I came in on a weekday at lunchtime and there was only one person working the front office; there were a lot of people in line to be checked in. Don't get me wrong, the office assistant was delightful and was doing everything in her power to get folks in. But in the 20 minutes I waited to check in, about 6 people left due to the wait time. Luckily, I had an appointment and was seen soon after I checked in. The nurse was a little abrasive, but I can empathize that it was a stressful day for them. If you're looking for quality care, PLEASE go anywhere else. Nobody from the nurse practitioner to the receptionist cares about providing good service to their patients. After waiting for over an hour (there was 1 patient ahead of me), I was telling the NP my symptoms, the first sentence out of her mouth is "what are you hoping to achieve with this?" YOURE the professional here, you'd think theyd be able to handle stomach issues. On top of that, I heard the Nurse Practitioner yelling out my full name to their coworker in the lobby, and what I was experiencing which is a complete HIPPA violation. After seeing the NP pull up google to research my symptoms, I just left because of the complete disrespect and incompetence of everyone who works here. read more

The office was clean, the front desk receptionist was kind and charismatic, and the physician saw me quickly and helped resolve my issue just as fast. This was the worst experience I've ever had in a Doctor's office. First, the head doctor came out and told me he could get a prescription filled for me, for a specific medication, but that they would need to intake me, and that they would charge my insurance. OK, whatever. I did it. Once I got through intake, and get all my vitals read, a Nurse Practitioner comes in and says, "we can't prescribe the medication you need here." So, I get up and walk out. Suddenly, she burst through the doors and shouts, call 911, he's going to harm himself or others. We need to detain him. I stop in shock, "That's a lie. That's a complete fabrication. What is wrong with you?" The nurses look shocked cause they don't understand what's going on. Finally, some administrator named Caroline comes out and apologizes to me. So, what did I experience? Insurance fraud and they wanted to admit me to Emergency to get more money from the insurance company? Don't go there. Its the last mistake you'll make. Do not EVER go here. I went and was informed that a flu test and COVID test would be free and covered my insurance and they charged me anyway. I called them and they assured me it was an error, and they said they had escalated it up to regional management to resolve the charge on my account. I'm now receiving a letter almost a FULL YEAR later for a completely different charge amount and it's marked as urgent. Never ever go here unless you want to be billed behind your back and told different amounts by the staff who work there. Absolutely ridiculous and there was 0 accountability. read more

The MedExpress on Seminole Trail is the absolute worst place to go if you need to see a doctor or a PA. They could say they're short staffed, but there were three people upfront that were totally useless. I was told to come back on today's date but I didn't schedule a time and they allowed people with scheduled times to be seen first. Do yourself a favor and go to the MedExpress at and they are a lot more efficient and know what they're doing. read more

Gotta give this place a great review. Made an appointment and went in for covid testing before our trip to New England. All was done at our car. We definitely had the "A Team" for service. Extremely efficient and friendly. We got our results as promised between 2-3 days. A bit pricey at $225- but peace of mind and speedy results were worth it! Highly recommended!! read more

I went here after reading lots of reviews and seeing no other option. Good news, my experience was fine. I was in and out in just under one hour, there were 11 people in front of me upon arrival. The initial staff greeting was pleasant. One down note, you must sign three forms in the beginning without being able to have a readable copy first. The copy on the counter is horribly scratched and unreadable. Once I was checked in my experience improved greatly. My vitals were taken by Mike, it was new to the organization, but quite proficient and explanatory. He took history as well. From there I was transferred to a room, and the doctor came after just a few minutes. He did a very typical visit, asking questions listening, and providing his diagnosis and explanation. He provided appropriate prescriptions, explained them and what they were for, answered questions, walked me to the entrance, asked for any additional questions, and give me plenty of opportunity to have a conversation about my health & experience there. I went to This MedExpress thinking everything would be fine easy and quick however, to be attended it took an hour which is understandable due to the amount of patients at the time. Next came the doctor who was just your average nice elderly doctor 10/10 and prescribed me the medication needed to treat my case of poison ivy. There I am in the parking lot waiting for a nurse or a doctor to give me my paper prescription or any type of update on what would proceed afterwards. Can you guess how long it took? Just one more hour nothing TOO long. I also must mention that I had to call to ask for an update on what would be the next procedure.... Here I am the next day at the pharmacy I requested my medication to be picked up at and I ask the pharmacist about my medication and she searches my name but wait there's more! MedExpress never sent the prescription request to the pharmacy ! Props to MedExpress for letting my rash spread more !! Incompetence. Absolute incompetence. I understand that they are busy due to COVID. There's plenty of excuses as to why the wait times are so long. But I am here for a drug screening. It takes less than 5 minutes for me to do the paperwork and less than 45 seconds to pee in a cup. You would think they would be able to handle this, but it took me three weeks of attempting to obtain a drug screening. Mostly because the person who is dedicated to performing the drug screens was only present at this location maybe twice per week. And they only came in after 10pm. The company I am employed by has a contract with Med Express. They were obviously unable to fulfill their contract of performing a drug screen within 48 hours multiple times. After asking my new employer to renew my "passport" multiple times I was finally able to catch a break. I was told to arrive before 11pm. I arrived and I sat in my car for over 2 hours. If this company ever decides to claim it cares about the environment, just remember that a parking lot packed full of people were running their vehicles' AC so they wouldn't fry in the heat. Hundreds of gallons of gas wasted because this company cannot keep itself staffed. Anyway, after waiting over 2 hours I was called in. Unless everyone was on lunch, the place was not busy at all. Nearly empty. That explains why I only saw 6 people come in and out while I waited over 2 hours. As expected, the test took less than 10 minutes. I vowed to never visit a Med Express after my COVID test last year. (A 15 minute test that took 3.5 hours. I was the third person in line.) But this time I was forced to come here and I was still disappointed. I feel like I need to bill them for all of my time and gas wasted. If they cannot fulfill their own contract, they should stop offering such services. COVID was no excuse for this kind of incompetence. read more

A couple of folks have mentioned this already on the page, but the Covid testing process at this MedExpress is embarrassingly inefficient. Parking lot full of cars repeatedly dialing the same busy phone number to get a reservation onsite for covid tests, rather than implementing a "Take a number" ticker, a reservation system, or having an attendant with a clipboard outside. A patient who shows up and gets through on first try could easily best someone who has been waiting for hour, dialing in 50 times. We are in the middle of a global pandemic which has been raging for months. This part is hardly rocket science. Hell, after 10 minutes of this incompetence, I was about to create a system myself. Here's hoping their testing itself is more sound. Sadly they are among the only games in town for testing, which is a travesty. I will add that once inside, the process was very efficient and the clinicians friendly and thoughtful. I am disheartened that the experience getting there was so maddening and noting that I saw scores of folks leave the parking lot without being tested in frustration from this bizarre system. read more

After reading other reviews I'm not even surprised from my experience. When your sick you want to go somewhere warm and welcoming and be treated. The front office staff belittled me and 3 other patients in the time I observed sitting in the waiting area. Their registration process is not clear nor do they want to explain it. I think all staff here needs to take a step back, remember when you were sick & how you wanted to be treated. These individuals also need to understand just because you see the registration process all day everyday doesn't mean it's self explanatory & there is NO reason to belittle people. Took my husband there for what turned out to be kidney stones and encountered the most inept treatment and rude front desk staff. The entire experience from the beginning: trying to call in from the parking lot to register, aggressively being told I wasn't allowed in the building after being on hold for seven minutes trying to get help and just walking in, which is stated on their sign, the PA coming outside trying to send us away, lack of care inside. I realize we are in a pandemic, but if you can't handle the usual emergencies, just close. read more

I came in from out of town and became progressively more sick over the course of the day. I drove about 40 minutes to get here. I tried to call on my way but there was no way to connect to the location, it only referred you to the website. I did however make sure they took walk-ins. When I got there it felt like I was swallowing shards of glass and I was shivering despite the warm temperature. I was relieved when I walked in because there was nobody waiting. I went to the desk and was promptly told they were booked for the day, despite the giant sign in front of the door stating they take walk ins. I again explained how poorly I felt and stated that both the website and sign in front of the door state they take walk ins. She again informed me that they had reached their capacity for the day. I asked if she knew of any other urgent cares in the area that would be open past 8 PM as it was getting closer to that. She told me that the other location in Charlottesville had also reached its capacity for the day, but she could put me in for 8 o'clock the next morning. I explained to her that based on the way I felt I didn't feel comfortable waiting that long to have medical attention, and I was also in from out of town and had to borrow someone's car to even get there that evening. She said she was sorry, and there was nothing that she could do for me, but I could go down the block to Martha Jefferson emergency room. I have never in my life heard of an urgent care having a threshold of patients that they reach, especially when there is nobody waiting, and refuse to provide care. I did end up going to the emergency room because of how poorly I felt. My temperature was 102.8 when I got there, and I tested positive for strep throat, as I thought I would. I will now have to pay probably four times the amount, if not more, what it would've cost me to go to urgent care. Since I'm not from the area, I don't know how many options there are, but this place would certainly be last on my list! read more

Fine treatment from start to finish. On the Sunday afternoon of a long weekend there was a long wait, but it was worth it.

From a medical perspective, I had a great experience. The staff was wonderful. However, the billing practices are of concern. Even with an excellent medical insurance plan, expect to pay a total of $200 for the visit. Your co-pay, plus a fee that will arrive a month after. This is without lab work or an x-Ray. I read the review of someone else and though maybe they didn't do something right. Well, here I am -$200 later. Don't be me. Find somewhere else if you cannot afford $200 (or possibly more) w/ an insurance plan. Wait a couple of hours and then go somewhere else. June 2017: I did not receive an updated bill. Avoid this place and those with similar names. It is not affordable. When places pull this crap, we need to get together and stop it. If this was crowdsourcing to pay for others that don't have insurance, fine. Just tell me so I can write it off. But they did not do this. This place was in network for me. Do. Not. Go. read more

Was seen at Medexpress on 25 March 2023 and wasn't pleased with their service!! The physician that saw me wasn't pleasant at all and her attitude wasn't the best!! I didn't like that I had to give them my debit card info incase there was a balance. Two months later I got a text from them stating they were going to charge my card for $240. I was very angry because I had already paid the balance due. I had to call my insurance to get this cleared up and so they wouldn't charge my card. My insurance company had reached out to them for more information about my claim and they didn't respond. They decided they would charge my card for the $240. Not so because my insurance company called Medexpress and got this problem fixed. My insurance company let me know that I had a zero balance and my card would not be charged. I finally got notification from Medexpress that I had a zero balance and my card wouldn't be charged!! I will NEVER use Medexpress again!! I will go to the ER first!! I don't recommend Medexpress!! I waited 40 minutes on the phone to be scheduled for Covid test and an hour to be called to come in. The doctor seemed very tired but still was kind. The front lady was absolutely horrible. I let her know that I have appointment but she didn't even check and told me to 'call the number on the door to scheduled the Covid test' repeatedly.
