So I have my leg amputated October 2024 and I was supposed to go to these people and I went and…read moreseen the doctor and I talked to her about getting a robotic knee so to save the insurance company money they gave me a regular micro processor knee. This is through Worker's Comp. and then I can't get this leg to work because I had clubfeet when I was born and they told me to get an email from the company that makes the knee that was sending me out the robotic name for a trial and then that way I could take it with me so I go ahead and I do this. I went in today, and I won't say anybody's name but one of the people there he's like well they don't wanna support you taking it out. They're gonna leave it on us and we don't support you taking it out, mind you they've already gotten probably $60,000 of the insurance over me already they act like I'm gonna steal the damn thing but I don't wanna pay $100,000 for something for the rest of my life when I need one until I get a test out of it, but the funny thing is they say well we don't care about the money. This is a capitalist country and if you don't care about money, what are you doing in business of selling such high-end prosthetic parts that's a joke. Everybody's at work for money, you don't go to work for fun. You get a check, so I want this knee go to physical therapy to try to learn how to walk on it and so 10 minutes goes by. I'm waiting for him. He took my prosthetic leg. Initially he was supposed to be going to install the robotic knee now I'm pissed at this moment because everything he said it was a lie. He could've said while the company might not allow us and then I wouldn't have gone through so much work to try to make sure that I can use this knee for set amount of time so I can learn how to walk with it before it's approved. He comes back in with the supervisor, he tells me you know what I don't think you're gonna work out here with us because he lied to me. He told me to get this information. I got it for him and he's like you know I don't think it's gonna work out because you want me to let you take this knee out and we're not gonna ensure whatever the word they use I can't think of it. I'm like You don't expect me to be pissed off about that so I wouldn't recommend that people don't go there and then also they gave me liners that break my leg out every time I wear it because I'm allergic to it and they refused to give it to me the new ones even though they ordered it all and I'm sure they're gonna charge the insurance company. They refuse to give it to me. They refuse to do anything, they refuse to give me the information on logging in to make adjustments to my current knee because they have it in a locked position so the micro processor inside there has it locked is not the manual lock so as I walk, the knee doesn't bend and they refuse to give me the login information so I have no way to make it to where I can walk properly and this is what I guess they wanted the whole time because I had another guy in there and he was quite a character he never listened to anything. I told him it's like when I would sit there and tell him what's going on my wife would have to talk louder and get his attention so he could pay attention to what I was actually saying and then he understood but he still didn't process it and I'm not saying anything bad about anybody. I'm just saying the fact is that there are people in there that don't listen to you there's one guy but he's a supervisor who listens very well. He's a nice person. The other people I thought they were good people, but you know you can only be right about so many things, but I can show photos of how bad my leg blisters every time I wear my prosthetic leg and they know I can't get in to see anybody right away, so I would recommend you stay as far away from this place as possible because it could be bad for you. You may have the same problem I have and I don't want that to happen to anybody, especially when you lose your leg you've lost so much already and then they make it so much worse when they treat you like crap.

She takes one customer at a time to make sure they get every they need. I was referred to her by the doctors at Woods Mill Orthopedics when I was diagnosed with a tear in my fascia. The doctor gave me a boot to wear which would allow me to walk without pain. When I met with Mary, she gave me what I really needed which was support for my feet, knowledge to prevent further injury, and a good plan for healing in the shortest time possible. She told me what shoes I needed for balance and support. I felt immediate relief and was able to go on vacation and heal while she worked on making custom orthotics for me. By the end of the vacation, I was walking with little to no pain and my foot was healing nicely. Mary then helped me find the right shoe and added the custom insert. There was no adjustment period required, I simply put on the shoes and started wearing them. I had tried other inserts in the past and they felt like I had a rock under my foot. Not this one, it was comfortable and it gave me the support needed to protect my feet. I play tennis four to six times a week and I realize now that the injury happened because I didn't have appropriate foot wear. I was released today, less than five weeks from the injury, to start hitting again. If you are a tennis player, have planter facetious or foot pain of any kind, I would recommend Mary at sole control. Mary will take her time with you, she provides a great service, and I will be grateful to her forever for getting me back on my feet. Anyone that talks negative about Mary has not taken the time to get to know her and has not given her an opportunity to what she does best. Highly, Highly recommended! Tom

Before my first surgery I felt like I was 99 years old and 5 months after I was hiking 7 and 8 miles at Yellowstone park. I can't believe I'd ever have come this far so fast. I had Mike Schmidt as my PT and I can not say enough good things about him. He was honest about everything I needed to do and he got me to my goals. Everyone who works there are fantastic from the front desk to the other therapists. They made my insurance company and my work requested paperwork go easy for me. I honestly couldn't have asked for anything to have gone any better.

Due to unrelated health emergencies, my surgery was postponed 5 months and the entire Edwardsville, IL was simply amazing in working with me the entire time. That is, until day of surgery. Doctor arrived half hour late and was a bit giddy as she spoke. I remember the nurses commenting on her happy, yet odd behavior she had that day. Once out of surgery we were told no repair was required to the ligaments so the surgery ended much sooner than anticipated. Had a bunionectomy, with osteotomy and metatarsal pain underneath (ball of foot). 2nd toe was crossed over the big toe as a result of dislocating the 2nd toe months earlier. First time I physically saw my food post-op I was horrified!! Big toe was straight but 2nd toe looked like it had been cut completely off then sewn back in last minute as an afterthought. The skin and surgical scar under the 2nd toe was stretched and came to rest under the 3rd toe! Mind you, she was only to have opened, shortened, and pinned 1st and 2nd toe. Ball of foot pressure was not addressed in surgery either. As I healed, nothing got better and my foot didnt look "real". After fully healing (and being a patient near 18mos) I called to speak with another surgeon, in the same company, in another state. I was denied, being told I was sent to Collections for approx $245.00 I asked for details and the girl on the phone rattled off a dozen or more 'unpaid' charges - of course none anyone ever presented to me at any point during my 18mos of office visits!!! She said, well theres a charge [medical code name given] for $9.33, another for $14, on and on, with the final charge mentioned being for my very first visit! $50 from near TWO YEARS EARLIER!!! Seems patients are reeled in with kindness, but once surgery is over, follow-ups are quick, concerns go unheard, then add false bill is sent to collections to prevent you from returning with complaints or for any revisions!! WISH I KNEW NOW WHAT I DIDNT KNOW THEN!!

I then tried a pair of these high quality yet inexpensive heel lifts and my relief from pain lessened more in one week than during the previous two months of physical therapy. And best of all, my limp disappeared and I was able to play first base again on my softball team. These were very easily sized for my feet and I simply placed the heel inserts under the insoles of my shoes, sneakers or softball spikes. It takes about one minute to transfer the inserts from my dress shoes to my sneakers etc. or vice versa. These heel lifts allowed my injured Achilles tendon to essentially rest, even while I was standing or walking or exercising or limping and while it was resting, it was healing.....until.....I didn't have to limp anymore! I wish my orthopedic doctor had recommended this simple step two months prior to my finding it on my own.

From the first time meeting Romel he listened for over an hour about my past experiences and asked me what I was looking for. I'm a very active person and was being held back by my previous 2 prosthetic legs. I couldn't wear them for more than 5-6 hours a day. My activity level was severely impacted causing me to doubt if I would ever become able to do all the things I loved and enjoyed. At the time I didn't have much hope. Romel said he had no doubt that he could help build a socket system and also said with my activity level that I would qualify for a computer knee to also get me moving in the right direction. We tried many types of ways to stay in the socket such as a suction system which I had previously had and didn't work. He also had residents that joined in my care. The pin system was the last system we tried to keep me in the socket. I am a very talkative person but when I donned my prosthetic leg using the pin system for the first time I couldn't talk knowing if I had tried to talk I would have been reduced to tears. This was the "epitome" of the "aha moment" in my new normal. I had definitely found my "dream team"! I had the privilege to work with an amazing prosthetist and while I am sad to see him go, I am extremely excited for him as he begins this new chapter in his life. I am very blessed to have had him as my prosthetist. He will do anything to fit you with the best prosthetic device and if I could I would keep going to him. You will never be disappointed with the care he provides. If you have an issue with your prosthetic he makes time to see you as soon as possible knowing that you will not be able to wear your prosthetic until the issue is fixed. If you are looking to interview a new prosthetist he is the one you want in charge of your prosthetic. My favorite quote from him to me is "if there is a problem with your prosthetic, it's not your problem it's mine". He is new in the St. Louis area but he has many years of experience in prosthetics. I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for an amazing prosthetist. Kim M.
