Apparently the infra red treatment warms up the muscles so they can go straight into the massage and not have to spend the first 10mins warming the muscles. The restaurant was very good, with lovely patio seating. We used the hotel as a jumping off poing for two days stay in Winchester after a two-week Baltic cruise. The only problem we had was that we asked for a taxi to be booked for a 5am departure to the train station, to get to an airport bus to take a flight to New York. The booking was not made and the morning manager had to scramble to try and get a cab to come. We caught our train with only one minute to spare. It was very stressful. We had numerous issues with the taxi drivers in the town actually, and sadly, would not return to Winchester because of this issue within the town itself.

So we drove the £18 miles in rush hour which took over an hour. We arrived at the manor house and asked where the spa was and were pointed to what looked and sounded like a public swimming pool. At reception I asked where the spa was, Do you mean like massage and that? The giggly girls behind the desk asked. That's upstairs she said. We debated going up but decided we'd go for a look round then make our decision. We walked upstairs and through the bar/ restraunt and the lady at the desk showed us in and we waited in the 'relaxation room' which was nextdoor to the bar and the spa information desk where you could hear the phone ringing (not very relaxing). She showed us the massage rooms which were not being used and they looked lovely and I'm sure the massages would be but we were just there to use the facilities for £35. We were told if we went downstairs we would be shown around the sauna and pool etc. Again we went to the front desk and were told It's all just down there to the right. We walked down, had to walk through separate changing rooms, in which we both had a 'sauna, steamroom and showers sign'- so I'm guessing we would not be able to relax in there as a couple. And through to the poo which had around 15 people in it from young to old. Needless to say we walked out! Everything was wrong with the place! A spa? You would not want to walk from the relaxation room to the pool in a dressing gown and we could not even have a sauna together. A meal in the 'resteraunt' aka bar would not have been relaxing or romantic. Maybe if there were charging £12 for a light meal and use of the small pool, sauna and steamroom it would have been about right but £35!!!!!

And one of the few place in Bath that stocks it is Space.NK. Space NK is like a department store dedicated solely to lotions, potions and cosmetics and I LOVE it. Granted, 95% of it is completely out of my budget, but it's a great place to window shop. The shop is laid out well with bright white counters and shelves of beautifully decorated packaging. This store in Bath has exceptionally smiley, friendly shop assistant who will listen attentively to find you the best suited products.
