While visiting New York, I became seriously ill with chills, fever, sweating, nonstop coughing, shortness of breath, and intense chest pressure. I know my body, and having had bronchitis a hand full of times before, I was confident that's what was happening. I was seen by a male doctor who was completely dismissive. After I explained my symptoms, he asked if I had asthma or allergies and then flat-out told me there was "nothing he could do." He refused to treat me, only prescribed an inhaler, and told me to buy over-the-counter medicine at CVS. His brilliant medical advice? "Wear a scarf, maybe that will help the coughing." I spent the remainder of my trip absolutely miserable, running a high fever, unable to sleep, and had to cancel all my plans that day and ultimately had to delay my flight because I was so sick. The moment I got home, I went to another doctor and was immediately diagnosed with bronchitis exactly what I had told this so-called "medical professional" from the beginning. This entire situation could have been avoided if I had been taken seriously and given proper care. Instead, I was dismissed and sent away sick. If you value your health, do not go here under any circumstances.

Front desk was ok, hard for them to hear me through the glass separators. Doctor was okay. You scan a QR code to register. The kiosks are no longer there. It's a bit annoying they ask for some of the same info despite having been there before. Apple Pay did not work. I waited about 15 min as a walk in. They took vitals and a test then had me sit in an exam room for an hour. I felt forgotten as I could hear more patients being called back and staff laughing/chatting outside. There was no sense of 'urgency' to be seen. For the hefty co-pay I had, I expected a little more.

In general, the doctors I've seen before were professional, kind, and genuinely tried to help. Unfortunately, my visit on December 14, 2025 was very different. I was seen by a female provider whose name I was unable to get -- the front desk did not provide it, and she did not introduce herself. From the beginning, her attitude felt cold and dismissive. I clearly explained my situation and asked if it would be possible to prescribe medication in a slightly larger quantity, as I come to CityMD regularly and currently do not have insurance. I paid out of pocket for this visit. Instead of calmly explaining medical or policy limitations, the provider responded with visible irritation and a negative attitude, which made an already stressful situation worse. She could see that I was anxious and in a rush, yet the interaction felt unnecessarily tense. At the end of the visit, I was told that two medications would be prescribed. However, when I went to the pharmacy, I received only one tablet of one medication, and the antibiotic that was promised was not prescribed at all. This was extremely frustrating and confusing, especially since the clinic was already closing and I could not clarify the issue the same day. What upset me the most was not even the prescription mistake itself, but the lack of professionalism and empathy. In all my previous visits to CityMD, providers were respectful, patient, and supportive. This experience felt like an exception, and unfortunately a very unpleasant one. I truly hope this feedback is taken seriously, because CityMD has always been a place I trusted -- and I would hate to see that trust affected by interactions like this.

Made the executive decision to try an urgent care instead of a local emergency room. Emergency room's on a Friday in NYC., can be a gamble. Summit Health and CityMD are now part of VillageMD.  VillageMD provides high quality, accessible healthcare services for individuals and communities across the United States, with primary, multispecialty, and urgent care providers serving patients in traditional clinic settings, and in patients' homes which is a service I love, reminds me of concierge medicine, and through virtual appointments. You can easily find this location on West 14th street, 2 blocks away from Union Square. Upon arriving you're greeted by a very pleasant receptionist that will ask if you have an appointment or, are a walk in. I was a walk in, therefore I scanned the QR code at check in, which gives you electronic consent forms to fill out. The waiting area is very clean, no crowds, and esthetically pleasing to the eyes. The atmosphere and service gives you a comfortable, and relaxed feeling, especially with the beautiful art. After electronically filling out the forms, I was given an immediate appointment. My wait was barely five minutes. Went to the back, had my vitals taken. Doctor came in, within another 5 minutes. Had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Ira Owen whom was a kind Doctor, with excellent bedside manners. Felt like he was Superman, just needed a cape. After examining my hand, wrist, and elbow, the Doctor felt it was a terrible sprain. My thumb was put in brace, and I was given instructions on how to care for the sprain. My entire visit was probably under 35 minutes. Could not ask for a better medical experience. Definitely recommend City MD West 14th street location. Tip: If you need x-rays, call ahead to confirm which location has the mobile x-ray technician. To ensure you are not left inconvenienced.

I had GI symptoms and was seen by a very nice physician and given a Zpack before my test results were ready, just as a precaution. Within 2 days, my test came back with a type of infection that would have actually been made worse by azithromycin. I called to request a medication change according to my test result. The assistant who answered the call assured me that a clinician will call me back shortly, if I didn't want to wait on the phone. After more than 4 hours, nada. I called, then this clinic refused to do anything but asked me to pay another copay to set up a virtual appointment, for a medication they prescribed me which would have certainly made me worse! I know because I have had this infection many years ago. Awful. Just book a virtual appointment with your primary care. Don't bother with this place.

Renee Kagan was the physician assistant. She was incredibly kind and generous and patient, and sat with me to figure out where the misunderstanding was. She looked up my flight destination to help ease my nerves about what kind of test was needed for entry, etc. She just went above and beyond, to ensure her staff was following protocol while also giving me some peace of mind. I left Urgent Care feeling really grateful that kind people like her exist. She had no ego, just concern and was incredibly solution oriented instead of just saying "too bad". I am so appreciative of her and her bedside manner. Oh, there is also no wait time and they honor appointments. Great experience overall. I took a star off because the person at the front had his mask just under his nose. I imagine this wasn't purposeful, but given that it's an urgent care, there should be mindfulness around this.
