The waterslide is really fun. I wish that the jacuzzi had been warmed up but when I went in the water was lukewarm. Rooms aren't anything special but they're decent. Good restaurant, nice casino. They have a spa aswell. Things do close a bit early here though. Overall a good experience. read more

After standing line at the desk for 10 Minutes the clerk said our room wasn't ready till 4pm.... It was 3:45 at that time.... Geezus and no smiles from the desk clerks or offer to keep our bags. So we sat in the non air conditioned lobby waiting for our room to be ready. We went here for our one year wedding anniversary. It's definitely a little dated, maybe more 70s style, but we enjoyed our stay. I love the idea of making a resort like hotel in a place like Medicine Hat where there's not much else to do. If it wasn't resort like, we probably would've done Edmonton. They have a pool with water slides, (pools were a little small though), spa, casino, sometimes live entertainment if I saw that correctly, and two restaurants on the resort. There's also some cheaper chain restaurants across the street if you wanna be a little more frugal. There's the mall across the street too which is convenient. We got the romantic get away package which included a room with a jacuzzi, two TVs, chocolate strawberries and wine (which we decided to pass on as we're not big drinkers), and a $75 voucher for the steak restaurant on the resort. That was a particularly nice addition as we'd normally do the more frugal option. My husband said it was the best steak he's had in years, which is really saying something as he's kind of particular with his food. Baked potatoes were a little disappointing, not too loaded. We'd definitely come here again! PS: They did a good job keeping everything covid safe. Hand sanitizer everywhere, plexi glass, and the pool was closed for cleaning several times a day, and you had to book a time to swim to prevent crowding. read more

Stayed 3 nights. This hotel has had no money put into it, it is getting more and more run down. My last night cost 189. my rooms air conditioner/ heating unit had a piece of green tape on it saying it had to stay in the on position, was unable to turn off. The last time I stayed there, the same thing happened. This is definitely not worth the price of the room. This was my go to hotel whenever I am in the Hat. Never again, I am done. read more

The Medicine Hat Lodge may be the best place to stay in the Hat. It's not the Hilton, but it's pretty darn nice. It has clean, comfortable rooms, friendly and helpful staff, a spacious lobby, an inside water park (big in Canada), and nice eating choices. It's just off the Trans Canada Highway (on the east side of town) and is also close (walking distance) to various restaurants (including an Earls and a Tim Hortons), Sports Bar (especially around Stanley Cup Playoff time) and shopping (including the mall and Canadian Tire) choices. And if you drive down the road a bit, here's what else is in Medicine Hat: Alberta's 3rd Largest Stampede/Rodeo, Medalta Pottery, Saamis Teepee (world's largest Teepee), and a neat 65 km. trail system at the 2000 acre River Valley Park System. And Cypress Hills is only an hours drive away! read more

The first thing I noted when I walked into this hotel is how bad a vacuuming this place needed. And this extended throughout all of the hotel. I can forgive the institutional looking exterior but the interior for me anyways, has to be clean! The staff were friendly enough at the front desk but since when is there an up-charge for a room that has an extra person totaling 2 persons in it? Is a hotel occupancy not based on 2 people? I do not even eat breakfast so if this is about having a coupon for a "free morning meal" they can have it back! My 2 certificates actually did go unused... We opted to pay for an upgrade to the 4th floor since we were spending a few days here and wanted the jetted tub as I knew from other reviews I would not be using the pool here, nor the hot tub in 1st level common area (too messy and noisy). Our first room was not cleaned properly so we had to move down the hall. The night tables and other surfaces had not even been wiped down in room #1! Crumbs and multiple water rings from glasses etc were visible - gross! The 2nd room we found more acceptable cleanliness-wise but my eyes were burning from chlorine coming up from the vents, no joke and the air vent/air conditioner was making SO much noise I could barely hear our TV. (the TV is a nice size by the way!) TIP - if staying here and you want a quieter room, make sure to get one facing the outside and not the pool. There is a funky smell to the room in general so thankfully, I brought a candle. I did not want to walk in my bare feet on the carpets (bring flip flops) This hotel is what it is and there may be better options out there for people coming to MH and being informed is a good thing! I was initially happy to find out that I was staying in "the nicest hotel in Medicine Hat" according to the net but my husband had been eying the Holiday Inn Express from our window across the highway and wished his company had booked us there! His coworkers on site said the same thing! Maybe next time! I did survive 3 days here! (Other tips - The Spa appears very nice, the casino is OK, small if you are into that but don't assume there is drink service during the day. There is a gift shop on site and a small hair salon. AND a liquor store. There is a Mall across the street and many restaurants nearby including Tims for coffee as the coffee provided in the room was not so good. Another plus - the tub in the room - roomy and quite deep! Shower pressure was good and there was ample hot water. Free internet in rooms!) DO NOT dine at the M Grill steakhouse at the hotel. so it started off as a normal day went out for breakfast and as we come back we are greeted by hotel staff who then told me I would greatly charged for room cleaning and told us to leave yet the room was not in poor condition we then packed up our stuff and collected our garbage as we go to check out they inform us they called the police on us so as for the lodge I do not trust them or tolerate them due to the fact my room had my do not disturb sign out on the door.... read more

VERY UNIMPRESSED. First of all, let me say I travel a lot for work and when I do I don't concern myself with loyalty points cards and the like. I know I'm missing out. Instead I look at what amenities the accommodation has to offer and a big factor in my decision making process is the availability of on-site food and drink. After a long day of work I don't want to go out and find a meal. Hence, my selection of the medicine hat lodge on this current trip. I was here back in September and had a great stay but a lousy dining experience at the on-site pub. This is not a busy place on a Monday service was horrible by my waitress. Fifteen minutes before my meal order was taken, and although my first beer was empty by then no ask if I would like another. You guessed it. Another ten minutes before that order went in. Server could care less. More interested in chatting with the locals. Needless to say I did something that I have never done before. Left without a top. Now, here I sit three months later. The same waitress is here and took my initial drink order but clearly has handed me off to another off the other servers. Three in total again tonight and a total of four tables needing service. Things should be better right? NOT A CHANCE. I ordered hot wings which were excellent but half way through I found myself having finished my first beer and still having yet to be checked up on by this new server. Once again fifteen minutes later I'm visible to them. After asking me if I would like another beer she tries to take away my half eaten order of wings. I inform her I would like to finish my wings with my next beer. Clearly she catches my message and apologizes. Cold wings and cold beer. Another poor showing at the medicine hat lodge pub.. I guess there is something to be said for the loyalty rewards programs at other hotels after all. Sorry medicine hat lodge, looks like my next stay will be across the street at the holiday inn. This hotel is perfect for families. Although the building is quite old, the rooms were modest and clean. The water slide is a HUGE bonus if you have kids as it provides a lot of free entertainment. The complimentary breakfast was very good with a ton of options. We chose the 'stay and play' hotel package which included a $20 voucher for the Casino which is located in the hotel. The casino was great and not at all what I was expecting, and we actually won some money! read more

was excited to go this hotel ( wanted to for a long time) the drive was good up no hot tub :( very disappointed ..... and sad to hear that its been out of service for a long time and not repaired ;( , poor owner ship of the Hotel we had not heat in our room and the maintenance made a appearance the Friday night and we thought it was fixed and again Saturday no heat and maintenance returned again and realized the compressor was broken and needed more work to get it to work ( late at night when in room) offered to move us ( but had kid in the room that would not have excepted the change) so we stayed and they gave us a portable heater that helped and a discount on the room the food at breakfast , gross does not describe it ..cold pancakes / greasy sausages/ cold eggs / hash browns - okay / ran out of food and no peanut butter to be had on Saturday morning , Sunday morning (breakfast over at 9:00 am instead of 9:30 ( no poster or mentioned by hotel staff this was going to happen ) Monday - cold food and slow to provide then cold pancakes :( also on Sunday a server at the restaurant was rude to my daughter when she was trying to get a bowl and a glass of milk to feed her son ( needs gluten free food) we had cereal and she grabbed the milk in front of my daughter and said she could not give her milk and walked away ... hungry kid .. and again Monday ,,,, poor service for the breakfast.... truthfully the worst continental breakfast I have ever had ( again poor ownership and management. Lots of garbage around the hotel ...... I stayed there in July. And my ID was accidentally left in the room and they called me after a few days and let me know it was there. It is now January and I still haven't gotten my ID back. They have lost it and won't even pay for me to get a new one. Their manager for lost and found is pathetic, he apologized and said there's nothing that can be done. read more

So run down and dingy. I cannot believe what they charge for the rooms here. The only reason I'm giving as high as a 2/5 is the pool keep the kids entertained. The flooring looks dirty enough to have its own ecosystem. The Drop ceiling tiles in the bathroom are stained and disgusting. The bed sheets don't even reach around the crappy springy mattresses. The wall outlets are so old you can't even plug your phone in because the plug falls out. They 'fixed' the dresser wear by repainting the top a with a sad coat of paint. I could go on but I'm sure you get the idea. Don't stay here unless you get a really good discount and plan to utilize the pool area. read more

Very nice hotel with all the amenities one would desire. Pool? Check. Restaurant? Check. Bar? Check. Liquor store? Check. Casino? Check. Hair salon? Check. What else do you need! The rooms are nice and large although the one I had did not have a fridge or a microwave (great for quick breakfasts). We stay between here and Holiday Express when in town visiting my family. It was nice at Christmas because it was pretty desolate. However, parking lot became very full right after. The decore is dating in the lobby with all it's brick and that early 80s look. I was sad their Adult hottub was shut down because of some vandal and I had to sit with kids. It was also an outdoor hot tub before. The room was an upgrade with jacuzzi. It ages fast since we last had it 2 years ago in their new section. The complimentary breakfasts were great. Yummy Waffles with berries! This one beats the Holiday Inn express breakfast by far. However no complimentary OJ which is a bit cheap. They don't have many discount programs when I asked. I will come back and stay with them in this time warp of 1980. read more

Rooms are disgusting, hallways stink like sewage, front desk staff are rude, I talked to front desk manager Andy he was nothing but disrespectful and aggressive, pool is a mess hair on floor, weird brown floaties in the pool, no towels after we requested 3 times, house keepers can't speak English and are very aggressive when you ask them to repeat themselves, all in all it was a horrible stay and the room next door put off a very strong weed smell and very loud noise at night. It makes me not want to come back to Medicine Hat. Thank you for destroying the weekend. read more

Just ok. I have been there a number of times and it is suppose to be a classy place, and it has that feel on the surface but if you really look around the place is old and rundown. The water slides are fun, it looks like they have redone them which is nice because the old ones were falling apart. This is not my favorite hotel to stay at in Medicine Hat, if I had my choice it would probably be the Holiday Inn Express. Also the resturants there are not that good. I went there for the buffett there and it was more like Buffett Medicine Hat (cheap/nasty) than the Bellagio (good food classy). read more

I live in The Hat but decided to go for a meal and see the casino. The food in the restaurant is ok, too expensive. If your coming here for the casino don't bother. No poker tables, lots of slot machines if that's what your into. Good luck getting any service from the casino staff. Most rooms are old but in good repair. Has a good pool area. Great for kids and with the free buffet breakfast and Telus TV. Free Wi-Fi in each room and each room has its own bandwidth. The room we were in had a fridge but no microwave. Great access because it's right beside the trans Canada highway. Right across the street from the mall so good shopping opportunities. Also movie theater is in the mall so it is a great place to stay and there are a tonne of things to do around it, within walking distance. read more

The only place to stay in MH! 2 restaurants and a few longues, CASINO, hair dresser, spa and gift store! Also has a pool, hot tub and water slides. Stayed in a room on the older side (new side is a bit more pricey but gorgeous and totally worth the price ), 2 queen beds, clean and $109 a night. Casino is newly renovated! Friendly staff... and sweet giant chairs! read more

When I booked online I only had the choice of 2 suites so I picked the jacuzzi suite and online it said pull out couch and the picture showed the bed was in a diff room however when we walked in the bed was next to the tub and there wasn't a pull out couch anywhere in site so the kids and us had to scrunch in the bed so to say the least we never had a very good time ...we really felt from the last time we stayed there that the hotel is getting really run down .... Def won't be back any time soon read more
