I brought the car to Thunderbolt, and they check out the transmission and found it was not the problem. They found the problem was a bad wheel bearing, which was recently. I took the car back to the shop who originally replaced the bearing and had it fixed under warranty. Thunderbolt was very accommodating, and while they could have replaced the wheel bearing, they agreed I should take it back to the shop who originally replaced it. Their honesty and good advice is refreshing. I recommend Thinderbolt, and I expect they will take care of you, as they took great care of me!

About three years ago, Thunderbolt rebuilt the original engine in my 1971 Chevy Vega and did a great job. The original quote was for the standard items in any rebuild and it was clearly stated that after the tear down the price could go up if it was discovered that more work was needed to be done. I understood this and only a ignoramus would not. My price did go up because more was needed but it was perfectly legit. I used to own a body shop and had the same issue. You make your best guess on what is needed with a visual inspection but after the tear down in almost all cases more damage was discovered. The insurance adjusters knew this but the idiot customer would push back, like they are here.

As the previous long…read morereview states, Mason is a hands-on owner and is generally found out in the yard actively directing and supervising the work, rather than sitting in the office. He is knowledgeable, courteous and knows what he is doing. He is busy, but attentive to his customers and is quick to return a call. It is clear that he has been working in and around boats most of his life. His attention to detail and level of concern about the quality of work performed is refreshing. My boat needed fiberglass work after she was struck while tied to the dock. Mason prepared an estimate for the damages, communicated with the opposing insurance company to ensure they had the information they needed, arranged a spot for my boat (she is too wide to haul out at his slip), and he ensured the work was performed on-time and on-budget. In addition, I needed a water maker installed, and he made sure that was done on time and on budget as well. To make sure it was completed as promised, he came in on a Saturday and spent most of the day finishing the job himself after one of his crew had called in sick. I have nothing but good things to say about Mason. In addition to Mason, I want to make sure I mention Big Nick and Guillermo. Nick stayed after work to help get work done on the boat, showing his commitment to getting the job done and done well. Guillermo did the fiberglass work, and he is excellent at it. Like Mason, I have nothing but good things to say about Guillermo as well. I know Mason is committed to working with the boating community, and he is currently widening his haul out so he will be able to lift catamarans, which will make his yard the only place in Galveston Bay other than Port Bolivar that can haul out a cat like mine, which is just over 25 feet wide. When you call you speak directly to him. Yes I own a Gator Pit. I have owned it for a couple years now. I am 100 percent satisfied. Couldn't be happier. These pits are built 1 at a time, old school style. Hand made by skilled craftsmen with hand tools, welders and torches. The craftsmanship, fit and finish, and detail is 2nd to none. There are no compromises or cost cutting with these pits. Everything is heavy duty, thick steel, doors shut tight, oil field quality welds. If you take care of these pits your great, great grandchildren will be cooking on it. Just keep the rust away. That's it. Gator Pit got some bad reviews in the past couple weeks from a bandwagon of forum readers that don't own a gator pit, don't know anyone that does, nor have ever even corresponded with Gator Pit. That's a shame, and a shame that some people have so little integrity.
