They took vitals and a test then had me sit in an exam room for an hour. I felt forgotten as I could hear more patients being called back and staff laughing/chatting outside. There was no sense of 'urgency' to be seen. For the hefty co-pay I had, I expected a little more.

I visited for a yellow fever vaccine, which involves a subcutaneous injection (administered into the fatty tissue beneath the skin). The injection site seemed a bit unusual (please see the attached picture), and later became inflamed, red, and swollen. I am planning to travel to Africa soon, and the doctor mentioned he would prescribe medication for traveler's diarrhea. However, when I went to the pharmacy, they gave me a prescription for malaria (something we had not discussed) and did not receive the Z-Pak prescription for traveler's diarrhea from the doctor's office. I had to return to the pharmacy the next day since they were closing.

Renee Kagan was the physician assistant. She was incredibly kind and generous and patient, and sat with me to figure out where the misunderstanding was. She looked up my flight destination to help ease my nerves about what kind of test was needed for entry, etc. She just went above and beyond, to ensure her staff was following protocol while also giving me some peace of mind. I left Urgent Care feeling really grateful that kind people like her exist. She had no ego, just concern and was incredibly solution oriented instead of just saying "too bad". I am so appreciative of her and her bedside manner. Oh, there is also no wait time and they honor appointments. Great experience overall. I took a star off because the person at the front had his mask just under his nose. I imagine this wasn't purposeful, but given that it's an urgent care, there should be mindfulness around this.

My insurance company told me that I needed to resolve the issue directly with the urgent care facility, not the lab company that they use. When I called this urgent care to quickly resolve the issue, I was given the runaround saying that no one could help me via phone and told that I needed to prepare a detailed written statement after which I'll likely be bounced around some more with no resolution. Do yourself a favor and go to CityMD by Queensboro Plaza instead. They have much better such service and a customer support team that's actually helpful.

It was the worst thing ever and I was not able to function at all...I dragged my corpse to see Dr. Chen and he diagnosed me with vestibular neuritis. He prescribed meclizine and started treating me with acupuncture. The acupuncture really helped with the dizziness and I started feeling better after a week. When I finally got an appointment to see a specialist at NYU they confirmed it was neuritis. My 4 y/o daughter was playing with her grandfather and he pulled her arm and partially dislocate her elbow (nursemaid's elbow). We weren't able to get her an appointment at her pediatrician, but luckily Dr. Chen able to treat her and move it back in place. I've also gotten acupuncture with Dr. Chen for pregnancy weight loss and also chronic neck/back pain from sitting and working on a computer all day. Aside from how good Dr. Chen is, I've been to a few other urgent cares in the neighborhood, and in all honesty, is one by far the best and the cleanest. They also call you the next day to check up on you.

Even when the waiting room is packed, I am seen within an hour. Everyone here is kind and helpful which is so important in an Urgent Care. The payment and billing is easy and no surprise fees like citXXX (iykyk). I most recently saw Dr Michael Paltzman who offered to see me anytime this week if my symptoms got worse which was beyond thoughtful of him. I never feel rushed talking to the providers or intake staff. They all take their time to explain the symptoms, treatment, medication and plan moving forward. I've gone for a little bit of everything and I highly recommend!

Special thank you to Kristy, Mely, Kennedy, Stan, Nick, Ben, Natalia, Kiran, Judah Fierstein, MD and most importantly, Mallory, who was able to talk me down from the proverbial ledge and really assuage my fears about my issue. I went to the front desk to explain my dilemma. I asked if I could go get my son quickly and return. I was told that if I did so I would have to get in line behind every person in the now crowded waiting room. I asked if I could return the following morning but was told I'd have to pay an entirely new copay. I asked if I could have my copay refunded since I never received my results and she said that was impossible since they had already taken my vitals. I asked if there was a customer service phone number I could reach out to, to which the young woman at the desk responded "for what?" (with a shrug). I asked if there was anyone in the practice I could appeal to, to which she said (with a smirk) "I'm the general manager on duty." So here I am, $75 and 90 minutes of my life lighter with no idea whether I have strep. I have no idea if this manager might have been able to pull some tiny string to help me out in my situation (though I imagine she could have) but what struck me more was her utter lack of empathy or interest in my problem or willingness to even appear to want to help me troubleshoot. Even with an appointment you wait a long time, but the worst part is once you are called into a room you sit there and wait at minimum 45 minutes before someone comes in to see you. There is nothing worse than sitting behind a closed door while you hear voices giggling outside. Not even giving the courtesy to open the door and apologize for the delay. When I did open the door, I was told "sorry I can't make the doctor go any faster, you are welcome to leave and come back later". Really? So, after waiting for 2 hours, I should leave and come back later? I did leave, but I will never return to this location again. DO BETTER!!!! I am sure they will not reply but I am hoping that someone will read this and decide to go elsewhere!
