Mediacom is trash. My internet has been in a out for 4 days and I work from and they are telling me that that can't get anyone out here until week ans half later. I'm am beyond pissed and could loose my job because of the internet issues. I pay too much money for this to be happening and I upgraded my internet and still same issue. This company is a JOKE! I signed up for service at the end of May, and have had three separate appointments set, that were complete no shows. I had my monthly EFT set up, and then found out that the first time they needed $185 to get started. So, they wouldn't just take the electronic payment, I had to set another payment. I had a second appointment set, that I was never even informed of. Now, I have my third appointment set, and in my email, it looked like there was another bill for $100. I was hoping it was just my monthly service and everything would be fine, my appointment was the following day. No one showed up, for the third appointment. The next day, I finally get a call, apparently my address is not in their service area! They have had information since May 25th, they have $185 to get started, they have my electronic payment set up, and now on June 22nd they tell me that my address cannot be serviced. They wanted me to drive to Benton to return their equipment, or mail it - both at my cost, and I said no. So they are sending a tech to come pick it up, but they cannot give me an exact day or time. And they will not begin to process my refund until they get the equipment. I was told the soonest they could begin to process the refund would be June 30th, in the form of a paper check - so being generous I could have it by 7/7. Now, I will have to pay another cable company, while I'm waiting on my refund, not to mention, the almost $5 a day I have been posting for extra hot spot data. Completely, unprofessional! I was told the only way to receive my refund more quickly was to dispute the charge with my bank... This has been incredibly inconvenient, expensive and frustrating. Worst Internet Service Provider in the country!!! The connection is slow. Goes out in the rain. Buffers a lot. Could b the age of my house??? Call them and u r granted w a robocall so that proves they do not want to talk 2 customers. I'm lucky to know a thing or two about computers so I'm able to fix most issues without their help. Even when I need it... usually able to do things, their technicians cannot. Because they r hiring immatures who don't even know the meaning of DSL!!! Don't use mediacom if u can find better. Oh yeah 4got to mention they r over priced and keep increasing the prices anyway (almost 200USD for TV and Internet)! They do not care about customers at all or they would be hiring professionals w degrees who know what they r doing. read more

Very poor service and clerk argued with me on my id info which was wrong in their system. They take advantage of senior citizens and try to cause unnecessary trouble. Plans are always changing resulting in additional charges. Clerk hungup on the line after arguing about my ssn...Unacceptable! read more

The mediacom boxes are junk. In the last year we have had to trade in there cable box 9 times. We are always having problems with service. And there customer service sucks ass. I'm always nice and deal with problems for a long time before I reach my point. But after We didn't have any signal for over a week I am beyond my point. Then they won't lower bill or do anything knowing We only had cable for less than 3/4 of that month. Mediacom is by far the worst cable company in my area. they day i'm no longer forced to have mediacom (if I want cable in this area ) will be the happiest day of my life!!! I turned off my cable while I went home for the summer and when I returned (2months later) the same cable and internet was $20.00 more. when the guy hooked up my internet he messed up my mac bad!!!! He had no clue how to use my computer and was pushing all kind of things and getting upset with my $$$ computer in his hands. He also disconnected my cable for some reason!!! The company told me it would take them 4 days to get someone out to fix it. THIS IS NOT OK AT ALL!!!! The customer service rep was not even nice about the situation. I have Mediacom. I've had it for more than 5 years. Their internet has never been stable. Once, back in 2015, I had to call for over a month before someone would actually service the wires, rather than blame my modem. Behold! A fried squirrel. Anyway, today I called, because hell hath no fury like a toddler denied her streaming services. Mediacom insists that there is no maintenance happening in my area. However, a Mediacom truck has been working on the transformer and lines in front of my house for three hours. Seriously. This company didn't show up to install services for a new customer. I had scheduled an appointment and like most cable companies they set up a range from 1-5 in the afternoon to show up. No problem until they didn't call to say they wouldn't make it in the allotted time and when called at 5 to 5 p.m. they stated the man was running late and wouldn't make it until 7:05 to 7:35 p.m. I received an automated call at 7:00 that didn't make much sense (recording saying it was mediacom calling to verify the call I was expecting) other to indicate that mediacom actually called us which 20 minutes later the tech would show up. At 8:10 I called and the person answering the phone said I would need to talk to cancellations in order to cancel the request for service. I stated I didn't actually have an account to cancel and they needed to cancel their guy and they said I needed to still talk to cancellations so they transferred me....to a queue that stated it was not active and to call back in business hours, then hung up on me. This is how they treat new customers imagine how they treat you after they get your money.....No thanks. I would go lower than 1 star if I could I have wasted most of a day waiting on these guys to show up. I am fuming. read more

The customer service is terrible!!! I was told over the phone my monthly bill would be $59.98 after taxes and there would be no instillation fee. A few days later I got an email saying my next three payments would be $132.00, $122.00 and $122.00. My monthly bill would be $87.75 after those three payments. When I called in they said the instillation fee was split into three. I asked to speak with a supervisor, hoping he/she would resolve this issue. I waited on hold for 35 minuets and when he finally picked up I CALMLY addressed my concerns. He instantly had an attitude!!! You would think a supervisor would be instantly apologetic for his agents terrible customer service. All calls are recorded, he could have easily listened to the conversation of me and this agent but instead he made the situation worse!! He started raising his voice and speaking over me. That behavior is inappropriate in the work place. A monkey could do his job better! Obviously the internet service providers are limited in IL. I recommend finding another ISP! read more

We have had a very difficult time trying to get service to our home. It seems like no one is in charge at Mediacom. We have gotten the run around for a year or so. We began to pursue installation more earnestly 2 months ago. And recently, one woman seemed to care enough to look up our situation and said she would inform all the technicians they contract with, so that they too would know that our house IS "serviceable". The main guy, (their construction specialist, I think) had come out and spoken to my husband the week before and said yes, it can be done and that he would make sure it would be viewed now as "serviceable". No one ever came. The local store has no phone line, they say, so convenient for THEM, you have to go inside their location to voice a complaint. We complained again and set up, I believe, our 6th technician to come out to determine serviceability or to install the cable!! I called their 855 area code automated number, finally got a live person and he said that someone came out to our home at 8 am this morning and said it was "unserviceable", citing the same reason given the other 4 times that the answer was no...it's over 1500 feet. ( If we were not told that a heavier cable can be used and the distance would not a problem. If Albert, their construction guy hadn't told us he could rewire it, then we would believe it just can't be done.) Did they really come? I never saw or heard anyone here. I complained to the operator who seemed indifferent and not feeling responsible for my problem.And that's part of the problem...no one takes ownership of the on-going problem of poor communication. I told my husband, they must be getting a good laugh at us coming back in over and over again OR there is literally no one in charge there and no communication!!! I give up! read more

I always here this company has horrible customer service but I never had any problems. the internet was stable if a tad slow and the people were always helpful. I didn't like how the price went up after the first year but it's not like they didn't warn me of it. I'm seriously not sure how it has such low reviews. Maybe I was just lucky. read more

Mediacom is the WORST cable/internet provider I have ever had! We have had them for 2 yrs. (Not many options in the area that work with Xbox live) and in that 2 yrs our service has only worked about 1/3 of the time! We have been through 6 modems and some months we have had a tech at our house once, sometimes twice a week! We are on a first name basis with most of the techs, lin workers and some of the supervisors. I despise this company! If there were another cable provider in the area or if we didn't have Xbox live, I would definitely switch!!! read more

If there were to be a internet provider in hell it would be mediacom. The amount of times my internet has crashed because of this sad excuse for an internet provider is infinite. I have been able to log all 10,000 steps for the day on my Fitbit from getting up and having to walk to the router to reset it. My roommates have called and tried to work with mediacom to have them come and "fix" the router and our shitty connection, but unfortunately nothing has worked. When they say they're coming to fix the connection it means they're sitting on their ass doing absolutely nothing because THE CONNECTION IS STILL NON EXISTENT. The day mediacom no longer exists will be a great one. I recommend that no one use mediacom because you will be more disappointed with them than getting turned down from the job you've always wanted. I am telling you, mediacom is the worst of the worst and you will hate your life if you ever sign up with them. read more

NO STARS: By far the worst internet provider I have ever come to use. Luckily for them, they have monopolized my town and there are no other high speed internet providers. Because I was having such poor service in all aspects (Internet quality, Customer Service, etc.), I went to their facebook page and voiced my opinion. They ended up blocking me from being able to post anything else on their facebook. Wow. Every time I contact them, I end up in an argument with a representative. And working at a call center myself for another company as a manager just blows me away how their representatives treat their customers. They lie, argue, and are very rude with their customers. I would NOT get this service unless it is the only provider in your area... however, do that at your own risk. I was lied to about my contract. I specifically asked if I was going to be grandfathered into an unlimited data usage plan with them and told yes. Halfway through my contract, I was put on a cap and get billed every time I go over their cap that was forced onto me. Forget Mediacom. They suck. Do not get this service unless absolutely necessary. Not to mention the rising monthly prices without your knowledge. Completely awful experience. I do not recommend this joke of a business for anyone. read more
