results for a fraction of what Tristano & Tristano charged. I could never and would never recommend this firm.
